Nope. I won't. But I'm not the one complaining he's not the team because a "lawyer" traded him.

I don't even think I said he was very good. I think I said he had both good and bad. But was more complimentary than most, I admit.

Let's get real here.

I made a post about R. Johnson getting hurt and how our depth is poor on the OL. You went off and I'm sure WSU did as well.

Name calling, insults, etc.

I have no problem if people disagree w/me.........just like Purp, YTown, and Wyo did. It's called debate. No one insulted one another. It's just an exchange of ideas.

Posters like you ruin this board w/your constant personal vendettas. Stop! Please!

I would put you on ignore like I did WSU, but you do break news and post some good articles.

I am asking you to keep our conversations to football and we both refrain from personal attacks. Is that okay? Or not?

Fixed it for you.

As far as the OL, I think the OL will be fine and people are making mountains out of mole hills. We won't have All-Pro backups but Reiter, Martin, and Drango are passable.

Hind sight is 20/20.

Erving had plenty of opportunity, as you pointed out, about him being above Sterup on the depth chart. Problem is...is that he did not prove his worth to the coaching staff, so he was traded.

I' m not going to say that I am secure in my feelings with Sterup as our backup OT, but no less than if Erving where filling that roster slot. Jmo

Bingo. If either have/had to play a significant amount, we are/were screwed.

I did NOT insult anyone. I was talking football. I gave my opinions on the situation. That's it!!!!

I did not call anyone a name. I didn't make fun of anyone. I gave my thoughts!

I think that you blame me because my opinions don't align w/yours while the opinions of those who start the fights do align w/yours.

That is a common practice on here.

lol none taken brother...I remember I hated him at center and thought he did at bit better at RT...but as a center I called him another Oniel Cousins...

if I praised him I must have had one or two too many beers that night lol...it's possible, but I don't remember ever really endorsing him.

It's all good, my man.

But, I'm still worried about what we're going to do if someone on the OL gets hurt, especially at tackle.

I don't blame you for your opinion, I "blame" you for making everything into a personal vendetta. Your "you are ignoring this user" posts aren't talking football. Your "why is every body picking on me, I was talking football" posts are in fact not talking about football. Taking a page out of mac's book and constantly insisting on referring to Sashi as "the lawyer" isn't really talking about football. Posting about "dumb ass moves" that some people if not agree with can at least understand is insulting to them and the EVP. You take both sides of an argument and think that somehow makes you always right (i.e, Cam Erving is terrible/Why did we trade Erving?)

I posted one line that didn't even blame you, but made it a group effort and then got back to football, and you go off on a non-football, chest-beating soliloquy (monologue or diatribe probably would have been better word choices). Stick to football and there won't be anything for me to call you on.

Cam Erving had too many awful plays, and he couldn't seem to get rid of them. We got rid of him and got a 5th rounder in return. Now we don't have to worry as much about him getting QBs killed while we're distracted by his positive attributes. I'm not sure why you are talking about tackle depth here, as you've always referred to Erving as not a tackle as far as I can remember.

OL depth is pretty sparse in the NFL. There's all the talk of college not getting OL ready anymore. This isn't Madden where you can create players and add them to your team. When teams are justifiably getting rid of recent high draft pick o lineman, what do you want them to do? We could replace our developmental guys with someone elses, but at least we know what we have in ours and how they fit. That being said, we've definitely had worse OL depth on the Browns.

Most are sure that Cam's current employer will have a better record, that's really putting yourself out there oh contrarian one... the question is that is there a marginal benefit at roster spot 47 to 53 to make a difference.

Do yourself a favor, figure out the percentage of NFL exec's with JD's. (that would be lawyer to most)

Erving was very soft as a player
He simply doesn't have the tenacity to cut it as a NFL lineman
A lineman has to have violent hands and bulldozer mentality
He had neither
A change of scenary wont help him
He will be out of the league in 2 years

j/c...wish the drama would cease, lets get back to football.

1. Preseason depth chart does not hold much as facts of who is better than who.

2. Greco, I went back and took a look again at that Bears game where Greco played most of it. He did not look like the Greco of old. Once he had to move he looked like he was taking his steps gingerly and also way more erect from when I remember watching him. Combo, Age, Contract and not back from his injury was I think the basis of the decision.

Erving - I defended him at every turn waiting for his technique to get him off his heels which unfortunately he never seemed to conquer that. I thought he did look the most comfortable at OT.
Please keep in mind pre-draft I campaigned on NOT GETTING HIM.
As always I tried to make lemonade once a Brown.

We will not lose games because we traded him. I think there was no chance in heck we were going to renew his contract and more than likely we were going to release him but came away with a 5th round pick for him.

Any OL IN THE NFL will have difficulties if they Lose more than one of their starters. We will not be an exception to that.

Sterup has not looked that bad for a guy I never heard of before becoming a Brown.

jmho

I agree and he was getting handled by second teasers at times. To his defense, I wouldn't be surprised if he's not 100% and add in age, final year of contract, etc. this was a logical move. I did not focus on his play in the other three games where it makes more sense since he's put up against first-teamers. Maybe I'll go back and look at those games too.

i agree ... i remember seeing him the first few times in camp and thinking he was so SOFT and WEAK. just got manhandled and never really got better

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

I don't care if the guy that traded Erving was a welder. He still got it right.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Not only 'right', but some sort of a magician as well. We should all root for Erving to do well...at least well-enough so as to meet whatever 'conditions' are part of the 5th Rd pick. That's really all that matters now.

The problem isn't that Sashi is a lawyer -- Steve Young is a lawyer. The problem is that we have a Harvard guy calling the shots. He's not even calling them, they're making these as a group. These Harvard guys have turned a traditional role into the Supreme Court. Sad.

It's like being caught in a time warp.

No matter how many times the situation has played out, it never changes. The participants are almost always the same.

Whether the questioning of some of the moves by Policy, Butch, Savage, H and H, Farmer, etc the bashing never changes. Question a move or moves and one is a hater, whiner, hypocrite, crybaby, dumb, clueless, contrarian, agenda driven, etc, etc, etc.

Then reality hits.

And then it starts all over again.

It used to be fun. Now, it's just old.

I think our OL depth has taken a major step back and that it will almost certainly become an issue during the course of the year.
