How about the play where he dusted Talib on a slant play? So nasty

Will WR Josh Gordon return to the NFL? Is Gordon a Changed Man?
Former Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon plans to apply for NFL reinstatement. Will the 26 year-old return to the National Football League?

Some people love him, some people hate him, but Josh Gordon is one of the most talented and rawly gifted athletes of this generation. One of the most polarizing NFL players in recent years released an interview / documentary produced by Uninterupted, a digital media company owned by LeBron James and Maverick Carter.

While on a three-day break from in-patient care for addiction, Gordon opened up about his past, including his drug abuse, his previous mindset and the evolution of his thought process. He seemed honest in the interview, speaking about subjects he never dared to speak of in the past.

"I think it might be therapeutic for me to talk about it," said Gordon.

Gordon admitted to being enabled throughout his entire life. Many people, including a coach at Baylor, helped Gordon cover up his drug use due to his incredible talent. Everyone just wanted him on the field.

Gordon trained for the first time since he signed into rehab in the mini-documentary with former Olympic gold medal sprinter Tim Montgomery. The former Cleveland Brown looked strong and fast but perhaps a bit out of shape.

More than a month later, Gordon is out of rehab, living in Gainesville, Florida with his business manager, Michael Johnson, continuing to get in game-shape. He has yet to apply for reinstatement to the NFL but can do so whenever he chooses.

Gordon has a significant history of breaking the rules, using banned substances and laughing in the face of authority.

"I've used alcohol on many, many occasions, Xanax on many occasions, cocaine several occasions, marijuana most of my life, codeine, cough syrup, promethazine is very prevalent where I'm from,'' Gordon admitted. "It's what I grew up using.''

In 2010, his sophomore year at Baylor, Gordon was cited on misdemeanor drug charges after police found marijuana in the vehicle. Less than a year later, he was suspended indefinitely from Baylor after failing a drug test for marijuana. In the summer of 2012, Gordon applied for the NFL supplemental draft, where he was selected in the second round by the Cleveland Browns. He signed a four-year, $5.3 million dollar deal with the Browns and played a decent rookie season, compiling 50 receptions, 805 yards and five touchdowns.

After playing in all 16 games as a rookie, Gordon got into his first known trouble as a professional athlete in 2013 when he tested positive for codeine and received his first NFL suspension (of which there would be many more to come). At the time, Gordon claimed he was prescribed cough syrup by a doctor. However, we now know from his confession that he has abused opiates. He was suspended for the first two games of the 2013-14 NFL season. This was also the first time he entered rehab but admitted in the interview that his first attempt at rehabilitation was just for show.

"My first thought was, 'this is a publicity stunt. This is just going to help the media deal with me. It's going to help the fans be able to deal with it. I don't know what they're so worked up for anyway.' I definitely wasn't listening. I definitely wasn't paying attention. 'Okay, it's a business move. Alright, cool let's do it.' I was there for like 14-15 days, it was a joke. It was pretty much a vacation. I had a bunch of good gourmet meals and took a little break and then got right back to work."

Despite playing just 14-of-16 games that year, Gordon somehow put together one of the most miraculous seasons by a second-year wide receiver to date. He become the first player in NFL history to post two consecutive 200-yard receiving games ( and led the league in receiving yards (1,646 on 87 receptions). Gordon had officially arrived to stardom. He was a first-team All-Pro wide receiver and was voted into the Pro Bowl.

What goes up most come down and Gordon's career came crashing to earth after his Pro Bowl-season. On July 5, 2014, he was arrested for suspicion of driving while impaired. Gordon avoided jail time for his DWI but the NFL wasn't as lenient as the United States court. Gordon was suspended for a full season as his life began to crumble, though he didn't know it at the time.

He managed to reduce the suspension to 10 games and dominated the Falcons in his season debut to the tune of 8 receptions for 120 yards but did little else in the few remaining games that season.

"I needed six games for (the season) to count as fully accrued towards being a restricted free agent the next year. I was suspended 10, got to play the last five. The sixth game, end of the season, stayed out late but the thing is we had to be up in the morning for like a 7:30 team meeting."

