I remember Garrett's first game of 2015. It was against a Pac 12 school....Arizona or Arizona St. Dude jumped off the screen. He had a couple of sacks, another couple of tackles for a loss, forced a fumble, and was pretty much unblockable all game long.

I came on here on the College Football thread that candy [I think it was him] started, and I said that he should be the first pick in the draft. I didn't realize that he wasn't even eligible for the draft yet. LOL

Dude is a stud!

How can you be so sure?

^ Replace the word "capable" with "likely" and I'd have no issue with this, but I think they are all Capable, Even Hogan,
I also think the problem of not understanding the offense meaning one can't get a start has been proven wrong several times in the past, even on the Browns, (A couple horrid games, and the coach makes the switch, no matter how green the backup is).

I also think dismissing Brock as unable to perform better than whatever performance has you thinking he's not good enough to be the guy, and not counting for that he might have improved is judging too early.

I think it's a wait and see on everybody, all of them.
Half of the guys on the 53 man roster are going to be in a wait and see how they are going to do, kind of position anyways,
So the opportunities for good and bad are both there.

Ask me if I care...I won't edit this for another opinion. As for being so sure...its just an opinion from observations, take it or leave it.
I yam what I yam.

One of the camp videos showed the QBs working on catching the ball and throwing the WR screen as fast as they could go. Kessler looked pretty crisp. Brock bobbled one but still fired it out but was considerable slower. Kizer had by far the quickest release of the 3. I was very surprised. I know its minor and he isn't reading a defense and throwing but I liked how quick the ball came out.

Really7 happy all these guys had a pretty good first day. Myles eating up the LT was good news, want to see him going against Joe and Coleman. Cam Johnson with first team was a bit of a surprise for me.

GC. ON Myles Garrett I have 2 Questions.

Everbody knows he can pass rush primarily,
a. How is he doing in recognizing and disrupting screens;

b. And How is he doing on Outside containment on running plays to his side.

2. Does anyone see him taking plays off, that are runs to the opposite of where he lines up, which I saw in his bowl game; are the coaches fixing him on this?

Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

Not trying to insult his intelligence or anything, we all know/read he's an intelligent person - but I think we'll see Kirksey playing behind him, which will help him get aligned up/prepared pre-snap for A and B of your concerns.

JMO of course.

Kizer has an effortless arm, that's for sure

Short clip...first impression...
Kessler is super accurate
Brock looks foreign to the position
Kizer, crisp and sharp. What was it 5 throws??? Hard to say its a two man race but looks that way.

Hogan...so much for him as they skipped his drill...lol grin

When we see Kessler launch it downfield in pre-season we might finally get some believers rooting for him ! smile Man I hope he comes through ... and if Kizer develops he really does look like a natural.

Hey its a fact...routes 15 yards and in...Kessler is amazingly accurate. Last season routes +15 yards he was not.

this has several variables, yes improvement on arm strength,
we know he worked on it in the off season and QB Coach Lee has shortened his step in his throws which is said to get the ball out there in better velocity. But he has to just trust the route and throw that ball early. Which by the way...Drew Brees does...I remember having a side by side with McCoy and Brees and Brees would let go of that deep out almost a full second early...lots a separation that early.

jmho

Seeing them throw one after another, you guys are right. Kizer looks like someone keeps speeding up the camera each time he starts his throw.

There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

It's time for some hitting and tackling at Browns training camp

6:56 PM ET
Tony Grossi
ESPN Cleveland
Editor's note: Tony Grossi covers the Cleveland Browns for ESPN 850 WKNR.

More takeaways from Day 2 of Browns training camp …

1. Sound the alarms: There’s an old NFL saying that training camp doesn’t really begin until the pads go on. Well, they go on Saturday and coach Hue Jackson promises to sound the siren that signals live tackling when the mood calls for it. “Anything can happen at any time,” Jackson said. “I like to kind of change it up a little bit. We will get after each other a little bit. Trying to build a physically tough, mentally tough football team. I want to see our guys compete that way.” Jackson’s tentative schedule also calls for a padded practice on Sunday, so Jackson will have a full complement of players on hand. Several veteran players have pre-scheduled days off – offensive tackle Joe Thomas, cornerback Joe Haden, receiver Kenny Britt, defensive lineman Desmond Bryant enjoyed theirs on Friday – to keep them healthy for the start of the season. “When we’re in pads, I want the guys out there, on the field and competing. So they won’t miss those days, I guarantee that. But there is a plan,” Jackson said.

