I'll bring the thread back to QBs at least not the original thread on the QBs.
Just for the record Mayfield has been my QB of choice He won't go top 10 cause the NFL still have snobbery on height 6'1".
But the kid is very accurate and has a very strong arm but also has touch! He is very mobile and is a natural leader that the team would follow to the depths of hell. Hopefully the Texans keep on losing and we can get a sub 15 pick with that one or trade back from 1/2 and take Mayfield like #6-8
What ever McCarron is...Mayfield will be BETTER!

If they like Mayfield ... they best not trade down and play games ... if they trade down and someone ahead of us or someone jumps us to get him ...
Oh Good Lord would that be bad ....
Can’t wait to watch his film at the end of the year ..

The one issue is that Alex is getting up there in years. He will be 34 next year and at that age he could start declining, or he could have 3 good years left. It would be kind of risky since the Chiefs would want a lot for him. A couple of years ago it would almost be a no brainer.

Now with the Texans pick getting better for us looks like we might be sitting perfect to get Barclay and Mayfield in that first. We would be such a different team!

If Josh Adams of 33 trucking fame comes out ...
He’s going to be a better pro than Barclay ...
Adams is by far the best player in the country no one has heard of ...

Johnny was a drunk with 20 plays in his college career.
Big difference from the two also Mayfield is 2 inches taller. Talent wise they are similar...NFL material wise absolutely no comparison.
Compare him to Aaron Rodgers if you wish to compare.

yall missed the boat with Watson. i will not let it happen again. I'm leaning towards Jackson of the QBs, but I'm not completely sold on the intangibles yet. Watson had those in spades. I don't know that Jackson doesn't have them. I just haven't really gotten a feel yet. Haven't gotten too serious into the Draft yet, but the scenario I'm kicking around is: 1a. Jackson 1b. Minkah Fitzpatrick, FS, Bama 2a.Courtland Sutton, WR, SMU 2b. Best CB available 2c. Best RB/OL/LB Of course, after Jackson the other 2 could very well be gone. Would be great, if unlikely, if something clicks for Kizer and we didn't have to worry about QB.

we have 2-3 other teams in need of a QB next year with us:
Jets, Broncos, Cardinals.
then there's another 3-5 teams who *might* be looking to move on and upgrade:
Dolphins, Ravens, Jaguars, *Colts* (dunno the situation with luck and how that plays out).
i don't want to go winless, but with the reports that shanny might not even play JG this year (which there's no reason to play him on such a trash team), then they have a good chance of getting the #1 pick over us, then trading back with one of those teams since they have their QB of the future *in theory*.
That could very will be Sam Darnold.
but so far just watching games, and watching Lamar last year, we need somebody dynamic like that. I've watched some games with Darnold and i just don't feel like he's dynamic like Jackson or Watson. Those two have it.

Jackson is frail like Watson. The #1 quality you look for in a football player is DURABILITY.
If a player is not built to withstand the punishment delivered at the NFL level, they can't be counted on to help your team win.
Cory Coleman...great talent, but he lacks durability, being 5-11/194.
Hue Jackson prefers WRs who are big, athletic and fast. While the front office delivered (in 4th/5th rds)on the type of WRs HJ preferred...for some reason, they did not follow those preferences picking a wr in the first round, 2016. Bit of a head scratcher, imo.
Bigger, stronger, faster...

Is Andrew Luck durable? Aaron Rodgers? David Johnson?
Being big doesn't necessarily make you durable. Jackson has been hit and keeps getting up.

Tom Brady had missed a whole season, Peyton manning dealt with injuries and missed a season, etc.

I don't really have an opinion on the QB yet. I'll wait till the season is over and watch everything back to back.
Watson didn't play enough to show anything this season. I saw fuller give him a wide open target to throw to though. I still see his WRs having to come back to the ball a little too much but it's also just a part of their system to be fair.
I will say this though, his footwork has improved a lot and it's showing up big time on some of those bombs he is good at throwing. If he keeps on improving though and doesn't regress he will be one we regret passing on. NFL corners and safeties are not going to let him keep those button hook passes forever though before they start jumping the ball to intercept him.
I love to see a QB grow though so I hope they will let him run less and pass more so his career doesn't have an early demise like rg3 did. Hue wanted him but didn't get to have him ... I really dislike they refuse to give him a real QB.
You can't fix stupid but you can destroy ignorance. When you destroy ignorance you remove the justifications for evil. If you want to destroy evil then educate our people. Hate is a tool of the stupid to deal with what they can't understand.

No problem Pastor...no need to debate about it although I could. I do trust my opinion on him...I watch him a lot. Its not the stats. For example he'll have a pass rush where he is force to throw off his back foot and it will be ON the money to the sidelines with Zip and covering around 40 yards! This is where I say...wow and think Aaron is the only other QB I know that can do that. Ergo my comparison....also his accuracy while throwing on the run reminds me of Rodgers.
You are the one who compared him to Johnny which I'm sorry there is no comparison. btw the kid Mayfield is like 220 lbs.

You just pick the QB that reminds you of Vick the most every year.

I've been critical of LJ - just not so much on this board. However, there is some interesting noise that he has made an impressive leap at being a viable QB since last year.
