Any League built on parity - A team cannot survive 5 turnovers. Pure and simple. Another one score game against a supposed superior opponent. Close is only good in other games not football.

I don't have time to read....last golf before surgery tomorrow.
But I can imagine the Back up QB mentality is better than the starter.

Hogan came in the Ravens had no idea Kizer was hurt (migranes)
So they are thinking Wildcat stuff and he had some wide open WRs to throw to - pretty nice march down field with our first TD.
After that they started treating him like a back up QB and brought on the pressure. He hit some passes but it was pure luck...like the great catch by Duke down the left side of the field deep...that had INT written all over it and it wasn't even intended for Duke.

For the record this is why I campaigned for Kessler to be the QB. He is safe and accurate cause I was ASSuming that our D would be good and we couldn't afford to make mistakes. Eliminate mistakes our D is good enough to carry the O on its back!

I didn't like the Dropped passes.

I wish to release Coates he's either an Idiot or a complete malcontent. He didn't finish routes which if covered was designed for others to be open. Also for example on a deep throw to the right side. He stops and Jumps as high as he could to almost touch the ball soaring over his head...HUH...friggen turn on the jets and run under that ball. What kind of crap is this. Get him out of here.

Too many drops. Louis is growing on me he made some tough catches and didn't fear the hit. DeValve is probably our most dependable WR out there.

They took our running game away and I really didn't like the horizontal runs in the beginning.

Lets just go into the 2nd quarter and give teams a 7 point lead. We should have scripted plays that are executed and successful!

I saw our 3 LBs play a little off their game...maybe trying to do too much as we were down and the O turning the ball over.

We averaged something like 3rd and 14 for the entire game!

Our special teams were good.

Love our Kicker Gonzalez I just feel confident in him.

Peppers missed a tackle early but recovered and had a good game I love the way he wraps. Boughty is good also, we didn't lose this game because of our DBs and D.

Flacco was on the top of his game figures, we instill confidence in him. We got to start beating these guys so they don't feel so comfortable!

Pissed at the Refs in that last minute drive by Ravens at the end of the half. Maclin's forward progress was clearly stopped and driven backwards out of bounds. The refs didn't even place it at forward progress they placed it where he went out of bounds...hmmm Bookies involved...that just looked so High School and not NFL. It something I never see them do in any game...NEVER. So 2nd and 9 without using their last timeout.

Long long run to the 4 with 5 seconds left and the Ravens are able to use that final timeout...it should have been used already no way they could set up and spike the ball on a long run with just 5 seconds. Just cheating refs on that and that was the difference of the game!

Oh and for the back up is better don't forget it was his INT that took away our possible FG/TD and created that scenario.

Well got to run and try to avoid the rain! What did you all see

Will be back maybe later. But won't be around for a couple of days. Also that Jose guy is going to bring water in my house while I'm at the Hospital!

Sorry two score game not ONE!!! for some reason I thought we made it 17...smh that's how disappointed I was I guess...lol laugh

Just a couple quick observations:

- a superb catch by Duke, but what was he doing in that area?
- Collins seemed off his game, not sharp.
- first and goal from the 4 and we lose yards. Good grief!
- we are getting decent pressure and collapsing the pocket, but not enough sacks.

Thanks, eo. Get back here soon...

Yes. A lot of plays I saw him loafing and looked like a smaller version of Ted Washington with his effort. I was thinking he was injured or something. He whiffed that tackle too and got dominated by a smaller RB that he had a perfect chance to wrap up and get down.

Way off his game.

We committed (5) turnovers and lost by "only" (2) touchdowns.

(2) of the turnovers were in the red zone

(2) of the turnovers were quickly turned into TDs for the Rats

The game ended when Hogan threw that pick - after a gift FG attempt by the Rats - and we turned +3 going into halftime into -7.

I'm juuuuuuuust about done with Britt and am completely done with Crow. The eye-test effort from those two is weak.

