As I stated to 40, how is that a double standard from black people?
Isn't that a double standard from whoever runs ESPN? I didn't ask schilling to be fired just like I didn't ask hill to be fired.
If hill doesn't get fired, is that her fault or the white guy who runs ESPN? Isn't that a double standard from the white guy?
So again, I'm looking for proof that somehow black people have a double standard, and nobody has yet to provide any evidence. That is a good point as white people supported Jimmy the Greek but white management fired him. Blacks support her and white management is afraid to fire her.

No you didn't. ESPN tried to discipline her, her co-workers defended her and ESPN lost that fight. There isn't a double standard, they are two separate issues due to the response of the workers.

However you want to look at it, but Vers stated there was a double standard from Black people, and that was false and I stated why.
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”

You have evidence that coworkers didn't stand up for Schilling, Cohn and the rest of of the white employees that were fired for the same basic thing? If not then you're speculating. In my eyes there is a blatant double standard at ESPN.

I am going to be as clear as I can. The double standard comes from the public outcry over one issue while either ignoring, deflecting, or even applauding similar acts committed in another issue.
I really could care less if closed-minded people like Swish and CHS don't like what I have to say.
I don't care if white bigots don't like what I have to say about white prejudice against blacks.
There are people on both sides that are impeding our progress as a society. I don't like any of you. You are a problem.
The logical folks need to speak up more and shut down the hate from the extremists on both sides!
We need to work together instead of furthering the divide.

But we can't have a Civil War if everyone is on the same side! Sheeze.

These are rough numbers, but approximately 620,000 Americans died in the Civil War. All the other wars and conflicts that we've had totals around 644,000 combined.
Yet, dumb asses on both sides want to further the divide and start another war in the United States!
We need to squash this in the name of peace and progress.

And you are one of the guys that I have no hope for.
It is still my hope that the logical and rational among us squash the extremists on both sides.
I've said this before, but I'd love to wall all y'all in somewhere far away from me and let you systematically eliminate one another so the rest of us can live in relative peach.
Maybe it could be a Reality TV show? Week 1: 40 vs Swish in a fight to death. Week 2, Eric vs CHS. Week 3 Even against OCD, Perfect, and others....LOL

I have a better idea... let's give this country back to it's rightful owners and the rest of us can get the hell out. Or we can ask a tribe to accept us.

jc this is a long post, so i gave a warning. after this, i'm done with Vers for here on out. we have nothing left to talk about. So when i read this post, i laughed, and was just gonna post something silly just to further infuriate guys like Vers, Haus, 40, and Eve. then i decided to pull the Clem approach (not bringing you in, just giving props) and took a step back, read and broke down the post, and give a well, thought out response. which is why i have to respectfully pull Eve and 40 out of this convo. because unlike Vers and Haus, they at least have a position and/or beliefs, and stick to their guns unless a piece of evidence makes them consider otherwise. i will point out what i observe to support my overall stance. so, let's get down to it: are you too oblivious to understand that you are the very problem you continue to whine about? you insult posters all the time, whether it's here or in the football threads, then turn around and play victim, acting as if you're only trying to bridge the gap. it's funny because with all the beef that happens on this board, the one thing that DOES unite people around here is being in agreement on how annoying and divisive you are, no matter what sub-forum we are in. you are disliked in pure football. you are disliked in gameday. you are disliked in tailgate. you are disliked here. but to the topic... _____________ Vers, you said this: I am going to be as clear as I can. The double standard comes from the public outcry over one issue while either ignoring, deflecting, or even applauding similar acts committed in another issue.
which is odd because you previously said this: This thread is not about White Supremacists. It's about the double standard that blacks like you have.
so does the double standard come from blacks, or from the public outcry? which is it? you then said this:
I really could care less if closed-minded people like Swish and CHS don't like what I have to say.
which is again odd, because you previously said this: You refuse to talk about the issue and change the argument w/your constant insults.
so for somebody apparently not caring what 'close-minded' posters like CHS and myself say, you sure do show the opposite. again, odd. you then said this:
There are people on both sides that are impeding our progress as a society. I don't like any of you. You are a problem.
and then two sentences later, said this: We need to work together instead of furthering the divide.
how does that work when you said this? I have given up on you and no longer wish to converse w/you because you don't know how to converse w/fairness and intelligence.
____________________ ladies and gentlemen, i present to you exhibit A as to why the fence riding is god awful annoying. this is exactly what happens when you have no position on anything. when you don't stand for anything. when you can't make up your mind on anything. Vers is all over the place with his opinion. does he care about cHS and my opinion, or doesn't he? is he furthering the divide by insulting posters, or does he want to bridge the gap? does he like boxers or briefs? i mean look at the guy. he just made this post:
Maybe it could be a Reality TV show? Week 1: 40 vs Swish in a fight to death. Week 2, Eric vs CHS. Week 3 Even against OCD, Perfect, and others....LOL
how does a guy who has beef with this many posters possibly have any moral authority and credibility to talk about working together to continue progressing society? the answer: he doesn't. you keep playing both sides, but you haven't pointed out any double standards, you haven't offered up ANY sort of solution, you haven't even progressed your own thread. you just sit there and whine on and on about both sides this and that....but offer no solutions to any of it. you have no position, you're indecisive, you fence ride, and all you do is complain and take no action. in society that makes you useless. i want you to seriously understand that. it is a lot easier to argue with 40 and Eve over you, Haus, and some other posters. why? because at least they take a position on issues. which means we have actual countered each other in post and such with evidence. you, Haus, and others? i have learned ZERO from you guys, because your opinions and positions change as often as you change underwear. one day you're against white supremacist, the other day, it's somehow the liberals fault as to why they got violent in charlottesville. Haus is the same way; says a whole lot of nothing, and then doesn't even bother to offer up a solution to whatever whining he plans on doing that day. as far as i'm concerned, you two are twins. so yea, there's no reason to make intelligent post toward you because you give me no reason to. but here's a pro tip: get your boys on this boards phone number and address. that way if stuff hits the fan in this country, you and Haus and others can go hide in the basement with the women and children, complaining about "both sides" being at fault, while the real men go off and defend their beliefs and values. i have no time for indecisive, fence riding, "both sides" useless people. I'm thankful everyday that i don't have to deal with you in real life, and our only interaction is a message board. as military leaders throughout history have said : indecisiveness will get you killed.