Needless to say, things didn't go too well after that. Gordon had blacked out and awoke to several texts from the coaching staff wondering where he was. The team was flying that day and when Gordon finally showed up, he was told he would not be getting on that air plane. As that plane departed, a piece of Gordon's aspirations and dreams departed as well. He was suspended by his own team for the final game of the season. The combination of not being able to play in the season finale and failing to become a free agent (which likely would have resulted in a huge pay day), led to more drug abuse.

On January 25, 2015, Gordon was suspended indefinitely for violating the NFL's drug and alcohol policy yet again.

"I got suspended for the entire year and after that it kind of all came in from all angles, different fans, everybody kind of was like 'oh, you're a piece of [censored], you're a drug addict, you're a junkie, whatever, you're alcoholic. So at that point, I was like, 'if you all want me to be this guy so bad, that's just what I'm going to be.'"

On July 25, 2016, the NFL announced the wide receiver would be reinstated after serving a four-game suspension. Before he could make his long awaited debut, he voluntarily entered an in-patient rehabilitation facility and returned to the league's suspended list. Commissioner Roger Goodell denied his latest attempt for reinstatement on May 11 but the commissioner will have to make a much more difficult decision once Gordon applies for reinstatement this time. Gordon appears to be clean, sober and in great shape. It's quite a miracle when you think about where he was not too long ago.

"I found myself around the city of Gainesville just wandering, looking for a drug dealer. Looking for people on the street corner, whatever, smelled like weed, somebody that looked like they had something, asking random people, knocking on like smoke shop storefronts seeing where I could find some stuff. I was just looking for something, some type of relief... I was walking down (the boulevard) at 11:30 at night, and that night in particular I couldn't find anybody with drugs and I just began to have a flashback and remembered all the negative things that have happened in my life that transpired, like what led up to this point? How did it get this bad? Like 'It's so dark out here, I'm all alone, what the hell am I doing?' I was scared. I was scared for my life."

Josh Gordon once had a promising career. Addiction crushed everything he ever had in life. Now that he's sober, will Gordon return to the NFL? Will Roger Goodell reinstate the talented wideout? Will the Cleveland Browns welcome the 26 year-old wide receiver back with warm arms? Only time will tell, but that time is coming soon.

wasnt sure if this was thrown up yet or not.

if it was sorry didn't want to read the last few pages.

Addiction in it's purest form will crush a life. I watched my sister go through with meth. absolutely devastating.

that being said. I would love a come back story...

WR Josh Gordon arrives in New York seeking reinstatement
Could the receiver's banishment soon come to an end?

Josh Gordon has spent the past month training for a potential NFL return in Florida.

It is not clear whether or not the Cleveland Browns wide receiver has officially applied for reinstatement. On Tuesday, he posted a story to his Snapchat claiming that he had arrived at the John F. Kennedy International Airport in Jamaica, New York, which is located in Queens - a borough of New York City. ESPN's Adam Schefter claims that Gordon is meeting with the NFL Tuesday and the Browns could look to trade his rights before the 4 PM ET deadline.

In a mini-documentary last month, Gordon revealed that he has an immense amount of respect for Commissioner Roger Goodell.

"I've been able to sit down with Roger Goodell and talk to him in many instances while I was just worried for my career. He gave me some of the most honest answers and information and advice that anyone could give to you. I respect Roger Goodell. He gets a bad rep because people don't understand him and they don't know him.

For me, he's a great guy. He's a great man. He's been a friend to me. He's been a mentor to me in a way in which he may not even understand. I've voiced my opinion to him and told him how bad and desperately I want to get better and wanted to stop drinking. I don't want to do this anymore. I want the opportunity to get my life back."

On January 25, 2015, Gordon was suspended indefinitely for violating the NFL's drug and alcohol policy. On July 25, 2016, the NFL announced the wide receiver would be reinstated after serving a four game suspension. Before he could make his long awaited debut, he voluntarily entered an in-patient rehabilitation facility. He returned to the league's suspended list. Commissioner Roger Goodell denied his latest attempt for reinstatement on May 11.

Gordon, who is now 26 years old, has recorded 161 receptions for 2,754 yards and 14 touchdowns in his career. The Baylor product was a second round choice in the 2012 NFL Supplemental Draft. Of a potential 80 regular season games since he entered the league, he has played in just 35.

If he accrues a full season in 2017 - meaning he has played at least six games - he is scheduled to become a restricted free agent next off-season. Gordon is technically still fulfilling a four year deal worth $5,341,648 that he signed after being drafted. His money has been deferred since he was suspended indefinitely.

