i feel you bro.
look, i understand completely the idea that people wanted someone who wasn't a career politician in the white house anymore.
but that idea died when Greece invented democracies. that's the reality. ANY government, regardless of how great our democracy is...is still government, and will ONLY get more and more complicated as societies continue to evolve and progress. it doesn't matter how "limited" people want it to be.
we have 300 million + people in this country. "limited" was and will always remain a massive pipe dream. we can limit government as far as individual freedoms, but when it comes to regulating economies and such....come on.
so again, i get it, but i never agreed with the idea of an "outsider" running our country.
especially because it seems like nobody actually agrees on what an outsider is. i've said before, Trump is NOT an outsider.
just because someone isn't directly involved with government doesn't mean they are on the outside.
for example, oober, i doubt you would consider the Koch Bro's outsiders. why? because while they aren't government officials, they have massive amounts of money that they fund their preferred politicians for, as well as massive funding going to lobbying efforts.
Trump falls under that same category, and as such, the outsider label he has, to me, is the biggest misconception spreaded this election cycle. it's simply not true. the guy has been donated to political campaigns, both right and left, since before some of us on this board were even born. he has politicians who he regularly met with, from going to their events to politicians going to HIS events, for decades.
he has always been very much in the system.
an "outsider" is somebody like you or me or anyone else on this board, who other than paying taxes, has no direct link to government or policy making.
^^^ good luck having one of us running for president and getting any meaningful votes. but that's what a true outsider is. and a true outsider has essentially zero chance of becoming president.
how does that relate to trump? not only is he not an outsider, but he CLEARLY doesn't even understand how basic governing works.
now, when it comes to pure qualifications, all you have to do is have someone be 35 and a US citizen.
but since government is complicated, no matter WHAT style of government you have, it's simply not smart to elect someone who doesn't even understand basic ethics.
and electing a high level businessman is something i'm highly against, and trump has done nothing but enforce my belief on that. there is simply way too many conflict of interest involved in that. some, by the way, that are already manifesting itself, such as ivanka getting trademarks with the chinese, or kushner getting a government job because of nepotism, or businessmen who bought their way to department agencies, like the EPA chief who hates the EPA, or the education chief who hates public schools. or a goldman sachs banker running the treasury department.
or a big oil guy being secretary of state.
electing an outsider big business guy because of "wanting the government to be more efficient" sounds good.
just like saving a dying coal industry sounds good. but the reality is that it is a horrible idea, which is why so little situations like that actually happen around the world.
because at the end of the day, a businessman got rich because he is profit motivated. there is (not suppose to be) a profit motive in a non profit organization such as government.
it is NOT the same. it can NOT be ran the same. it is one of the biggest load of crap ideas that have been pushed in this country, and now we no choice but to learn the hard way.
sorry for going on a long winded post. but i needed to say that. at least you're acknowledging that this isn't really working out. there are some people who are gonna go down with the ship no matter how big the iceberg looks.