Nice post. I think I agree with most of it.
Although, you list names, and then put "and others" behind the names.........list them all. ?
Anyway, I left this morning to go to a volleyball Tri meet. Took longer than anyone thought it would. (Sooga was back in the starting rotation and had a good day)
Went from the volleyball games out to eat with 14 other friends - and some of them were from the schools Archbold played.
As we were waiting for our food, watching college football, the guy I was sitting next to made this comment: "Why is Akron call the Zips?" I don't know. Akron is the rubber capital of the world.
Then another team "name" came up, and I again said "I don't know why they're called that."
And then he asked me why the Univ. of Toledo was called the Rockets.
I just looked at him and said "you don't know?" He said no. "Well, the guy that founded the U. of Toledo was named Roger Rocket."
He believed me............up until I couldn't keep a straight face anymore.
So, wife and I get home, I get on the computer - to this site, wondering what I missed on this gorgeous Saturday. And I start reading. And I see: I didn't miss a dang thing.

Sorry I havent been around to debate/argue much. I'm going to stay out of that argument.
Too many things going on. And kinda burnt out on these debates. We need something new to debate about.
Been on an American Sniper kick and spent all week reading Chris's book. Good read. Then when you watch the movie you see details that were in the book you wouldnt have noticed before. I am all about that the last few weeks.
Plus getting ready to go to the range. Cleaned my gun, ordered a new hat. Bought ammo. Now all I need to do is go there. Finally. lol

I couldn't care less what you think of me but understand this: You are not Clem. You do not sound or write anything like him. You do not regularly take the moral high road like Clem does. Well thought out response... it was long. That's about all I can say about it.

I am not going to argue w/him. He is part of the problem that I was speaking of and it's a waste of time. He's part of the problem and not the solution.
Just last week, the dude said he was going to ignore me until 2018. On this thread, he said I was "irrelevant." Kinda odd how much time his phony ass spends on someone who he is ignoring and considers irrelevant.

Took you a week to read that book? You MUST be busy. And just a heads up.......clean your gun AFTER you go to the range. Ammo? Buy in bulk when it's cheap. Store it. Then, when you want to go shoot, you just go. And you shoot. Easier for me, I know. I just go in the back yard. Although, here recently, I've been shooting my bow. But dang girl, clean your gun AFTER you shoot, not before. Your gun/s will appreciate it.

