One interesting chat I had with some guys at the bar, the seat of wisdom and hindsight, I know, was with all the picks and all the cap space and what we might have done in FA, why are we so pathetically bad. Point made and taken was our drafts, last year and especially this one, would have been incredible if handed to some other NFL clubs. The patsies for example came up. I am not buying all this rah-rah. I expect problems; I understand all coaches struggle. But dead last lousy? I am frustrated; but part of this is our FO handling, part is Hue and his coaches, and the players' output and achievement. Not comforted by Hue saying Haslam has his back; that is like the kiss of death right there.

Doing bad stuff better isn't going to do it. To change, decide to do different stuff, and do that better. That is stupidly simple. And we insist on the same insipid offensive mix, and the dumb Peppers body of work. If you see Taylor on the corner, give him a hand.

Overestimating the overrated will not yield overachievers. It will fail and disappoint. Sell out to having impact. Do a few things lights out better like running the ball and catching it. Help Britt or sit him.

Osweiler not being on this roster is because of the FO, not Hue IMO. That doesn't mean Hue wanted him, I'm not saying that. It's just that the plan from Day 1 of the BO trade was trying to flip him to another team. It was all about the draft pick.

i think hue was going to start OSweiler. thats why he is gone. funny how joe thomas said he talks to hue about things like that and joe said OSweiler was going to be the starter.

Is this why Osweiler didn't play at all in the third or fourth preseason game?

Where have you been for the past 5-6 years, hell, teams have been doing that since Mancini left.
Opposing teams know they don't have to show up and give great effort. They just need to show up and wait for the Clowns to beat themselves,or perhaps play one quarter and that would be enough.

Bottom line is people believe what they want to believe.

I kind of agree w/what you said except for the cfrs part.

A person would have to beyond clueless to not believe that the FO is behind Kizer starting. There is quite a bit of evidence to support that.

But, like you say, people are hypocrites when it comes to believing what they want to believe.

I get it. It's much more palatable to blame Hue for everything than the FO. It's way easier to fire a coach and keep the people upstairs in place.

Thus, people ignore the evidence and place all the blame on the coach. It's the same old song and dance.

Yes, but I thought you said there wasn't any evidence of the FO not having a say in who started at QB?

You're kind of all over the place here.

Bryce Treggs jumps at opportunity afforded by Browns

BEREA, Ohio -- Bryce Treggs got in Tuesday night at 11 p.m. The Browns had signed him off the Eagles practice squad and he decided, after giving Philadelphia a chance to match the offer, to come to Cleveland.

"Philly agreed to match (Cleveland's offer)," Treggs said, "but at the end of the day, I wanted to get on the field. I want to play."

Playing was the catch. The Eagles weren't willing to elevate Treggs to their active roster, just match the minimum salary the Browns are required to pay him by signing him off another team's practice squad.

Treggs has a connection to head coach Hue Jackson. He recruited his dad, Brian, out of high school and the younger Treggs had a chance to meet Jackson at Cal's pro day when he caught passes for quarterback Jared Goff.

Jackson sold Treggs on coming to Cleveland with the promise of utilizing the things he does well.

"He has top-end speed. He has suddenness. He has quickness," Jackson said. "I have always known that about him. I really like him."

"He just said, everything that I've seen on tape, we're going to put that to use," Treggs said. "We're going to put your skill set to use. We're going to give you a chance to make plays for us. That's all I wanted as a football player. The money is great. But that's not really why I play. I want to be out there making plays in front of people and helping a team win games."

My question is why didn't this know it all front office didnt try to acquire Sammy Watkins when the Bills were dangling him
The Rams have up a 2nd rd pick .
Thats it !!!!
All I've seen thus so far is one scrap heap WR after another.
Castoff wr traded for another
It's apparent this front office isn't about winning but rather making excuses.
The Browns the only NFL franchise where winning is a 7 year plan

That's nice, but sooner rather than later, we are going to need some guys who know how to run good routes and make sight adjustments and hot reads.

Hate that our WR's are struggling so, but hopefully this experience will be a learning one for our front office. And hopefully this will shift their 'analytic calculator' when it comes to assessing WR talent.

Hopefully, we will get a football guy in here who understands things such as route running, making hot reads and sight adjustments, consistent hands, etc rather than SPARQ scores.

