So he makes up this story about General Pershing who he says dipped bullets into Pigs blood then shot 49 or 50 Muslim Terrorists, leaving the 50th one to go back and tell his buddies what happened, then we have 25 years of no terrorist attacks.. He repeated this story again yesterday after the attacks on Barcelona. Donald Trump posted a tweet in the immediate aftermath of the Barcelona attack that suggested people should study a famed US general who was said - incorrectly - to have suppressed Muslim militants by shooting them with bullets dipped in pigs' blood.
Mr Trump initially posted a message of support in which he condemned the attacks. Then he said people should look at the history of an early 20th Century general, John Pershing. He appeared to be referring to a widely debunked story that Pershing overcame militant Muslims in the Philippines by killing them and burying their bodies with pigs.
Another part of the legend is that he killed them with bullets dipped in pigs' blood.
Both narratives have been proven false by historians who have studied Pershing's activities in the Moro province from 1909 to 1913. The claims were not verified in Pershing's memoir and did not fit his documented behaviour, according to Politifact.
Also, "the idea that pig’s blood could serve as a weapon against Muslims has been around in popular culture for decades," according to Polifact.
Mr Trump has made the claim before, notably in February 2016 during the Republican primaries.
Mr Trump tweeted 15 minutes after he sent a message of support to the people of Barcelona via his personal Twitter account.
It seems to suggest that the President is assuming the attackers - two people have been arrested so far - are Islamist terrorists and that his preferred method for dealing with them is pigs' blood bullets, or threatening to bury them with pigs.
He has not tweeted a clarification nor have any White House spokespeople spoken on the matter.
The terror group Isis has claimed responsibility for the attack, but that claim has not been confirmed by the authorities.

Trump makes my blood boil. I've been trying very hard lately to wait before commenting on Trump's daily follies. I literally feel like I'm living in a bad episode of the twilight zone...
I just want it to end. I'll take Pence or just about ANYBODY else. But the GOP has to do it, so it probably won't get done and we'll be stuck with Trump for a full term. Such a waste.
I have no idea what makes Trump do the things he does. One day I feel he may be mentally ill, the next day I think he's just stupid, then He'll do something that seems smart, or racist, or presidential, or childish, or etc. You can not nail him down or fit him in any label; he's just Trump.
He doesn't scare me so much any more as just make me furious most days. You can't believe anything from him or the White House. You just get to sit and watch the divisions grow and the government crumble. Sickening.
Trump has single handedly brought the country to it's knees in the eyes of the world. JMHO

daman...Trump used the same story to help get elected and few if any questioned him.
You have to ask yourself, how much what came out of his mouth was a lie..and his supporters didn't even care.
You think any Trump supporters are going to stop supporting Trump because he told the Pershing lie?

He could take a steaming dump on their heads and they would find a way to justify it! trumpians will never disavow him. The pain they felt that made them accept him to begin with is still there, yet now that they've commited to Trump they support him more for the commitment they made than what they expect from him.

It's more likely that some of you would want to impeach Trump because he has to take "a dump" every so often. I am not a Trump supporter. However, the constant attacks on him actually make me dislike the attackers more than him. It's very similar to when Obama was in office. He was getting blamed for everything by the right and many whites. All it did was make people like me support him more and have disdain for the attackers.

I'll give you the SCOTUS promise and some action on the VA, they rest I question. I don't think he's deporting any more illegals than Obama did. I just think the stories are being glamorized now. I don't think 'HE' has done anything significant on the economy or jobs, I think we are riding high expectations like a bubble and they rest is just Obama's carry over. His presidency is less than a year old, no way he's made that much difference. He says he renegotiating trade deals, but I haven't seen any details or any deals signed, have you? On ISIS and other military actions he gets a passing grade, but again I give more credit to the Military leaders and Obama's work than I do to Trump's orders. BUT in the same breath, i have to admit he's been strong in this area. I do fault him on health care, because he tried to take it in the wrong direction. He promised better, cheaper, and for everyone then tried to turn it into a tax cut for the rich and cut 20 million people off. Absolutely his fault. He should have led more and involved the dems. As far as a lot of other things, I agree he's done a lot of things, but most were bad from my perspective. His willy nilly cutting of regs, his appointments, his treatment of old allies, etc. ALL POORLY HANDLED IMHO. So I guess we will agree to disagree.