I finished it. It is mostly details about the 4 tours he was on, and what it was like to be a seal, and be in battle. Most of the book is about the battles he was in. And some thoughts from his wife here and there. I felt bad for her, it was very tough on her.
At the end they had tributes/words from friends and family. And it made me bawl.
I learned a lot about the military and the Iraq war I didnt know before. So much respect for all of you military men, and families who give up so much to protect the country.

man...that isn't suppressive fire or a typical fire fight. dude HAS to watch the body drop to confirm the kill.
what that does to a man psyche....you got me wanting to read the book now.

I read the book over a year ago. It blows the movie away. Like you I'm former military and respect his service.
Believe it or not, his psyche is catching a lot of flack. People are calling Chris Kyle racist because he refers to the enemy as savages. I'd like to take a bat to those peoples heads.
We can't even honor an American hero anymore. I say we need to erect a statue but hell, somebody will want it removed.

You really shouldn't 'break' a gun-- at least any gun that you would rely on for home defense or what not. That's usually the sign of a faulty or low quality gun or just extremely careless upkeep. The manual that came with the gun should give you a fairly decent guide about how to clean it, where to lube, and all that. If not there then many online communities have that sort of thing.

I love how a thread about black person calling our president a white supremacist and other blacks either ignoring, deflecting, or even applauding such a reprehensible act turns into how to clean a gun.
And again..............the more that people ignore this issue, the more they lose people like me. And despite what one poster claims..........we really are not irrelevant.

thsts because there's always gonna be people who don't understand the mentality, which is normal.
I saw the backlash dude got and it honestly ticked me off to the bones. But I have to constantly remind myself that most civilians just don't really know unless somebody breaks it down for them.
Since I didn't read the book, I can't speak on if Chris meant all of them are savages, however I can speak on the mentality DURING deployment, as it's the right mindset to have.
Why wouldn't you refer to your enemy as savages? It's a mindset that has been passed down since the first battle in human history.
You call your enemy insults and names as a way to dehumanize them, that way it's easy to pull the trigger when engaged in combat. People have their opinions on how I think of people in the Middle East, but in every deployment, when I arrived in the sandbox, those guys were nothing more than monsters that needed to be put down, in my eyes. Every last one of them bro.
You can't be thinking about their economic situation in the middle of a damn fire fight. That nonsense soft crap will get you and your buddies killed. There are no "both sides are to blame"
You are either with us, or you're against us.
A lot of people have a hard time understanding that, which again is normal. Why should they know that mentality? The closest any civilian will come to that is playing sports.
But some people are just nasty people, bro. I even saw some guys trashing his wife. I wish I could legally be allowed to put my hands on people who bring in a dead mans family in a disgusting political post.
The problem is that we've allowed dehumanizing to leak into our daily lives for decades in this country, and it's bearing fruit again.

It wasnt really broken, its just a model that is extremely difficult to take apart and put back together and I couldnt do it..
They told me to not bother taking it apart after that. So I just run the snake through it and use the solvent and oil with a brush.

Only on Dawgtalkers, right? You're right about there being a double standard. There are better examples but it's late and I don't have the energy for a complicated and controversial topic right now. This thread had devolved into mindless personal attacks. The discussion about gun cleaning and mentality when deployed is at least useful or interesting. In any case, it's better than the mud slinging drudgery that has been going on too often here.

I read the book over a year ago. It blows the movie away. Like you I'm former military and respect his service.
Believe it or not, his psyche is catching a lot of flack. People are calling Chris Kyle racist because he refers to the enemy as savages. I'd like to take a bat to those peoples heads. It probably doesn't help when he brags about sniping looters on top of super dome during Katrina...

No you didn't. ESPN tried to discipline her, her co-workers defended her and ESPN lost that fight. There isn't a double standard, they are two separate issues due to the response of the workers. You have evidence that coworkers didn't stand up for Schilling, Cohn and the rest of of the white employees that were fired for the same basic thing? If not then you're speculating. In my eyes there is a blatant double standard at ESPN. Yeah. The evidence is that Schilling, Cohn and Bill O'Rielly's coworkers didn't say a darn thing. They didn't say, they wouldn't do their job because those people were being unfairly punished. Whether you like it or not, when someone pushes a birther rumor about Obama and are endorsed by white supremacists, you might be confused for a white supremacist. Personally, for me, I don't think he is. But I can see the case. Especially for idpol ppl.
