You really need to work on your wording lol. "False assumptions" isn't very accurate. I will say there was vagueness in what you wrote, as Pdawg felt the same way. Regardless, the point is that even the way you meant it, it still wasn't condusive to actual discussion. Maybe, just MAYBE, it isn't all on the other person all the time.
I understand what you're saying about having to "live" something, but as I said in the other post, then you can't really understand those I listed because you haven't "lived" it.
No...I'm pretty sure it's all your fault
Seriously, I may have been vague, but instead of asking to clarify, you attacked, and said I made claims that were never true. But, we cleared that, so time to move on from that.
I don't understand your last point, I don't know what list your talking about.

What I am referring to is if we can't know how others feel because we haven't lived it, that would apply to everyone from police officers to racists, to...everyone. To extend out that line of thinking, no one can understand anyone and there's no point in trying to. I don't believe that. As for the other, sure, blame whitey.

I had a long post after the "walk" comment but I thought better of it. I did not want to be branded a bigot. Even though it seems my "whiteness" makes me one automatically sometimes. Get it? Or maybe I am just paranoid.

Again, without going back and re reading everything, I'm not sure where I "blasted you in public", and if I did, sorry.

I understand you were trying to relay to me how things are where you live, unfortunately, that's not how the world feels.
Sorry again. I can't relate to where you live. You obviously can't relate to where I live. I can't relate to someone paying $6000 a month to rent an apartment. I can't relate to someone to someone paying $6 for a pack of smokes. I can't relate to a lot of things. Apparently you feel your "reality" is the reality in every place in this country. Sorry, I don't see it that way. See, I can only deal with the reality that I live. I cannot "superimpose" myself in your world. I can't become a black man. Just as you can't become a white man. (I don't think they have surgeries for either of those, do they? )
You have a standing offer from me, ndutyme. If you ever have an opportunity, please, visit me. You can stay at my house free of charge. There will be no food bills, no expenses. I would love for you to visit "my world". See, "my world" is where I live, and what I base my views on. You may say I'm narrow minded...........fine. I would say I live life as it is dealt to me.
that's not to say you don't experience what you experience. I am sure you do. But, instead of dragging me down because of my views/opinions - instead of saying "you don't know how it is", why not first come visit me and learn how it is where I live? And I mean it, 100%. - the invitation, that is. No, I'm not paying for you to come here, but if you do come, you would be welcome in my home.Quote:
Also, I still don't understand your point about holding doors...that just proves you have manners.
No, you don't. Sorry you had to bring pm's into this, but no, you don't understand my point. Just as I can't fully grasp some of your points. Not that your points are wrong, or invalid, but, it's just this simple: I am not a black man living where you live. Just as you are not a white man living where I live.

That's why we talk about it. Sorry I brought the PM into this, but I thought that's what you were referring to. When I was talking about the ruckus that Coach and I got into, you said, you must be a liberal, blaming everything on somebody else. I didn't appreciate that none too much. But you'll find that I don't like to hold grudges so, it's all water under the bridge. HUGS FOR EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!

Arch...awfully hospitable of you. Where do you live, I love to travel. I don't drink, but I'm sure we could find something entertaining...cowtipping or something
You're right in one regard though, it's hard for anybody to TRULY understand what it's like to be someone else. That's why we talk about it.
Grab an Ohio map. Look in the n.w. corner - about 30 miles from the Indiana line, about 15 to 20 from the michigan line.
Really, not that far away from you - geographically speaking.
My son goes to college in Columbus (not OSU).
And, since you don't drink, we could go to the world famous "Ickey's" bar here in town. (that way you could get us home with no problem ) The Big Ick is a burger worth driving for, just ask clay57 - he knows!
Entertainment? Cow tipping is over rated - plus, you never know when the bull is in the pasture (they can run pretty fast). Nah, we'd probably shoot skeet, ride 4 wheelers, drink beer or lemonade, shoot woodchucks, popcans, drink more beer and lemonade (or pop, or water, or milk, or whatever), ........you like to fish? I have a 45 lb. flathead catfish in my pond, along with about 6 million bluegill. Or maybe come in the winter, when we cruise around the banks of the pond on 4 wheelers like it's Bristol Motor Speedway. Or maybe we could just sit on the back porch, (it's covered), and watch the sun set, discussing things. We could take a drive and you could see the largets RTA furniture company in the world (I think it's the world - I KNOW it's the largest in the U.S.) There are some "cultural" things here too - but it's the "black swamp" culture (that's what n.w. ohio used to be called, back when it was settled.)
Race fan? I might be able to arrange a meeting with Sam Hornish Jr. He lives about 15 miles away, he's my cousin (through marriage), and he hangs out at some of the places we frequent.
Well, lets just say it would be a weekend in the "country" so to speak.

