I'd rather him play Point Guard over D-Rose than SG over JR.

not me, he could save alot of wear and tear by playing SG over PG, and JR isn't that great as a starting SG, he doesn't have any mid range or finishing ability, 3 and thats it, atleast with wade you'll get a more rounded game from that position

Cavaliers' Thomas could return to action before January

https://www.thescore.com/news/1382625

New Cleveland Cavaliers guard Isaiah Thomas could be back on the hardwood sooner than many expected.

The 28-year-old All-Star has resumed on-court activities, and the team announced during its media day Monday that he could return before January, as he's made "real progress," according to Cleveland.com's Joe Vardon.

The Cavaliers were previously reluctant to put a timetable on Thomas' progress as he works his way back from a much-publicized hip injury, although the goal has always been for him to play as soon as possible.

He's had three weeks to rehab with his new squad after being acquired in a blockbuster deal that sent Kyrie Irving to the Boston Celtics. Thomas has begun working with weights, running in the pool and on a weightless treadmill, doing hip stretches, and shooting stationary shots.

The severity of the injury nearly put the kibosh on the trade, with Cleveland ultimately holding out for more assets - coming in the form of an extra draft pick - to complete it.

While he's sidelined, Derrick Rose and Jose Calderon will handle point guard duties for the reigning Eastern Conference champions.

Thomas was named to the All-NBA second team last season as a member of the 53-29 Celtics, averaging 28.9 points on 46.3 percent shooting from the field and nearly 38 percent from 3-point range, along with 5.9 assists and 2.7 rebounds per game.

I love how petty LeBron is:

Quote:
LeBron James on Kyrie Irving: "I was ready to give him the keys...I tried to help him be as good as he could be...I don't have any advice for him now, you're either with us or against us...it was a gratifying three years together." He said he hasn't communicated with Irving since trade.

Boston won't get higher than 4th seed.

Who's better than them? The Cavs for sure, but they don't care about the regular season. The Raptors and Wizards, maybe and probably not. The Eastern Conference is a mess. They should walk into at least the number three seed.

That depends on:

A. Whether kyrie can stay healthy or not

B. If the players they lost this offseason severely affects the team or not, and

C. If the current roster even fits together. Which will depend a lot on how Scenario A plays out.

Even with all those factors, they still have one of the best teams. The East is a joke.

I got us, wizards, raptors, and heat being better than Boston.

Understandable, but from a talent standpoint the Celtics are better than three of those teams.

I'm betting on the Celtics before I bet on the Heat, Raptors, and Wizards.

This season will be super fun and interesting even if we already know the final outcome.

I want to see what the wizards look like this year. John wall gets better every season.

And Bradley Beal stepping up more.

The team that neither have us have mentioned but might have the highest upside is the Bucks. If Giannis can step up one more level they will be scary.

I thought Giannis was the best player in the All-Star game last year. He certainly has the potential.

I forgot about the bucks. They might have a squad.

He's probably a top five to seven player in the league right now. And doesn't turn 23 until December. And he can't shoot all that well (that we know of).

I probably would have done that if I were the Cavs. Let's be real. The Cavs are making the finals no matter what and [probably] losing to the Warriors.

Get Carmelo. If LeBron leaves after the season, Melo opts out. Salary off the books, rebuild starts.

I mentioned that earlier, I think there are two things that might have made them pass, NY asking for one our firsts, or Cavs FO have an idea that lebron is going to stay.

Still don't really. TT is a PF playing center, it works because we play small quite a bit. We have tavares and Zizic and love in a pinch. Or a FA like Len, Hibbert, or Splitter. Basically what I'm trying to say is if NY takes shump back as well or they don't ask for a first, I think its alot harder for the Cavs to say no. Theres crazy talk that NO might ship out both Cousins (cavs) and Davis (Boston) if they don't make playoffs again this year

Cousins is a free agent after this season. I'm wondering if you mean they start out slow, realize the twin towers isn't working and then ship him to the Cavs for the Nets1st (and Shump?).

yeah basically if it looks like it isn't working hitting reset and get some assets to rebuild.

Would the Cavs give up the Nets1st pick for a free-agent-to-be Cousins? If Lebron says he's staying and Cousins would sign an extension, of course. Not sure about the other ways though.

Again, it comes down to how much Gilbert wants to win one more before Lebron leaves (assuming he leaves).

If we know anything about LeBron it's that he's not going to tell anyone anything until the latest possible time.

What about that is petty?

Woj is saying that Wade is pretty close to signing with the Cavs for the year. I wonder who gets dropped from the roster, as we already have 15 guys under contract.

I’d look for a trade to happen to get the spot, maybe shumpert and out second or something

I would certainly miss the occasional amazement I get from the "Shump Trifecta"

1. Air Ball a 3
2. Insane Crazy Dunk
3. Dumb reach in Foul

Like seriously. I don't think I've seen someone be so awesome and so terrible on consecutive possessions.

I'm talking on the same possession! Several times last year he would slice through a defense with almost Kyrie-like precision, get to the bucket, and then either jam it off the back of the rim or just plain miss the layup.

Yeah, it was shocking how he could go from stud to dud in a split second. crazy

He's a perfect fit if he's coming off the bench!!

Welcome to the land, Wade!!!

I dunno. I don't see him starting over JR.

The starting 5 would *could* be:

James
Love
JR
TT
Rose (til IT comes back)

Then off the bench:

.....holy crap we have so much depth now.