Cleveland is desperately in need of wide receiver talent but it remains unclear if the organization would allow Gordon another chance. They have been unable to part ways with him while he remains on the league's suspension list.

If they reinstate him and the Browns are dumb enough to keep and play him... I hope Hue rides him real tough, like a rented mule for the remainder of the season. It's payback time. You left us high and ummmmm... high. Get to work. And after practice stay in the locker room and do the team laundry.

If I'm Haslam, and I know I'm going to fire everyone, there is no way I let the people in charge trade Josh Gordon. Let the new people decide what to do with him next year.

If he is reinstated this week, he'll get his 6 games in and will be a FA next year.

Report: Three teams emerge as suitors for Josh Gordon

Josh Gordon already has a few teams keeping an eye on what happens with his reinstatement.

Anthony Broome - 30 minutes ago

Josh Gordon has not played in an NFL since the 2014 season, but he is still eyeballing a return to the league.

The 26-year-old wide receiver was spotted in New York on Monday as he plans to meet with the league to discuss his reinstatement as rumors swirl about the Cleveland Browns looking to trade his rights to another team.

It appears a few have emerged as possible suitors.

According to Eric Galko of Optimum Scouting, the Minnesota Vikings, New England Patriots and Denver Broncos are teams to keep an eye on if he is released or traded.

Gordon's best year in the league came in 2013, when he had 87 receptions for 1,646 yards and nine touchdowns. Since then, it has been a roller coaster battle for him to stay on the field.

He has had problems with marijuana usage throughout his playing career dating back to college. He has been suspended multiple times by the NFL, the most recent of which was a season-long ban during the 2015 season.

Gordon applied for reinstatement in 2016, but was denied in March amid reports that he failed another drug test. After being reinstated later that year, he checked himself into a rehab facility, putting his NFL career on hold.

His most-recent attempt to get back in action came earlier this year, but he was denied reinstatement from the league in May.

Josh Gordon - WR - Browns

Updating an earlier item, Josh Gordon's reinstatement hearing is scheduled for Wednesday. It makes it less likely that Gordon's rights are traded ahead of Tuesday's deadline, but it's still a possibility. It's also possible Gordon is simply waived upon reinstatement, though the receiver-desperate Browns may think twice about that.

I do too. It's not enough just to want to stop being addicted however. Maybe this is the time and place for it. Maybe not.

Well yeah. Not much of a choice since the NFL set his reinstatement meeting one day after the the 2017 trade deadline. Goodell tied our hands once again.

We can't trade him after the trade deadline which has just passed and we can't waive him until he's reinstated.

I've always advocated cutting him. Instantly, no questions asked.

Given how we are, how low how things have transpired... if he truly looked like he's cleaned up, ready to commit both on and off the field - play him.

How much lower are we by playing him, if the things above and he's reinstated? Heh, none IMO.

On a serious note. Should we consider trading for Jarvis Landry? Apparently he is on the block as well.

With the lack of production we've had in the passing game, I seriously doubt he goes anywhere. If I'm running the Browns, and they reinstate him, I let him participate in practice for two weeks (there goes that 6 game thing) and let him play out the rest of the season.

Next year he plays the full year, and I TAG him the year after that. All the while trying to fix the rest of this offense and sign him to as sweet a deal as I can once he hits the market.

WE DON'T NEED A QB BEFORE WE GET A LINE THAT CAN PROTECT HIM

I want to pat myself on the back because Nostradumbass the blind squirrel found a nut yesterday when I posted about this in the Bryant thread. Downright prophetic of me.

Does this make me an NFL insider? Take that, Tony Grossi.

On the serious note, I'd be so excited to have Josh back. Understandably, he's against the odds to ever be what he was and to do it for an extended period of time, but we sure could use him right about now.

I'd hazard a guess that he'll already be the best receiver on our roster by the time we travel to Detroit. Hopefully he and Deshone can link up over the next two weeks and get plenty of work in.

Josh being granted reinstatement would be huge. I wish the kid well. He honestly seems like a really nice guy who just lost his way.

While I think thwts stupid... I understand it... If hue is adamant that McCarron can come in an be a legit qb then i understand the high price... I wouldn't have done it... But I understand if hue was adamant we get him no matter what...