Damn arch, can we fit all that into one weekend. I'll pass on the cow tipping, I'd hate for someone to come tip me over while I'm sleeping standing up.
How did I get nominated for designated driver...oh yeah, never mind.
4 wheeling sounds fun. Haven't been fishing in years, would love to do that. I'm a city boy, with country roots, so I'd adapt easily. We'll have to set that up.
No offense, but I have no idea who Sam Hornish Jr is, nor would I particularly care to meet him, unless he let's me drive.

Oh yeah, one weekend, no problem. Sam Hornish Jr. is the ONLY 3 time champ the IRL has - he won last years Indy 500. (don't worry, many people haven't even heard of the IRL)
The fishing? I guarantee you'll catch fish. (most of them will be little blue gill), but my daughter and I have caught decent sized Blue Gill as well. The cat? He's kinda wary, since he has all the blue gill he can eat anyway. Couple of years ago we drained the pond entirely, to have it dug out.......once it got just under knee deep, I shut the pump off and we netted all the bass ( had about 40 that were very good sized, and the one crappie - took them to my bro in laws pond).

Kanaan. Pronounced "I have a big nose".
Yeah, he got into with him, so to speak. Here's the short and sweet of it. Sam passed Kanaan early in the race on a tight corner. Kanaan hung himself out too high, and Sam took the inside lane. They hit. Sam fans say Kanaan cut into Sam, Kanaan fans say Sam used Kanaan as a "bumper". Take your pick there.
That was lap 30, or so, of an 80 lap race..........so, after the race, pulling into the pits, Kanaan goes around Sam, and wheels it into Sams car - breaking his (sams) front suspension......after they park the cars, on pit road, Sam jumps out all upset. Goes up to Kanoses car and starts jawing with kanose for about 10 seconds, maybe less. Sam SR. comes up, grabs Jr, and pushes him away about 25 ft. Kanose gets out of his car, and comes up to Sam Sr. and Jr.......here's where we don't know exactly what was said, but we do know exactly what was done.........as Kanaan came up, yelling, Sr. takes a step or 2, and pushes Kanaan back. At that time, people gathered around, Michael Andretti shows up (he's Kanaan's team owner), Kanaan takes a swipe at Sam Jr., Michaels son Marco (who's a driver) pushes Michael away, and the incident is over.
Right up until Sam Sr. is tackled and taken to the ground. At this point, the IRL security is heavily involved....and trust me, the head of it is not someone you want to mess with.......so, he grabs the tackler and hauls him off, the crews for both Sam and Kanaan, square things away.
Sr. was wrong to push Kanose. The guy that tackled Sr. was an Andretti friend (remember, Andretti is the owner of Kanaan's car).
Sam and Kanaan didn't ever really go at it, just jawing, except for Kanaan's mild swipe of Sam (they both were smart enough to leave their helmets on by the way).
That's as unbiased as I can be about the event that happened.
Want the biased part? Kanaan got upset that he, a road course specialist, got beat by Sam, an oval King. After the race was over, Kanaan endangered many, many lives, by pile driving another car coming into pit road, which was full of crew members, fans, etc. People could've died.
And lastly, if it was me, I probably would've laid out the 5'6", maybe 120 lb. kanaan.
I see he is doing public sevice announcements for the state. Didn't he just get into it last weekend with Canan (or how ever you spell his name. ) and his dad go involved?

I don't know why the majority of inmates are of a certain makeup maybe due to economics, racism in the justice system , learned behavior....all questions that someone smarter than me would have to answer I simply gave some numbers. Sorry if I offended anyone .
Basic sociology indicates that socioeconomic status combined with family composition are the greatest indicators toward criminal behavior. To put it in its simplest terms, a poor kid being raised in a single parent home is far more likely to end up involved in criminal activity than a middle class kid from a traditional nuclear family.