Wholly crap a politician lied. Stop the presses, hold on to your hat. Of course he lied, I can't remember a politician who didn't lie. Like I said before the election at least he is not smart enough to lie to everybody and get away with it. I would rather somebody lie to my face instead of behind my back. At least with The oompa loompa I can see it coming.

You are funny diam, you went willingly down the same path with Obama supporters a few years back, seems what's good for the goose isn't good for the gander in your mind. I for one don't lump all trump supporters into one group. I think there are reasonable people that felt he's be a good leader because of his business skills. Thus far, what I've seen of that is that he's acting like the CEO of a company that he owns. He tells people (congress) what do to and if they don't, then he tweets about how bad they are. That's not even good in business. He went from having no bosses to having 310 million of them. He'd divided the country with his racist overtones. But it's ok by you I guess. ...

I'm all for trump trashing radical muslims but come on; that insult doesn't even work on muslims anymore they use that insult amongst themselves all the time.
Somebody needs to hand Trump some better insults. 40, Eve. handle that.

The pigs blood stuff. It's lame and ineffective as an insult. It's like going "your mom".

Thats not true OCD .. at least not for all of us ... certainly not for me ... So you are ok with him lying about this, not once, but a number of times? No I'm not OK with it .. it's STUPID!! What am i suppose to do ... hell with him, he lied .. come on man ... Has he lied and does he still lie ... ABSOLUTELY ... and your ok with it apparentlyNo I'm not .. not sure if you've missed or are just taking things and running with them ... I have no other choice ... NONE ... he wants this country a lot more like I'd like to see it than anyone else out there .. by a long shot ... What other choice(s) do i have .... Bush, Hillary, Cruz, Bernie, Rubio, Lyawatha, Kasich, Booker ... sorry man ... I'll stick with this liar ... Thing is .. u guys refuse to aknowledge or admit the things he's done he said he would ... so what, not a big deal. within the first 6 months of the Obama admin, he appointed a Judge, two by his second yearThis thread about him lying ... he did NOT LIE about this ... that makes it a BIG DEAL as it pertains to this thread ... Man .. not being my old self is real hard right now ... *LOL* ... - hes getting things accomplished at the VA ... like exactly what?A bunch ... just the other day he signed a bill that will - build new or replacement facilities at 5 or 6 locations .. maybe more .. can't remember the list ... Just looked it up ... actually 28 new facilities - saved the veterans choice program and expanded it ... - put in new hiring procedures .. - signed another bill that gave vets more educational benefits and gave educational beni's to some that didn't qualify ... There's a ton more ... not going to make a two page list cause u don't know ... your a google master ... if your seriously interested and want to learn ... go use them .. - getting rid of illegals (mostly the criminals) ... look at hat he's all ready done to Ms 13 ... he's also attacking the sanctuary cities ... just because u don't like it doesn't mean he's not doing it .... *L* ... You are gonna have to prove that I don't have to prove anythng to u ... who do u think u are? .... *be nice diam .. be nice ..* ... There's at least three or four articles right in this thread that PROVE IT ... go read them ... From what I can tell, he's actually brought back about 13000 jobs in the Coal Mining industry. Not that he brought them back by himself, but by eliminating Environmental restrictions that allowed for cheaper operation of mines, they hired.U may want to dig a little deeper and increase your knowledge of what he's done ... I'm not going to spend the time to go find everything he's done in this regard ... its a hell of a lot more than 13,000 jobs ... Just because your not aware of it doesn't mean its not happening .. .and its not my job to keep u informed weather u think it is or not ... - re-negotiating trade deals ...which one has he re-negotiated Just this week they started to re-negotiate NAFTA .. he also put together a commission to study trade with China ... Its been 6 months ... he'll get there ... - DEFEATING ISIS ... he did no such thing, he just told you he didThats your opinion .. and the FACTS prove your opinion is wrong ... if u think i take Trumpo at his word ... well your wrong about that also .... once again, not my job to keep u informed ... - its not his fault theres been no movement on the ACA Yes it is. Republicans have the house, senate and 1600 PA Ave. He's saying, give me something to sign, he's not working with the house and senate to devise a plan that will work, he's hindering them by pushing to have anything to sign. Wake upNo it isn't ... so there ... *LOL* ... Wake up? ... dammit .. be nice Diam ... So u don't think he's working on it with the leaders ... OK ... were all entitled to our own opinions ... no matter how IGNORANT they are ... I'm listening,,,,,can't wait to hear what FOX news told you he's done U ASSume an awful lot .. using one source has never been a good idea .. in todays world .. if u use one source your not informed at all ... i also don't just watch or read conservative sites ... again .. in todays world .. if u do that your not very informed and your doing yourself a disservice .. Yeah, it's mostly true that he lies or distorts the truth for his own gain.U know what .. i best go back to IGNORING U ... i feel myself slipping back into the gutter ... i don't want to do that ... Later dude ... Good Luck and Enjoy ...

