If all parts remain, which I believe they should, I feel a couple of adjustments could help tremendously. On the FO side of things, I think most of us agree that another voice or 2-3 that has experience in roster decision making would help. I like Scot McCloughan, dude is knowledgeable and was a big part of Seattle's emergence. I am also intrigued by Peyton Manning as he has a lot of traits that people look for when attempting to find the right person for a job. Adding to the FO as opposed to it blowing up would be a big statement.
As many have stated, Hue should stay, but an OC would help. I don't feel an OC is as necessary as FO help. But, as has been said many times on this forum, Coaching a team this young takes a lot of effort, and I feel that calling the plays on top of everything else hurts Hue's overall performance on game day.
But, the number one thing to be addressed is the position of quarterback. I like Kizer, and in 2-3 years he might be a top 10 QB. But there is no way of knowing that right now, nor will it be evident by time the draft comes around in 2018. I feel we need to bring in a solid veteran QB via free agency. I feel we need to take the #1 QB prospect at the top of the draft and let Kessler, Kizer and the new additions battle it out at camp. The time for compiling draft capital is over, we need the best draft in the history of the NFL to turn things around. Now if we were able to land Jimmy G or Cousins via FA, I don't think we should draft a QB.
I feel that we are still rebounding from the Savage, Holmgrem and Farmer regimes. I think that we had a tremendous amount of atrocious draft picks leading up to 2016 that would have made it difficult for any GM to be extremely successful. This regime has a plan and have stuck to it. Clearly we are not where we want to be, but improvement has been made. The defense, although far from perfect is much improved from the O'Niel/ Pettine D's that folded at the end of every half and game for 2 straight years. We went from being ranked 32nd against the run to a top 5 run defense, that is a start.
I do feel we will find a way to get a win or 2 this season. I feel the Ravens are beatable as are the Bengals. Not saying that those are the games we will win, but I don't feel it is an impossible feat.

I honestly don't see the Wr's getting open in a consistent base, what I see is our Wr's getting beaten on release, and consistently being redirected to where the D wants, namely very close to the sidelines, where its very hard for the QB to place the ball. I watched Kizer and Hogan dink and dunk.. over throw and underthrow... and then throw a deep ball to somebody who was well covered.. I watched it every Sunday this year... Then I saw Kessler come in and find guys in that mid range on the outside.. found a guy on a nice seam route down the field.. cropped a nice touch pass over the head of a defender... so either the play calling or WR play greatly improved when Kessler came in or he saw something the other two didn't see.. it's a shame a nice 20 yard seam routes takes 8 seconds to get there with Kessler or he could be pretty good.

I hate this kind of reactions... There has to be accountability in the decisions, and when somebody points to the obvious, you have to recognize you failed, and do something to change your process, or at least re access your position. If not we are always going to do the same errors. Unless you are a lunatic, and really believe that our draft choice have been the best...

Please stop making things up. There is no evidence that Hue didn't want Myles and/or Watson. Zero. Take them with a grain of salt, but rumors before the draft were that the front office wanted Trubisky and Hue Jackson/the coaching staff wanted Myles Garrett. As far as the Watson thing goes, the only thing we know on that front is that Hue Jackson says he did not text Watson, "Be ready."

I think its more to do with risk management. When you come into a team you have a boom or bust attitude, you have nothing to lose if you fail. So you are willing to take risks, and will throw the ball into tighter windows. Sometimes is a question of the QB's having "history" with the Wr's and not trusting them, even when the Wr's are not playing that bad (Couch and Frye, come to mind). For the last seasons, I think the main problem has been the Wr's and Te's. Its not like all our WR's were failing (Gordon and Pryor)... You can see if a Wr is playing good or bad by the respect the D shows, for me its the best indicator, and believe me, the D's we have been facing have very little respect for our players, its not the QB's.... I use the same rule of thumb for our D, by the way. So when I seen the O exploiting over and over the same player and showing no respect for him (Haden and Peppers, for example) I have problems saying that they are playing well.

