Not sure about that.....he has no one playing today.

No JT, Peppers, Garrett, McCourty, etc. I think it's going to be ugly today. Absolutely ugly.

Hue said we had talent all over the field. Time to bring some of it forward.

All my posts aren’t good? .. *LOL* ...

GREAT QUESTION(S) ... really great questions ...

I’ll start with JJ ...

He certainly wasn’t a football guy when he bought the team IMO .... he thought he’d learned enough from JJ to be a football guy .... so he fired him so his ego could take over .... HUGE MISTAKE on his part ... he won with Switz WITH JIMMY’S TALENT but just like Policy in Frisco ... THE TALENT CUBBARD WENT BARE ...

I highly doubt hes a football guy now ... but i have no clue if he’s put the time in to become one ... just because your a football guy doesn’t mean your good at it ... we’ve certainly experienced enough FOOTBALL GUY FAILURES ... *L* .. its not really funny but its to early to start crying ... thumbsup

He’s in the HOF because hes been a succesful owner (jimmy Johnson) and put a crap ton of money into the owners pockets .. hes the one that negotiated the huge tv deals ... there’s a lot more on that side ... good and bad but thats not for this discussion .. and this is a good discussion ..

I CAN’T WAIT TO READ OTHERS OPINIONS ON THIS .. and Jester .. THANKS for asking ... cause its been a long time since i’ve Looked forward to reading something on here .. its been a rather rough sled in here lately .. *L* ...

To become a football guy u have to put the time in ... if i had the cash and bought the browns today ... i’d Want to become a football guy .. here’s how i’d Do it ...

SPEND AS MUCH TIME WITH THE FOOTBALL PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE ... its not rocket science ... like anything else in life ... u get good at it by spending time doing it and learning it ... your not going to become a football guy working out deals with Pepsi ..

I’LL start with Hue for the discussion but this is in no particular order ... I’d be there when he got in and wouldn’t leave til after he did ... i’d Shadow him and pick his brain ... i’d Be a 2 year old ... WHY .. WHY .. WHY ... then to mix it up .. HOW COME ... *L* .. ... i would follow the same proccess with every group below ...

I would get to the scouts ... we’d spend time going over film .. LOTS AND LOTS OF IT ... i’d Go on the road with them for an entire year ...

Then on to the GM ... assistant coaches ...

I’d attend every pro day ... any eval possible ...

I think u get my drift ...

THANKS AGAIN JESTER ... can’t wait to see what others have to say ...

A large part of the problem Browns fans have is finding anyone willing to accept responsibility for any of personnel choices that have led to the 1-22 record.

The Browns draft is a mystery process with a shift toward analytics appearing to play a major role. From Depodesta to Andrew Berry to the Browns scouting staff..a background in analytics is required just to be a member of the Browns draft team. The Browns "old school" scouts were fired before Sashi's first draft.

One observation I had concerning this year's draft...Hue Jackson was not a member of the Browns War Room. I'm not sure how much responsibility Hue could have had for any of our picks in the 2017 draft. It was said that IF the Browns were not able to move up and get Trubisky after taking Myles Garrett with their #1 pick, Hue did like QB, Patrick Mahomes.

In an effort to draft a QB the Browns HC showed interest in..the Browns analytical front office DID NOTHING as the KC Chiefs moved up to #10, ahead of the Browns, who remained at #12. At that point, the front office preferred to trade the #12 pick instead of drafting Watson.

In round 2, the Browns War Room employed the same draft strategy they used the day before, when Mahomes was available...they did nothing and this time the next QB on the front office's draft board was still on the board and Kizer was drafted as Hue's choice. Clearly, Mahomes appeared to be Hue's preference over Kizer and I doubt there were many (if any) of the 32 draft boards that ranked Kizer ahead of Mahomes.

So far, all the Browns front office has done to fill our QB needs is to draft 2 developmental QBs in 2 years. The number one concern with Kizer was his lack of experience, with some believing he needed to sit a year. Problem for the Browns was, the front office cut their experienced veteran who was excellent at tutoring young QBs.

The Osweiler thing was next, with he too being cut and leaving Hue with a pair of 1yr QBs and a rookie. In training camp and the preseason it was the inexperienced rookie who won the starting job. Now, everyone is ready to blame Hue Jackson because he has not developed a QB out of the talent our analytics front office provided to him.

No doubt, Hue is setup to be the "fall guy" for the team's lack of success, but those who are most responsible for providing the QB talent will never step forward lay claim to their role in the team's record.

...that is how the Haslam Browns roll!

I don't want change. I just wish he'd get better. And I rest my case on Hue. He simply has trouble managing a game. He doesn't understand game situations. Maybe instead of an OC, he should hire a guy who should tell him when to use his timeouts and when to go for two, when to kick off and when to receive.