Some folks believe we must take America back again, but this time from this administration.
I just want to see some concern for America as a whole. Just not happening now. This may help.

Do you still support him? In the sense that I still hope he gets this turned around and makes positive things happen... yes, I still support him. As for him doing what my Aunt Emily does and repeating stupid things she read on Facebook without verifying it's true and then failing to retract when it's pointed out to her that it's not true.. honestly on the scale of things he's done that are in poor taste and show lack of leadership, this barely ranks.. sad as that is.

I'm sorry Diam,,, I guess I should bow to you and the Trump and kiss his ring. He's perfect, He never lies, he doesn't ever do anything that hurts Americans.
He's perfect, his hair is never out of place. I even heard he took a dumb the other day and it didn't stink,,, Just amazing. The best Dumper ever.. The likes of which we've never seen on this planet.
He's perfect, he knows more than the generals about Isis. I know that's true because he said so.
I know he loves all of mankind.. Be they regular Americans or specialty Americans like those in the KKK or the White Supremes.
I know he's never cheated on his wife, I know that there are tons of lies about how many times he's declared Bankruptcy and everything about how many of his vendors he ran out of business with is tacky business practices.. All Lies.. never happened.. All Fake News.
He never tweets anything that is demeaning, that's just the fake news.
He's created jobs, I think 13,000 in the Coal Mining industry alone. Who cares that India has created 100's of thousands of jobs in renewable energy.. Trump knows that renewable energy isn't worth the time and effort... He knows that it will only sink us in the long run.
Yup, I've been wrong all this time, He's a great president and I think we should do away with elections and just name him President for life.
Yup, there is is,, Trump for Life.

Looks like he lied about Afghanistan, too.
Anybody watch that speech? All I could do is shake my head in disgust.

Anybody watch that speech? All I could do is shake my head in disgust. Actually, I don't have much of a problem with that. He essentially admitted he was wrong prior to getting into office about pulling everyone out of there. He even said that he was told that things look different from behind the desk in the oval office. He still talks like a 5 year old even when reading something, but at least I don't have too much trouble with the speech itself.. Other than I don't think that's the speech he wanted to give. But he did so that's fine.

well, i have a massive problem with what he said.
i actually agreed with him when he said we should pull out of afghanistan.
once we caught and killed osama, we should've vacated afghanistan and cut off pakistan from uncle sam's pockets.
instead, all he did was further fuel our military industrial complex. crap is annoying.

I understand that there will be a power vacuum if we leave and that a bad group of muslim extremist might (probably will) fill that void. BUT isn't that what they have done over there for a millenia? Haven't they had constant brutal regime after brutal regime?
I mean I feel for the people that have to endure that but what are we supposed to do? Should we annex them and stay there to protect them forever? Do most even want us there?
And hearing that our war is 40% of their GDP just irks me to no end. THey are profiting off our war to protect them? While our boys die to pay the price? WTF? Pack up, get the hell out and let the chips fall. If another Osama rises, nuke em.