If the HC has no inputs on the draft, the FO should just say that and clear the HC from the individual decisions. If on the other hand, the decision has the input of the HC, then he should stand by his decision and assume the responsibility. The fact that we in the Browns never know, is the sign of a dysfunctional organization. At least Butch and Crennel had no problem with it. If its the Owner, then its the Owner. We all fail and have bad decisions, but only some can learn from the mistakes.

I think most NFL organizations run in the way you are describing (meaning we don't know whose pick is whose).

I think most NFL organizations run in the way you are describing (meaning we don't know whose pick is whose). I don't think so. Even in Cleveland Butch davis had no problems owning his responsibility in several picks, namely the Winslow one, and Romeo Crennel when he passed N'Gata for Wembley. That's how you do it,IMHO. That's one of the main, if not the major problem of the Browns. Everybody is looking for excuses... So when ever I see a trade down in the Draft, it's someone taking the easy way-out. The gutsy option would be to draft Watson, but instead we traded down, so its time to assume you either lack the QB evaluation skills, or that you are just someone that can't make the hard decisions. And one thing for sure, the current FO has made so many hard decisions, and no problems owning up to them, that I don't see any problems for them to admit to have passed on Wentz and Watson against the HC judgment (and I honestly think that they did it on the draft and on the cuts...)

There are some articles pushed as fact. I think you always need to find what was actually said by Hue, or Sashi, or whomever. A lot of times the rest of the article is mostly opined by the writer. The current rumor out there is that Kessler is a Sashi QB and Kizer is the Hue QB. Well... Hue said the most important trait in a quarterback is accuracy. Enter Cody Kessler. Hue said trust him. http://www.clevelandbrowns.com/news/arti...8c-fa06693a1ce4Then the next year Hue is loving the size and arm strength of Kizer and thinks he can teach accuracy. Hmmm... Two separate quarterbacks drafted by two separate people or is Hue being wishy-washy? And of course, Hue is obviously involved in the process. http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2017/01/sashi_brown_hue_jackson.htmlAnd now... Hue also partly reprimands Kizer for being out late saying his quarterback wouldn't do that and then later says his quarterback can do as he pleases as long as he gets his work in... https://247sports.com/nfl/cleveland-brow...nd-Br-109372319 Of all the people in place within the organization, Hue is the one with the biggest question mark in my mind...

I'm not sure if this will make sense to anyone but me, but I think we need the iron fist to go with Hue's velvet glove. Track down someone to be the assistant-HC with a focus on discipline rather than O or D. Hue saves face (by avoiding demotion to OC.), but we get something resembling a firm hand on the rudder. I think a coach that puts bounties on players heads has that covered

1) time for trading back in the draft should be over.
2) our first pick should be a QB then BPA from that point on.
3) I think Hue might benefit from an OC
4) this off season we need to go after the top FA WR's period.
5) run the ball at least 20 times a game.
thats all I got for now... So, take a QB at #1 even if nobody is worthy of first overall? I'm not necesarily disagreeing with you, I am just not sure that there's a QB worthy of #1 and there are definitely other players in play there that woud be big impacts.

Stop letting accountants make football decisions and hire people that know the game and how to build a winning team.
Drop the "money ball" plan and keep elite players you already have instead of letting them go because they cost too much..

Good news is, I don't think we have any elite players/players that are productive that aren't close to rookies/under rookie contract, or extended. Correct me if I'm wrong, but do we have anyone worth extended coming up soon? I know JT is in a contract year coming up I think, but is he even playing?

What don't people get?
Hue Jackson is not in charge of the Browns roster.
(Sashi)Brown has final say over the 53-man roster, the draft and the players signed and not signed in free agency. The GM will report to Brown and will focus on finding good players. link
Yes, there have been opinion articles written attempting to figure out who in the Browns management is responsible for picking the talent for our roster.
The authors of these opinion pieces are "speculating" because it so hard to believe what they have been told by the Browns owner...that Sashi Brown is in charge of the picking the talent on our roster.
I read speculation that Cody Kessler was Hue's pick in the first draft yet Kessler is not tall, athletic with a strong arm..all traits that Hue has preferred in his QBs.
JMO, but I believe Hue stepped up with his "trust me" comment in an effort to ease some of the sports media criticism that materialized when Kessler was picked by our front office.
It is difficult to believe, but Hue Jackson isn't picking the talent, Sashi Brown is.