JMHO, we all have heard/read about peter principle...I just wonder how many times Britt was THE MAN...he's pressing big time and his performance is WAY OFF- guess it proves he's human...no one wants to screw up and he has by the numbers- the FO took Coleman, who was rated real high...did they know he had brittle bones...did anyone...hindsight is always 20/20 I want us to take the best receiver available next draft, hope he's got better bones.....GO Browns!!!!

I would change that statement from rather than SPARQ scores to as well as SPARQ scores. I think everything you mentioned is important including SPARQ scores. I don't want to put words in your mouth but I think that is what you meant. SPARQ is a useful number but shouldn't be the only factor. Shouldn't even be the primary factor but it does deserve consideration. At least in my opinion.

Brittle bones and muscle. If he's not dealing with a hamstring, something is likely broken.

Horrible, flat out horrible draft selection.

You insist on asking for PROOF...and yet you insist you "OPINION" do not need any. Don't you see the irony?

j/c...back to the thread.

Living in Giant country. They are at their wits end. I think they are going to blow this up. If so I think we could offer one of our First round picks for Beckham. Curious to what will happen. Again another strong contender for a stud QB at the next draft and doing their best to obtain one...even if it is not done on purpose.

I wouldn't touch Beckham regardless how bad we need some sort of WR option. His attitude is rotten.

I would consider trading for Odell Beckham. One thing he has going for him is age. He's about to turn 25, which is the age when people tend to "grow up." I can attest to that personally, as I'm 26 and only in the last two years have I really started to get my act together.

A trade could be humbling for him, and we certainly have the salary cap to pay him what he deserves. I understand his frustration with the Giants being unwilling to pay him.

Immaturity aside, he'd be a wonderful asset to assist Deshone Kizer in his developing. Giving Kizer an elite target would be incredibly helpful.

I doubt it happens, however, but it would be a welcome addition. My only two concerns: Firstly, you have to find out if he's really interested in coming to Cleveland. He has to want to be a Cleveland Brown. Secondly, and obviously, it has to be a sign and trade with his extension ready to sign. Third, it would have to come with an unspoke clause: If we're giving up a first for a receiver, it means we're legitimately building around Kizer for the next few years.

I think it's funny how Browns fans put his attitude over his ability. I could sit here and name many WR's that were prima donnas that had great NFL careers.

Yet people sit here, with almost zero talent at the WR position and would be willing to turn away top flight talent at the position because, "we don't like his attitude".

It's stupidity like this that sometimes makes me think our fans get what they deserve.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I agree, but also disagree. It isn't just attitude, it's that the attitude is keeping him off the field. I think our fans, and this team, would tolerate almost anything if a guy was busting his ass to results on a Sunday. I'd take an in-their-prime group of TO, Ocho and Moss with no hesitation. The difference between them and Flash is that they were on the field to be a diva, and they backed up that attitude with results.

Josh could be the same, he just can't seem to stay on the field to long enough to achieve the results. I don't blame anyone for being at their wits end.

I was actually responding to the comments about Odell Beckham Jr. The people who said they wouldn't want him because of his attitude.

Well since it seems all of those great options we've taken have failed miserably, we shouldn't try to get a premiere WR.

And in case you missed it, which you obviously did, I was referring to people who used his attitude as their reasoning for not wanting him here, not the value perspective.

Better luck next time.

I would be worried about how him and his attitude would handle coming to Cleveland, catching passes from who knows which QB, playing on a losing team. I see a Dwayne-Bowe-situation-on-steroids happening (the guy just checking out and not contributing, except this time we gave up big time resources to bring him in).

But despite all that... yeah, we're in no position to turn away top-tier talent.

There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

His ATTITUDE is the only reason i wouldn't want him here ... I'd have ZERO problem investing in him minus the attitude ... I'd gladly give up any pick in the first round (unless its a top pick and a franchise qb has a shot to there) and make them the highest paid WR in football for say Mike Evans, Hopkins or a few of the other YOUNG STUD WR'S ...

If not wanting Beck NOW cause of his tude makes me an idiot ... I'll gladly wear that moniker ....

it was nauseating. i remember feeling so depressed after round 2. I'm not someone who claims to always be right about drafts, but I knew that one sucked.

Got news for you.

Almost all Great WRs out there have attitude. A rare few do not.
Julio, and I do not know who else.

I don't mind some Tude if we get the best WR in the NFL on our team. And I'm not a big fan of investment a lot in a WR. But I don't mind doing so when they are the best.

What if his recent frustrations and attitude are because of losing games? If so, then bringing him to Cleveland is a bad idea.