2. Hold the ball: There wasn’t a lot of downfield throwing on a windy afternoon, and Jackson attributed that to certain installations the coaches had scheduled on offense. But that made three offensive turnovers even harder to swallow for Jackson. One was a Brock Osweiler interception deflected by end Nate Orchard and caught by linebacker Dominique Alexander. The other two were strips of the ball by defensive backs Briean Boddy-Calhoun and Marcus Burley after catches by rookie tight end David Njoku. “He has to hold on to the freaking ball,” Jackson said. “That’s got to stop and we will get it stopped. We can’t give the ball away.”

3. Big brother is watching: I asked Brock Osweiler what is the path for him to winning the starting quarterback job. “I think the biggest thing at any position as far as being a starter is being consistent,” he said. “Coaches talk about not seeing the wave -- the highs, the lows. Just be the same guy every day that we can count on. I think that’s something you earn over a number of practices and games – being consistent, not turning the ball over, moving the chains, scoring points and making good decisions with the football.” So everything the quarterbacks do is being charted and scored? “Absolutely,” Osweiler said. “There’s more cameras around this place than probably any other building in America right now. Everything we do is filmed and I know it’s evaluated.”

4. Quarterback update: Per ESPN Cleveland’s Jason Gibbs, here are the completion numbers of the quarterbacks in team drills on Friday: Cody Kessler, 5 of 8; DeShone Kizer, 4 of 6; Brock Osweiler, 5 of 8; Kevin Hogan, 4 of 6. And the updated totals: Kessler, 10 of 14; Kizer, 8 of 13; Osweiler, 13 of 18; Hogan, 7 of 12.

5. Brownie bits: The Browns cut running back George Atkinson and replaced him with running back Brandon Wilds. Wilds, 6-0 and 220 pounds, was undrafted out of South Carolina and signed by Atlanta last year. He appeared in four games with the Jets … Rookie pass rusher Myles Garrett is noted for his get-off quickness. But in a pass rush drill he bull-rushed rookie tackle Rod Johnson into the quarterback’s chest and in a team drill he swatted tackle Shon Coleman aside and was in the face of Kessler before he threw the ball away … An hour after practice ended, there a solitary player on the field doing sprints alone – Kizer.

Ive read that Coleman has looked pretty good. He played both LT and RT at times.

Camp in a Snap: Day Two, bumbling offense and a fight, too
by Zac Jackson, posted minutes ago
BEREA, Ohio — Thoughts and analysis from the Browns' second training camp practice…

1. Friday's practice was ugly. Like, 2009 training camp-type ugly from an offensive standpoint. Fumbles, dropped passes, bad passes…just the opposite of beautiful. That will happen when the players aren't in pads so the defense can fly around, and especially when the offensive line isn't whole. It's just one practice, and an early practice at that, but the Browns have a long way to go offensively. That's neither new nor surprising — good teams don't have training camp quarterback competitions — but it's the barrier the Browns must knock down. There are high hopes for the offensive line and the run game. There are, um, hopes at quarterback and wide receiver.

The quarterback rotation Friday remained the same as it was Thursday and through the end of the spring work ,Cody Kessler was first, Brock Osweiler was second with the second team, then DeShone Kizer worked with the first unit. Kessler and Kizer got off to strong starts with some impressive throws in the one-on-one portion of practice, and Osweiler later made a couple throws in team periods that had Hue Jackson hustling to commend him. But overall the quarterbacks threw a lot of checkdowns and dump-offs into the dirt, and the ball was on the ground much more than it was in a receiver's hands at the end of a play.

