The numbers: The U.S. grew at a solid 3% annual pace in third quarter despite damage from two hurricanes, according to Commerce Department data. That’s above economist expectations of a 2.7% growth rate, according to a MarketWatch survey, and only slightly below the 3.1% growth rate in the second quarter.

The last time the economy had two consecutive quarters of above 3% growth was in 2014. The government said it couldn’t say exactly how much hurricanes Harvey and Irma sliced from growth in the July-September quarter. Because Puerto Rico is not a state, hurricane Maria does not factor in the government’s GDP calculations.

They reported the biggest thing causing this growth is President Trumps cutting of Regulations on business.

The Obama administration had added 15,000 pages of regulations which many in Congress refer to as Obama's 15,000 Kings James Bibles of regulations.

I think I caught a little bit of that too. Didn't they also say that a lot of the confidence and excitement in the market has been based on anticipation of not only de-regulation, but also on better tax plan? I thin they gave it until about the 2018 mid-terms as when they expect the market to slow down if meaningful tax reform hasn't happened by then.

Yes, this is correct.

Multinational corporations are anticipating being able to get away with more fraud, reduce their corporate tax rate, and deny medical benefits to employees (all to the detriment of the American workforce and greater population).

As I said, the economy under Trump will operate exactly like the economy under Obama - a house of cards that will be great if you have money, and bad if you don't.

Not at all.

This isn't the first time this has happened in my short time back, so let me ask kindly, pointing the finger at no one in particular:

My personal issues have no place in discussions about politics, economics, labor automation, etc. I'm asking earnestly that they please be left out of any unrelated discussions. Thank you.

None who meet at this interactive site should ever feel required to drop such a 'request post'... for any reason.

No matter who you are.
No matter what your story is.
No matter how much (or how little) (s)he has shared.

The fact that even one of us feels it necessary to ask this of us- face up-front... should inform us of the base level we've come to accept from ourselves.

Who are we these days?

Yup, for those who can play. The middle class will have their back as well, because they'll be paying for those who are playing with them numbers.

I wonder what the indictments will mean to Trump's tax agenda and the Markets... Things are happening fast today.

Maybe not directly. But just this week-end you referred to her as, "your Mexican wife" in a post.

You know you cast barbs at people and quite often and consistently. I'm no less guilty of it but at least I man up and admit it.

That's how HE refers to her, when it suits his agenda.

Watching the Republicans fumble another piece of legislation on the goal line is hysterical. But I guess that's what happens when the quarterback is on twitter during the plays.

I doubt it. There's been too many hands in the cookie jars, and all these tax cuts add more hands. I doubt we'll get tax legislation by the new year. The senate is trying to decide if it pisses off its constituents or its lobbyists. It's pretty amusing to watch.

You know the context of your remarks. So does everyone else who read it.

It's not the point that you do this. A lot of us do this. It's the fact you won't admit it that bothers me. Not that it really matters.

I'm going to try an economics experiment tomorrow night.

When the kids ring my doorbell, I think I'll hand out the majority of the candy to 1-10% of them, and see how well it trickles to the other kids-

wink

Or better yet, why not just go out on the corner and hand out candy to every kid that walks by, even if they didn't make the effort to dress up, or make the effort to walk up to your door and ring the bell?

You should keep a scale by the door and weigh every kids candy bag.. if one kid has more, pull some out and give it to the other kids.

And don't give any candy to kids with small hands.

They already handed out candy to the guy with small hands. He's making a mess with it.

Release of GOP tax bill to be delayed until Thursday

Photo: Evan Vucci / AP
The release of the Republican tax bill is being delayed until Thursday, according to sources with direct knowledge, though Chairman Kevin Brady says the committee is still pushing to finalize the bill by Wednesday.
The likely delay of the scheduled release by the House Ways and Means Committee reveals the difficulties the team has had in resolving how to raise enough money to pay for the massive corporate tax cuts. Political hot button issues — like the treatment of 401k savings — are still in flux. The delay shouldn't affect the timing for the mark-up, which is expected to happen Monday.
Update: After Brady told reporters there was "no announcement of a change in schedule" he put out a statement saying "we have decided to release the bill text on Thursday."
