You must not understand or care that two out of three people in nursing homes depend on medicaid. You must not understand that many children who have working parents depend on medicaid. I'm glad the American people are figuring that out.

INVESTIGATORS in New York were looking for health-care fraud hot-spots. Agents suggested Oceana, a cluster of luxury condos in Brighton Beach. The 865-unit complex had a garage full of Porsches and Aston Martins—and 500 residents claiming Medicaid, which is meant for the poor and disabled. Though many claims had been filed legitimately, some looked iffy. Last August six residents were charged. Within weeks another 150 had stopped claiming assistance, says Robert Byrnes, one of the investigators.

Health care is a tempting target for thieves. Medicaid doles out $415 billion a year; Medicare (a federal scheme for the elderly), nearly $600 billion. Total health spending in America is a massive $2.7 trillion, or 17% of GDP. No one knows for sure how much of that is embezzled, but in 2012 Donald Berwick, a former head of the Centres for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and Andrew Hackbarth of the RAND Corporation, estimated that fraud (and the extra rules and inspections required to fight it) added as much as $98 billion, or roughly 10%, to annual Medicare and Medicaid spending—and up to $272 billion across the entire health system.

I just pointed out some facts that you obviously have no real response to. About what I expected actually.

I mean with all of these low paying jobs, corporate welfare by subsidizing big business so your tax dollars go to their employees is all the rage these days. And you and others wish to blame their employees for it.

Fair points, thanks for actually answering the question. To answer your question, no they are not supposed to support "bad" companies just to keep people employed, however, a lot of ranking democrats do talk about corporations as if their #1 objective should be to hire and keep people employed and pay them more, even if they don't have to.

My only problem with low wages is that somebody pays the bills. Now I don't fault Walmart or other businesses because they use the rules to their advantage. That's what corporations are geared for. But the result is instead of employers who are making record profits paying wages that keep their employees off of government programs, the tax payers foot the bill.

Many of their children are on medicaid. Many of them qualify for food stamps because their wages are so low. What it boils down to is the tax payer is footing the bill so these corporations can line their pockets.

I'm not saying paying everyone $15.00 an hour is the answer. But at some point we need to wake up to the fact that we are paying for their worker benefits and many complain about the people who work for them rather than the corporations that are reaping the benefits of the system.

That's because democrats are dumb. They reject socialism as being too left while still denouncing capitalism's failures and wanting to socialize basic human needs. In order to have such a view, they have to think of corporations away from reality and want them to do other things. Democrats are the walking contradictions.

This pretty much summarizes the primary problem I had with Obamacare. To work, it was almost completely predicated on insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies NOT acting like big for-profit organizations. Like they were going to just watch profits erode and be ok with it because it was for the "greater good".. it wasn't going to happen, it was never going to happen.

And it will never happen under Trumpcare. Prices will continue to rise and deductibles will continue to increase. Just like before Obamacare.

No matter what system is used this will be true. Our medical system is ran by corporations. Their goal is to increase profits. Those things were true before Obamacare and they will be true after Obamacare.

A corporation without good profits is a charity.
I can go make money somewhere else instead of wasting my time running a charity.

That's the goal of any corporation or business. The fact we are rated below many nations in healthcare that can deliver that to their people for much less money shouldn't matter. It's all about corporations and profit, not people.

Without the profits, the corporations would not have developed the medicines and treatments.

There would be far fewer people as everyone died by the age of 45.

Profits, corporations and people are tied at the hip.

Yep. Making everyone go through multiple middlemen makes no sense. You can't make Peter pay the Padros to subsidize Pedro's healthcare. That's why a lot of Democrats have finally agreed to single payer. Obama, post-Presidency, even said that he would have much preferred single payer, but there was too much infrastructure already in place. I think that's a load of bull, but whatever.

Cuba's application of labor force to healthcare is something to strive for, for most developed countries imo. It's crazy that it's thriving despite Cuba being embargoed from a lot of medicines. I've brought it up multiple times on here and no one has wanted to tackle the issue.

Cuba's survival depends on everything the Cuban Americans sneak into Cuba out of concern for relatives there.

That's because you have these feelings that are not facts. Cuba's healthcare system is one of the things keeping them afloat as they send their surplus of healthcare professionals to the developing world.
