so ships with the most sophisticated tech in the world, and this is the fault of budget cuts? Well, in fairness, that's just as plausible as what 1 person on here alluded to: That the buck stops with trump, ergo, it's trumps fault. I'll repeat, it's 100% the fault of the 7th fleet leadership from the top down including where the buck stops. Why should this be any different than any other administration ever? The buck stops at the Potus. If you can't man up as the Potus you're useless to this country. Lead, follow, or get out of the way.

So, absolutely anything and everything bad that happens in the gov't, or the armed services should be blamed on the president? Is that your stance?

Purp I know you and OCD or ex navy, but I dunno how the POTUS can be blamed for this.
At the end of the day it's up to whoever is running he ship to train his crew properly.
I mean the other accident involving an anchor....isn't that basic stuff?
I guess for me, it would be like blaming bush or obama for the reason our platoon sargeant dragged ass and didn't teach us proper convoy operation techniques. I get that it might go up to like maybe battalion command, but to blame anybody in DC for basic stuff is a bit much.

It's always been that way since I can remember. I wasn't aware that changed because of one POTUS in nearly 50 of them doesn't actually want that required responsibility that the rest have been held to. Sad.

My point is that military leaders and the Commander in Chief are directly responsible for troop moral. And when moral is low things like this happen. Corners are cut. Shortcuts are taken. The POTUS needs to take some sort of responsibility or moral will continue to sink. No pun intended at all.

So, because the captain of a naval ship gets rammed - or rams - a non military ship, it's the presidents fault.
Got it.
Coming from you, knowing your inability to comprehend much of anything other than hatred towards trump, it makes perfect sense.
In the real world, it just makes you look foolish in yet another attempt to attack the president. Oh, the current president, because you certainly didn't feel that way for the past 8 years.

In the immediate sense, absolutely, this is all on the CO and XO, but what I think we're seeing is a larger systemic issue and I am coming to believe that it stems from the changes to our Navy over the last 8-10 years or so. Fewer ships, smaller crews, shorter rotations between deployments, longer than ever deployments. Everything gets stretched thin and I think that training has absolutely taken a back seat - actually, from talking with some buddies of mine that have retired in the last several years, I *KNOW* that training in the Fleet is absolutely taking a back seat compared to my days in. Requirements for getting guys qualified to do various jobs is grossly reduced, too. Add in a guy like this Captain who creates an environment where individual input is stifled and you have a recipe for an incredibly lax, undertrained, and unprofessional crew going through the motions with things they don't know or understand anywhere near as well as they should. So, yes, I blame the POTUS's, I blame the CNO's, I blame CINCPACFLT, I blame XO, CO, and the Div O's.... and largely EVERY NCO. I blame POTUS & CNO for the forced operational tempo's.... I blame the rest for the choices they've made in handling the tempo. Training & discipline should NEVER take a back seat.

uh huh.
so again, what does this have to do with the incident, again?
cause this isn't due to budget cuts. It isn't due to the President's "leadership" either so there is that....