Hue's constant pre-snap shifting is creating a lot of delay penalties

We have a real defense (finally) but still cannot stop a TE

The number of stupid, crushing penalties we commit is astounding. The personal foul against Kirksey turned a likely -3 into a -7...and the call was complete BS.

Colquitt is a very good punter...Gonzales doesn't make me nervous

I like the deep safety idea...would prefer it be a good (5) yards less-deep though.

At least we are a young team with a chance to clean up the mistakes...a chance...rather than a quasi-vet team that still bones up a game.

Britt is garbage. And I am not even talking about the drops. I watched him multiple times put 0 effort into trying to make a catch. One play he would have needed to dive to make the catch, but it looked he slowed up to me. The one pass that was high and the def almost picked, he gave 0 effort to try to break up the def and the ball. He needs cut today.

Higgins played extremely well. Can he keep it up?

Coleman had I think 7 targets and 1 catch. I know a lot of them may not have been catchable, but I believe he dropped 1 or 2 as well. Then gets hurt to boot, time to rethink him being anywhere near a #1 receiver.

Njoku is a freak athlete and just needs time. I know a lot guys have been hard on him, but he is sooooo young, and so talented physically.

Zane might be the best pick of the draft lol

Peppers had a error, but then played well. I think he will be the most consistent player we drafted when its said and done (minus Zane of course).

WE NEED PLAYMAKERS BADLY- if this game and last do not tell you that, or think they are overrated, you need to watch a different sport.

Kizer - He is our starting QB, idc how badly he played (migrane to consider), you can just see a difference in his throw than you saw in Hogan. Stop with the Hogan should start stuff. I like Hogan, but he is a backup at best. I don't think his arm is much better than Kesslers.

CROW is not a quality NFL starting back. I am sorry. He is a #2. Lacks vision and dare I say effort?

DeValve has been a very welcomed surprise.

We have 4 very winnable games coming up, and I think we should be favored in 3 of them. Indy, Cinci, Jets, Hou. These are the games we will really get a feel for these kids and their motivation to win. I have seen it on the def side of the ball. ALL of our issues seem to be offensively. Effort is the last issue I want to see, but we are seeing it on that side of the ball. Britt and Crow mainly. And those are Vets.

I seen a overped linebacking crew play touch football instead of tackle
Flacco had so much time to set throw complete passes
Maxx Williams was running over 2 3 Browns getting yards after catch do any of the Browns TES do that?
Ben Watson looked like a All Pro out there is he that hard to cover,?
I saw one wr that wanted to play Higgins

The LB didnt play bad until the end of the game - when they had been on the field for the majority of it. Even the announcers noticed this and mentioned it.

I agree both Ben and Flacco have had too much time, that's not on the LB in my opinion, it seems Williams is not callilng the aggressive game plan the last two weeks that he was brought here to do, and was as advertised. Is he that afraid to get beat deep? Although starting down 7-0 in both games, makes you call a little more conservatively....

to address your other complaints

Maxx WIlliams is a BIGGGGGG BOY, he is going to run people over, especially on a warm hot day that the def has been on the field for a while.

Watson was benefiting from our scheme, playing Peppers that far back, is going to open up the middle of the field for days.

-It took awhile until they put someone on Watson, but when they did he became less of a factor.
-defensively it seemed like the scheme was 'basic' on 1st and 2nd down, but we had no problem getting the penetration to disrupt Flacco on 3rd down. We had a lot of nice stops... I just wish we could see those blitzes more often.
-I couldn't believe how far and how fast Larry kept getting in to the backfield!

