Seriously though, and no offence to diam, intelligent Americans can't be proud of their president. How could they be?

I ask that myself almost every day.

Yet, there are some Americans who will staunchly defend him 'against outsiders' even if he embarrasses them (the 'crazy Uncle Don' syndrome). And still other Americans who actually admire him for his behavioral traits (those folks puzzle me the most).

And there are some who voted for him/against HRC, and have just continued on with their lives, not being too involved with the political day-to-day.


I'm embarrassed by him when I talk to my international friends, but others' mileage may vary, and for as many different reasons as there are folks, I guess.

Can't take issue with a single thing you wrote.

I guess I struggle with this.. as a person who could probably be best described as "center/right"... I disagreed with a lot of Obama's policies and was vocal in my disagreement. But when he took the microphone or when he met with foreign leaders or travelled abroad, I worried that he might reach decisions I disagreed with but I never really worried that he was going to come off looking like a total goofball of whom I had to be embarrassed..

Now some of what Trump has done with decisions and policy I've agreed with, some I've disagreed with.. but he looks like a total goofball almost every single day. And yes, I do wonder each and every time he gives a speech or meets with foreign leaders (or opens Twitter) if he is somehow going to embarrass himself, and by association as an American, me.

It's one thing to be "an outsider" and not be a "career politician".. I was in favor of getting a little more of that in Washington, DC... but when your secretary of state, a guy YOU hand picked for the job, calls you a moron.. then you retaliate by challenging him to an IQ test.. I mean, who does that? That's middle school playground type of stuff.. and these guys are supposed to be leading the free world and keeping us all safe and they are letting this adolescent war of words to play out for all to see...

The guy could be a combination of Reagan, Kennedy, and Roosevelt when it comes to policy but he still looks like Eric Cartman in the way he conducts himself.