So we have a corporate lawyer making player personal decisions and who has the final say on the 53 man roster, that's just great. Gee I wonder why the Browns aren't winning?

Just win something that matters. Who can deliver that? Kizer can't get his head around it now. Maybe Kessler? Are we praying for Hogan's encore. Shop for a vet on bye week?

People are getting angry because there is no evidence we moving in the right direction.

Their plan is the right plan, it's the exicution of the plan that will make or break them (The draft) It has been 1 1/2 years so far which is way to early to pass judgement, yet everybody want's to pass judgement already. Our fans are many of our fans are asinine.

So Carson Wentz was “not the right fit” for the Browns. those words make me really wonder if hue should be the guy picking our franchise qb. and since he is probably a top 20 qb already, in his second year, I think depodesta should be out of the process as well. not sure who that leaves to make that very important call but hopefully there is someone. I wonder if there was a scout two years ago who was pleading for us to draft wentz. He might be the guy we want making the call.

So you're posting an article where the owner says Sashi isn't the talent evaluator, but then you say that's not what he said. And then you comment about people speculating, but speculate yourself on who you think is evaluating talent and say you don't understand what the confusion is about, but you yourself seem confused.
I'm confused.

Every team puts together a few wins during a rebuild. Your right most teams do. However we did a total rebuild, our front office didn't care if we went 0-16 last year if it set us up for a better future. They didn't care about wins this season as long as it set us up for a better chance in 2018, 2019, and 2020. People are getting upset because they want it and they want it now. They have no Patience. Do you want evidence???? Compare our roster now to the one we had before the 2015 season. Which one has the better chance to succeed? Look I am not saying we are on the right track, because I am not saying that. I am saying we have the right plan (for the first time since we came back in 1999.) This whole plan depends on us making the right draft picks (and NO that does not mean 100 percent of them will pan out, but many ignorant fans will cry when they don't) After we play 16 games NEXT year, then we can start debating on staying the course or making changes.

citizen we have not let one single”elite” player go. other than Swartz and Haden it is questionable if we let anyone else go who is better than who we replaced them with. even tho Britt stinks.

It's already been established Hue wanted Goff and didn't want Wentz. It's been posted in another thread. If we get a QB this next year and they turn into the Franchise guy, does it matter? Not being a jerk, honest question. We are focused on who we passed on and not who we drafted. We have a large number of draft picks form the last two years that are developing pretty nicely, and are contributing and showing flashes of a lot of potential. I am not focused on it....all's well that ends well. As I always told my players when I coached baseball, it's not about how it starts, it's about how it ends.
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn. GM Strong

BULLCRAP just because your impatient sorry ass says so does not make it the truth. Look in the mirror, you are part of the problem not part of the solution. And no your not getting a participation trophy kid. Hey calm down GM. I love you man! I just hate Hue! I see some things about Hue that I am not thrilled with, just like I see things with the front office that I am not thrilled with, BUT I am 110 percent behind giving both the front office and Hue until the end of the 2018 season before I start discussing other options. BTW we are cool bro, feel free to disagree with me any time, and please don't take it personal when I disagree with you.
I AM ALWAYS RIGHT... except when I am wrong.

I meant on the field (not the moves in the offseason).
I really like the WRs we pulled from other teams' P-squads in the early weeks. They look pretty good (better than our multi-millionaire FA WR).
In general, I've really liked (or at least understood) most of the moves the FO makes... until the team takes the field. I don't care about wins or points to ranks or anything like that... I was just hoping that they'd be watchable and within reach of being competitive. I just wanted them to look like they belong on a professional football field. I really don't think that that is too much to ask.
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.