Offensively..
-first off, hats off to Higgins... he had a game that Coleman should be having week in and week out.
-It seemed to me that the older our receiver, the slower he was... they couldn't get any separation. I know the concept should go without saying, but it's not like our more experienced guys are all that old frown
-Njoku made a helluva TD catch!
-It's taking too long to get up to the line. From what I understand Kizer's playbook isn't paired down. That's a credit to him, but on the other hand I'd like to see it scaled back to get him some success. Hogan comes in and it looked like no one had a problem getting open. He also got rid of quicker. But when Kizer comes back in and I watch the camera angle from behind him, Ravens DB's were all over or guys. IMO that ha more to do with the play calling.
-Speaking of which... Hue still refuses to commit to the run like he keeps saying we are going to do. I just don't understand it. It was a possession or 2 before Kizer came out and the run game was starting to come on, we come out and throw it all 3 downs.. I'm like wth?

-Generally speaking, I like Hue and he's done some really great things with this team since he came to Cleveland. But he can't help but outsmarting himself. If we're going to commit to the run game, then commit to it. We beefed up our OLine. Crow sucks when we start getting fancy. Just pound the ball down their throats! Crows one big run came when it was a simple play up the gut. That's where he kept breaking off the big runs last year. We will not be able to run against top LBers by stretching the play out.
-Shon Coleman had a tough day to say the least. For a second year guy I think he did as well as one could expect against a guy like Suggs.

Britt is absolute garbage. Coates, too?

I agree with him. I think Hogan shows very good ball placement skills and gets rid of that ball fast. He clearly shows he sees the field better too. I see some nice skills on him. I loved what I saw from him in his short time in there. Your welcome to not like him Eotab but other than his draft spot what do you have against his game footage? Saying that in a nice way so don't get me wrong =)

Does it even matter?

Clearly the problem isn't the QB. Problem is that we have no run game,no Wr's an no TE. Qb's can only make plays by risking a lot.

A QB can be situationaly successful, but opponents will adapt and take that away.

Meanwhile we have an horrid pass D, our run D regressed, no running game, horrid OL play, and the blame is on the QB....

I don't know what game you watching...Hogan came out and hit some wide open WRs - RAVENS were playing against Wildcat. But when they realized Kizer was hurt and played a regular pressured defense and even on his completions his accuracy was not there.
I think he makes a good backup and he is obviously pretty football intelligent. But to remotely think he is THE ANSWER is silly to me. I just don't get it when others go otherwise.
Not trying to insult or anything I just don't get it.

Hogan is not the answer to all our problems (or any), but one thing I will say is that his ball placement did seem to look a little better than Kizer's.

Over the last 2 games, Kizer's ball placement seemed inconsistent, at best. WR's seem to be diving all over the place to make catches.

That's to be expected. KH has more reps i.e. more experience than DK. Our QB's would look better if we had a better running game and playmakers at the WR position. We may have a future playmaker at TE but he's not there yet.

I think Hue needs to simplify the playbook to give Kiser or Hogan a better chance. All the pre-snap shifting and moving people around is getting confusing. It's true that Hue is overthinking the playcalling, just keep it simple. Watching the Ravens offense was a thing of beauty. Simply routes, Flacco getting the ball out of his hands quickly, straight up running plays, no read-options, simple roll outs, all that stuff is why we got little pressure on them.

Crowell is a good back, but the plays are not to his strength. He's a downhill runner and that is what we need to do with him. Stop the shotgun-handoff, it's not the right play for him.

As for Britt, I don't expect him to catch 85 passes for 1200 yards, but I do expect him to catch some passes, and to block, and to be a pro since we are paying him. If he wants to give on plays, then Haslem can give up on paying him.

I disagree w/your take on the playcalling. Not bashing you. I just disagree.

There are plays there. Kize is just processing things very slowly and his accuracy has been atrocious. Add in that our receivers are dropping passes. Our WRs are not good route runners, other than Higgens. Also, our offensive line has been terrible at run blocking.

That's not play calling. That is a lack of experience and talent on the offensive side of the ball.

