This isn't going to be popular, but it's my honest opinion.
I believe those who support keeping DACA in place while it's in direct contradiction to our immigration laws are doing so from an emotional standpoint. I do understand that but this program wasn't done the right way from the beginning. Now had Obama have pardoned them all, that would have been withing his presidential power to do so. However, I don't believe that it's even legal for a president to make an executive order that overrides the rule of law. That's exactly what he did.
The court system and congress has that power, but not the president. As such, there's no doubt in my mind that Trump is doing what should have been done in the first place.
I know that's not the popular thing to say. But when you take all of the emotion and feelings out of it and look at the law, there's only one real way to address this. Change the law. Good Post. I agree.

I agree with you Pit, it is an emotional issue. I keep thinking about what if Trump were president when my grandfathers both came over from Italy. All my grandfathers kids were born here in America so it's not exactly the same situation as the Dreamers. But similar.
(by the way, Italians and Irish back then were thought of much like Trump thinks of the Mexicans today so the similarity in regard to that is stunning)
I believe it was 1924, some guy with the last name laughlin (sp) put up a similar plan of exclusion and later it was killed. I guess we can't learn from our past.

Nancy Pelosi called President Trump this morning and told him what the people of DACA need right now is reassurance from you Mr.President that the 6 month period Congress has to write a law on DACA is not a period of "roundup" for those people.
Trump sent a tweet...
"For all of those (DACA) that are concerned about your status during the 6 month period, you have nothing to worry about- No action."

Nancy probably started out by telling Trump how nice it is to hear the good coverage and how the people responded in favor of 'his' bipartisanship... So of course he jumped on twitter and did what she wanted. He's a man-child seeking approval and acceptance. I'm happy the dem leadership found this opening. She probably didn't mention that it helped her numbers too and got her some great press, he wouldn't be able to deal with that.

This is terrible.
man.....we're not being a great nation right now. sorry but i'm thoroughly disgusted with Trump and Sessions right now.
and then Trump didn't even have the balls to announce this himself, after declaring "We love the Dreamers".
This might be one of the wisest things Trump has done since entering office.. speaking purely politically. It has all of the makings of a plan that, for him, cannot fail. Maybe he is finally learning how to play "politics"... He rescinds DACA, making his base very happy... he gives congress 6 months to come up with permanent legislation to replace it... if congress succeeds, he can sign the bill and say, "See, I don't hate them, I just wanted it done in a constitutional way." If they fail to come up with anything, he can say, "I tried to make this binding law, congress just couldn't get it done." And either way, Obama doesn't look good because he had a chance to make this binding law rather than executive order and couldn't get it done, even when he had a majority... This is well played.. and I hope that congress comes up with something that makes sense that many can live with... Something that doesn't break up families or create mass hysteria or leave well-meaning Americans living in fear...but also something that doesn't leave those still in Mexico on a mad dash for the border... it is certainly a multi-faceted problem. Heres a problem you are not taking into consideration, they are not Americans. Should they be, I personally think yes we should create a pathway to citizenship for them. But they are not Americans until LEGISLATION states they are. No President can make them Americans with a pen, sorry.

Heres a problem you are not taking into consideration, they are not Americans. I am absolutely taking that into consideration... what those who support the continuation of DACA aren't taking into consideration is exactly what Obama said when he signed it.. 1. It's temporary, it is not a permanent solution 2. It's not a pathway to citizenship 3. It's a relief period until congress can find a permanent solution Well, it's been 5 years since he signed his "temporary" law and nobody seemed to have any interest in finding that permanent solution.. to the best of my knowledge, he never pushed it again after that... Trump is pushing for that permanent solution and the only way to get Congress interested in finding one is to pull their little safety net out from under them.
