Boy, that Michael Jordan never gives up, does he? Now its football he wants to try?
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

You make some good points.
However, every year at this time each NFL team faces these type of decisions. Age, injury history, contract, youth replacement all comes into play.
The Steelers and Patriots also cull veterans that don't play to contract or are coming off injury.
They also cruise other rosters to find guys to fill holes. Even if only for a short period of time.
At this point I don't know if the Browns plan is working or will work in the long run.
Obviously age has been a big factor in their decisions.
In addition they are going to go with the guys they drafted. That is normal for most teams. Until a team has upper management continuity like the Steelers and Pat's it is hard to even have a true report card.
Right now their grade is incomplete.
When an organization has been stripped like the Browns have with heavy emphasis on accumulating draft picks then it all depends on who is drafted.
Those drafted players have to perform. This year Garrett, Peppers, Njoku, Kizer. Last year Coleman, Ogbah, etc.
The drafted players have to contribute along with the other personnel decisions that have been made in FA.
Haslam wants to win. Guys like him with that kind of money are driven by success. They have achieved financial success; so what else is left? Feed their ego's with success in another endeavor.
The Browns record since existence is based upon personnel decisions. Every management group since Paul Brown for the most part has got it wrong.
Haslam, Sashi Brown, Hue Jackson is just another group looking to get it right. It remains to be seen if they will.

Davis 4.36 speed will help and I'm assuming his hands and route running are good. As he is only 170 lbs (6') we seem to have the staff to get him bigger, stronger and faster.
Jordan a 6'1" 202 DB who was a rookie last season with Williams. I would think he know the player well.
McGill...a name that sounds familiar. Young NT was with Seahawks and then Colts don't know much about him...got a bad feeling either we look and let go or possibly Meder is gone???Would prefer Brantley.
Kasem Williams WR all I know is the kid is in his 2nd season and is big...6'1" 219 - was he the kid that took over a game last season late maybe playoffs. ???
Josh Woodrum QB was a rookie last year with the RAVENS. Is this a get the playbook guy for the D against a rival. 6'3" 231 a big strong QB maybe he was going onto the Ravens Practice Squad and we stole him? sounds familiar??? We'll see what this is about. Not sure if Hogan is eligible for the practice squad??? Or we let Kessler go??? Who knows.
Defense wins championships. Watson play your butt off! Go Browns! CHRIST HAS RISEN! GM Strong! & Stay safe everyone!

So in 24 hours we've added Williams, Davis, and Coates to our WR corp.
Let's assume that Coleman is a sure shot to stick.
Coleman Williams Davis Coates
So, either Britt, Higgins, or Louis is gone ... maybe 2

The Coates pickup and the claims tell me that the FO and Coaches view the receiver position as something that needs addressing despite the intensive draft investment last year. I kinda like that to be honest - no one can predict how picks turn out, just don't sit on 'em if they aren't working, always look to improve. Now let's see how the trimming of the roster pans out......

Here ya go,
Patriots '99 starters
QB - Drew Bledsoe RB - Terry Allen FB - Tony Carter WR - Terry Glenn WR - Shawn Jefferson TE - Ben Coates LT - Bruce Armstrong LG - Heath Irwin C - Damien Woody RG - Todd Rucci RT - Zefross Moss
DE - Willie McGinest DE - Brandon Mitchell DT - Chad Eaton DT - Henry Thomas LB - Teddy Bruschi LB - Andy Katzenmoyer LB - Chris Slade CB - Ty Law CB - Steve Israel SS - Lawyer Milloy FS - Chris Carter
K - Adam Vinateri P - Lee Johnson
Patriots '01 starters
QB - Tom Brady RB - Antowain Smith FB - Marc Edwards WR - Troy Brown WR - David Patten TE - Rod Rutledge LT - Matt Light LG - Mike Compton C - Damien Woody RG - Joe Andruzzi RT - Greg Randall
DE - Bobby Hamilton DE - Anthony Pleasant DT - Brandon Mitchell DT - Richard Seymour LB - Roman Phifer LB - Teddy Bruschi LB - Mike Vrabel CB - Ty Law CB - Otis Smith SS - Lawyer Milloy FS - Tebucky Jones
K - Adam Vinateri P - Ken Walter
WOW! Didn't expect that much change over. In 2 years the only player still starting on Offense was C Damien Woody and on defense the only guys the same were DT Brandon Mitchell (who was moved from DE), LB Teddy Bruschi (who was moved from OLB to MLB), CB Ty Law, and SS Lawyer Milloy. Some people don't want the truth my man. Coaches purge rosters all the time. They have for decades.

Hope we can add Holmes and Nacua to the practice squad. (and maybe Higgins too)
Kinda weird that we now have 4 QB. Maybe someone was interested in Cody or Hogan, and they will be on the move?

Did we get Reginald Davis from Texas A&M or Reggie Davis from UGA? UGA, sounds like an Alford replacement.

J/C,
"Davis is a 5-11, 170-pound rookie wide receiver out of Georgia. Originally signed by the Falcons as an undrafted free agent, Davis played in 49 career games for the Bulldogs and hauled in 38 receptions for 618 yards and two touchdowns. A native of Tallahassee, Fla., he graduated from Lincoln High School."
This is a head scratcher. Williams I think was the best of the WR's waived, but Davis?

Yeah, Davis is someone I've literally never heard of. He's surely fast and probably good on STs, but don't see him as an upgrade

It sounds as though he may be considered for a slot receiver. Not sure if we really have anyone else that fits that role outside of Duke, and they may want to still use Duke primarily as a RB.

Remember this FO is using the "moneyball" method, which most people focus on the "money" part of cutting high priced veterans etc, BUT the logic behind it is that you find a lot of guys that do 1 thing well, rather than 1 guy to do all things.
So it's possible Davis does something THE BEST, like, he recovers onside kicks, or catches 3 yard passes but sucks at 1-2 or 4+ ones.
The analytics really go that deep.
They bring in a bunch of guys, see if they can do the 1 thing they're looking for and cut the ones loose that can't.
Same method Pats have been using for years. Just ask Wes Welker and Julian Edelmann if it works :-P
