As I recall Bush refused to believe the inspectors in Iraq when they said they didn't find chemical weapons. His claim was that they had tons of WMD. Considering the track record there, maybe we should listen this time.

And it sounds like you would have preferred no deal with Iran to stop them from building a nuclear weapon. That must mean you love the position we're in with N. Korea. Had no deal have been reached, you would be blaming Obama when Iran developed a nuclear bomb because he "didn't do anything".

And the president also threatened to stop trade with any nation that trades with North Korea. The countries that most trade with HK are Pakistan, Russia, India and China. I assume that was directed at China. With about 600 billion a year of trade between us and China, to simply cut off trade with China is not a realistic statement and somewhat foolish to even tweet.

And China also said that if NK strikes first, they have to defend themselves, but we shall not initiate a first strike.

The Chinese ambassador to the United Nations on Monday encouraged dialogue to deal with the North Korean threat.

During an emergency meeting of the U.N. Security Council, Liu Jieyi said the situation on the Korean peninsula is "deteriorating constantly" and the issue needs to be resolved "peacefully."

"China will never allow chaos and war on the peninsula," he said.

"The parties concerned must strengthen their sense of urgency, take due responsibilities, play their due roles, take practical measures, make joint efforts together to ease the situation, restart the dialogue and talks and prevent further deterioration of the situation on the peninsula."
His comments come after North Korea claimed it successfully tested a miniaturized hydrogen bomb capable of fitting on an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM).

said Pyongyang would face a "massive military response" should it threaten the U.S. or its allies.

U.S. ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley

said Monday that North Korea's leader, Kim Jong Un, is "begging for war" with his "abusive use of missiles."

“The time for half measures in the security council is over," Haley said during the emergency meeting of the U.N. Security Council.

"The time has come to exhaust all of our diplomatic means before it is too late. We must now adopt the strongest possible measures. Kim Jong Un’s action cannot be seen as defensive."

Just as I stated in my original post...

If I was President Trump, this is how I would handle the NK problem...

First I would look at my position as President of the United States of America. I will be crucified in the Press no matter what I do with NK. We have the Nations greatest flood and the Media attacks my wife's shoes and hammers me for not hugging enough people.

Second I would look at our Government and see where, the Democrats, are not on board with anything I propose or do.
I also have the Establishment Republicans trying to undo my Presidency.

I can not trust the FBI, CIA, or NSA to give me correct information, to back me up, or to not leak secrets to the Media or NK for that matter in an effort to undo my Presidency. They have been doing these things since I was sworn in.

The American People, as split and vindictive as many of them are, may not support any decision I make with the NK situation. This is an unknown.

So...

I would do nothing but threaten and bluster.
I would not attack NK unless first attacked by them.
If they launch a Hydrogen Bomb Warhead on an ICBM, I would attempt to shoot it down.

It's very simple. You suggested the inspectors were lying. I simply pointed out what happened the last time we followed that idea. Sorry that bothers you.

And, it doesn't seem all that long ago we were told NK would take years to develop an ICBM capable of reaching the u.s.

And they were 10+ years away from having a nuke.

I was referring to people who actually did hands on inspections showing people were adhering to agreements. Not prognosticators. Guessing from afar is much different than people with eyes on things.

Like I said, Iraq and their WMD's is a perfect example of this.

The accusation was that Sadaam had tons stockpiled. This was some weapons dealer that had far less than anything described that was leftover from the 80's.

Nowhere did it say that the Iraqi government or Sadaam had any WMD's. Nowhere did it say they were stockpiled. Nowhere was it described as tons.