I just don't know how it's possible for our OL to be so poor at run blocking. The line was supposed to be our strength .... Zeitler, Bitonio, Thomas are considered GOOD pros.

hey tab,

hmmm...I have to say that the TD throw to Njoku was perfectly thrown in double coverage, away from the defenders. and one hell of good catch from our TE.

not all of his throws were to wide open WR's...most were on point, darn good ones from what I saw.

lol now I have to go watch again to make sure...

what else I saw.

Higgans seemed to step up. perhaps putting him on the practice squad might have woke him up.

no run game, no run blocking

good pass protection.

Kindred I think has stepped up. one hellva diving deflection.

Kizer missed reads. held ball too long. some laser throws on target but too inconsistant for me.

Hogan to me looked good again...but I have a thread for that.

Duke is awesome

Duke is someone who I trust to always make a play. It seems like his rate of touch to production is much higher than anyone else we have.

I would like to say one thing. This is still a new O to: Kizer, Tretter, Zeitler...Britt, Njoku. Also this is an OL that has "TALENT" but do not have that cohesiveness yet.
Not making excuses just stating facts.

We have played against two top defenses who know our system maybe as well as our offensive players. I would like to see how our offense works against a mediocre Defense. Leslie is now on our practice squad...I'm telling you all we went for tall big WRs in numbers hoping a couple will stick to the wall...guys like Higgins, Leslie are not hot items cause they don't have super speed, size, but what they do have is good route running skills and excellent hands.

I mean if we got stuff pretty much set...I don't mind us using a 1st round pick on a Julio Jones type of WR. But to win a championship that is not necessary. Sorry for this hypothesis on a What I saw thread...but I hope it fits in what I have seen. I did not want Kizer to start this year but he is the most TALENTED QB on our roster. So I get it and once you commit to that you got to stick with it.

The Colts game is big...if Kizer turns the ball over and we do not fare well it could put our QB process on the shelf. If he does not make mistakes and we get our 1st win...look for that to cement him as our starter for the rest of the year. I would check into that migraine thing. If was just dehydration then no big deal. DIAM...did he have Migraine issues in college?

Take care guys - my surgery did not do well now I have to fight to keep my leg. Will probably have my important surgery first Tuesday in October. Need your prayers... I'll be around until that Day...then I don't know, Maybe I'll do some posts on my phone???

I saw us play with the rats ... they didn't out physical us, they didn't beat us up and they didn't outplay us .... we beat ourselves ...

I saw us out gain the rats .... never thought we'd get close to 400 yards ... 386 i believe was the final total ...

I saw Duke Johnson earn more touches and opportunities ... hes good ... that was a GREAT CATCH .... he's so quick ...

I saw Peppers miss 2 or 3 tackles pretty bad and saw him make a bunch of nice tackles ... very inconsistent day for him ... he closes to fast and "runs" himself out of the play by running by the ball carrier ... thats fixable, hopefully he learns to tone the "aggression" down on those plays ...

I saw Hue abandon the running game ... we did gain 386 yards against a very good D ... hopefully this was just a one game glitch ...

Last but most importantly i saw us lose once again ... sad part is we literally gave the game away ..

There's no one else on offense I can say the same thing about. We need to clone him x5.

You will be in my prayers EO.

Thank you...I'll be honest I got a little scared.
Don't forget to keep praying for GM he needs it more. But thank you I believe the power of prayers. Now if we can only pray for the Browns...lol I don't know why I feel funny adding them into my prayers.

Diam...as mentioned in this NFL you just will not win many games when you have 5 turnovers.

Peppers...he has to get use to Williams placement of him so deep cause that requires him to come up with sprint speed instead of a controlled Tempo speed. I wish Duke had just a little more Top end speed he would be a complete game breaker.
I can't wait to see this kid Davis in and catch the ball in space.

I'm surprised we haven't put Duke at the slot or out wide and use him as the Jett motion guy...giving him the ball once a blue moon and even a reverse from that. But it could open up a lane for Crowell as a single back. jmho

Defense wins championships. Watson play your butt off!