We have learned from Obama's mistakes and will not leave a vacuum in Afghan like he did in Iraq when he basically created ISIS.
When most terrorists are dead and the Taliban decides to be a part of the government instead of fighting it, we can talk of pulling out. Or perhaps we kill the Taliban too. Their choice.
Once things are under control and Afghan can handle the rest themselves, we come home.

we're not winning in afghanistan, and a few thousand troops isn't gonna fix that, either.
we've been there for 16 years. if we haven't won yet under bush and obama, trump isn't gonna win there, either.
we're gonna get soldiers dead and contractors paid. it's sad what Trump announced.

We have not had a Leader like President Trump over those 16 years.
He has simplified the mission. No more Nation Building. No more Funding of those who help our enemies. No more Containment. No more BS. Kill the enemy, use everything at our disposal to kill them. Kill every last one of them if you must. Kill.

you're right. he's the worst president in US History. i really wish and hope Trump will resign. he is unfit for office and completely unfit for the title of commander-in-chief.

That's fine for you to say now 40 but frankly, your fearless wanted them all pulled.. That's exactly what Obama wanted and he found out, just like Trump did, that the vacuum it leaves causes more problems then it's worth long term. So don't get all high and mighty about it. Your guy is a BS artist.. He finally listened to someone other than the squirrel rattling around in his head and may have done the right thing. Even a blind pig finds a truffle. He's doing a campaign type rally in Arizona tonight.. Let's see if he reverts back to the jerk he really is.

President Donald Trump's speech explaining his strategy for the war in Afghanistan continued a new trend in U.S. policy that we can call "The Trump Doctrine." And, in true Trumpian fashion, we can sum up the Trump Doctrine in seven blunt words: "Put up, pay up or shut up."In more detail, this is a doctrine where the U.S. puts pressure on its traditional allies to contribute more towards shared strategic goals. And at the same time, it's a doctrine where the U.S. insists on taking the risk of publicly calling our sometimes hostile allies to take more control of rogue elements in their respective regions of the world. President Trump seems to have settled on this course of action after a series of surprise foreign policy successes. It started when he successfully pressured some of our traditional European allies to up their financial contributions to NATO. Similar, if more gentle, pressure was applied to Japan in the wake of the North Korean nuclear threat, and Tokyo announced it's going to chip in $500 million in new funds for East Asian military security. And then there's the biggest potential success of the Trump tenure so far, as it looks like his public demands that China do something to rein in North Korea's Kim Jong Un has yielded some peaceful results. https://www.cnbc.com/2017/08/22/on-afghanistan-trump-signals-he-can-change.html

This could be a positive moving forward for this admin. We shall see.

we're not winning in afghanistan, and a few thousand troops isn't gonna fix that, either.

we're gonna get soldiers dead and contractors paid. it's sad what Trump announced. Just my opinion but we ether go all in and fix this problem no matter what, or we pull out and forget about it. But this half butt crap is stupid. We either take care of the problems or shut the hell up.

Omg.....
Did y'all watch that rally yesterday in Arizona? What in gods name was that?
This man literally told the crowd that CNN cut off the live feed to the rally.....while I'm sitting there watching the rally on CNN.
He lies just to lie and get cheers. This guy is nothing but a con artist, a fraud, a typical Hollywood elite that conservatives claimed they were against. Just a showman, nothing more.

Yeah and then he defended his comments about Charlottesville but he deleted the part that ticked people off.. And he's willing to shut down the government in order to build a wall that won't help a damn thing. And I think he indicated he's going to pardon the former Sheriff. This guy is an idiot. And to think, yesterday I defended his Monday night presser because I thought the overall message, while vague, was good. The very next day, he turns back into a lunatic. Trump is the political worlds "SYBIL" Gees, what a fricking idiot. and people still follow him.

but it still isn't the majority, which is all that matters.