David Njoku, the promising rookie tight end who has a long way to go, twice had the ball poked away by defensive backs after making catches. Now, Njoku is big and fast enough to just truck those defensive backs in a full-contact setting. But the Browns need Njoku to pay attention to every detail, and protecting the ball is a pretty important detail. Jackson said after practice that Njoku needs “to hold on to the freaking ball” and that the Browns will address it.

Rookies will have bad days. This is not a league for 21-year-olds. The offense will get better, presumably. There's much to be settled. There's much growing to do. It's early, but there's really one question to answer.

Will it be a few weeks, a few months or somewhere in the middle before Kizer is the starting quarterback?

2. Friday brought the first interception of camp (Dominique Alexander, on a tipped Osweiler pass), the first fight (Shon Coleman pulverizing Karter Schult well after the play ended), the first transaction (the Browns swapped running backs, claiming Brandon Wilds and cutting George Atkinson III) and the first planned day off for some of the team's veterans, a group that included Joe Thomas, Joe Haden, Joel Bitonio, Kenny Britt and Jason McCourty. It's standard procedure and a way of life in today's NFL. The Browns need their guys in October and beyond.

Second-year safety Derrick Kindred was held out of practice after he suffered some heat-related cramping issues on Thursday. Jackson said earlier in the week Kindred had earned the right to be on the field with the No. 1 defense. We probably won't know much about the safety rotation and battle for snaps until the Browns start playing preseason games. There are a lot of competitors, but not many with any proven production.

3. The Browns practice again Saturday afternoon. For the first time, they'll be in full pads.

Jackson again promised that the Browns will hold full-speed, full-contact periods during camp in certain, controlled spots. He reiterated his belief that teams must hit in practice to develop physical and mental toughness and though he promised to be careful, he also promised the “siren period” will be worth watching.

“We'll get after it,” Jackson said.

I'll have my popcorn ready.

I know, right? LOL

A bunch of throws w/no pressure to uncovered guys. And some say that two guys are eliminated already.

Personally, I really couldn't discern much from that clip. I was hoping the fans would kinda trust Hue on this one, but it appears quite a few have already decided who should start and who should not.

From memory, it was a group effort, I recall the post that was made in what was then Tailgate. Seemed to be a few folk in the know, I think Michelle was active in the initial posting, maybe she even created the thread but I seem to recall both Pdawg and Kingo active in the sleuthing/bust but that's for them to confirm.

As others have said, a lot of things the dude said didn't pass the sniff test and I guess as the web got bigger, so did the holes and people started researching. It all came to a big dirty unraveling head with the story of his son who was some kinda 6"1 175lb star high school linebacker getting terminally ill. The whole thing was quite bizarre. I think I remember Eotab being genuinely concerned and posting support for "woody" I think it was and then the whole outhouse went up in flames.

It was a thing of beauty really.

(I'm sure I've made some misguided assumptions in this post and take my accuracy with a pinch of salt but it was along these kind of lines).

TL:DR - the bloke was a sad loser and got his just desserts.
God, its been so long now I cant remember all the details, but basically there was some talking and comparing notes behind the scenes and we were able to find out his real name and I think there was something with IP addresses. I think Christy was heavily involved too. It turned out all the cancer stuff was a lie.

Really not trying to fit the film to my agenda. To me - at the beginning of the clip when they are rapid fire throwing the ball, Brock seems to just not get the throw off as fast. You don't get that situation in game so it matters squat one way or the other ... but I saw what I saw. And I posted what I saw.

Only time it would ever come into play would be on a quick wr screen. Just thought it was nice seeing a guy that big getting the ball out that quickly. Not like it was manziel or rg3.

So Nate Orchard got the tip that caused the interception, and this means Orchard, and Dominque Alexander were on the field at the same time.

And Burley, and BB.Calhoun were covering Njouku, or at least one of the ones to meet him.

But mainly to say. Nate Orchard, making another play.

I watched it. My take was that Kessler was wearing boxer briefs, Kizer was wearing briefs, Osweiler was wearing boxers, and Hogan was going commando.