I truly believe the FO should get a pass.A buss pass out of town...lol

Seriously I'm not sure what the Browns should do.We go through front offices and coaches faster than a buttered bullet goes through the air and it never seems to work.

I'm not sure what can save us and turn this around.I just hope it happens in my lifetime

I agree. We are 1-23 since Hue became coach.

I am not saying it is all on Hue, but dang, I could coach the team and have as good a record. Maybe better.

I blame Hue for Flattop at QB. I blame the FO for Gonzalez at kicker. Parkey was way better than him.

Hey Diam, looks like it is just the two of us in this conversation *L*

I like what you said. Let me throw this back at you. You said:

To become a football guy u have to put the time in ... if i had the cash and bought the browns today ... i’d Want to become a football guy .. here’s how i’d Do it ...

SPEND AS MUCH TIME WITH THE FOOTBALL PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE ... its not rocket science ... like anything else in life ... u get good at it by spending time doing it and learning it ... your not going to become a football guy working out deals with Pepsi ..

How do we know that Sashi isn't doing this? Or hasn't been doing this? I think it was when Pettine was the HC, not sure, but it came out that Sashi was watching film with the coaches. This board had a field day making fun of him. But what if he has been doing what you said for the past 3-4 years?

I don't know how much he has been doing this but there are clear indications that he has been doing it at least some.

The Browns showed some real progress out there today in virtually every facet of the game. Don’t get hung up on simply scoring more points than the other team.

The Browns kicked the Vikings butts in several statistical categories.

The master plan to tear down the team is coming along perfectly. I hope the Haslams don’t try to alter the course.

Hue Jackson is destined to become one of the greatest NFL coaches in history. He only needs several more seasons to carry-out his vision. Under Hue, the Browns could easily go 6-10 in 8 or 9 more years.

To be good, you must tear down the team to it’s bare bones. And then really start getting rid of the deadwood.

Sometimes you need to tear a team down to it's bare bones 3 or 4 times to get it right.

The current Browns regime has already started the rebuilding process.

For instance, the Browns FO has brilliantly signed Charley Hughlett long-term. He has the potential to become one of the top ten long snappers in the American Conference. Definitely in the top 25 of the NFL.

You need to start with strength up the middle with special teams.

It’s a fact that every great team in the NFL was winless for many years before becoming a NFL team.

The Browns dominated the Vikings across the board in virtually every punting stat:

Punting yards: 279-221 Browns
Punts inside the 20: 3-2 Browns
Longest punt: 54-44 Browns

The Browns defense also dominated the Vikings:

Total defensive tackles Browns: 64
Total defensive tackles Vikings: 47

The Browns' D put some hurtin' on the Viking offense.

And it just goes on and on.

I don’t really have much to say to the folks that are expecting something to change 1/2 through the year as the INJURIES MOUNT ... so its ok they don’t wanna talk .. *L* ..

Frustration and the MICROWAVE SOCIETY we live in today produce BS like were seeing on here now ...

Hue has called VERY GOOD GAMES the last two weeks ... Kizer’s shown improvement ... theres a bucnh more ... there gonna hang hue and/or the FO ... hopefully the thief has grown up and don’t let his temper of the bafoon/impatient fans to rule the day ...

Nevermind ... U and I can talk about this later .. we have two more weeks before the folks that can’t see the forest through the tree crowd gets to get upset again ...

Fact is .. we have no clue if Sashi’s been doing what I believe it takes to become a football guy ... we have no idea ... all we can do is hope if he is ... he doesn’t think he knows more than he does ..

And honestly ... we have NO CLUE who wanted who .. NONE ... or who made the FINAL DECISIONS ...

All we heard before this started was what a great team player Sashi was ....

Does he rule with an iron fist ...

Does he only rule with an iron fist when theres disagreements ...

Has he differed to Berry or the football dude we picked up last off season or Hue or other coaches sometimes ...

Truth is ... we really have no clue how it works ..

These guys read a few articles and think they know it all .. sometimes its complete specualation what they say ... the two other famous times ...

Hue said “trust me” ... some say that means he wanted CK ... some say he was protecting the FO ... WE HAVE NO CLUE why he said that ...

Depo said “ we don’t believe he wil be a top 20 qb” ... whose “we” .. there so many options .. just to keep it simple .. was that depo and sashi .... depo and hue .... was it sashi and hue ..

WHOSE WE??? ...

All i now is WE have no clue .. yet that don’t stop Noah’s customers from talking in absolutes ...

Hopefully Vers and tabb and a few others will come chat with us ... i’d Like to know others opinions but Noah’s customers are too busy running around pointing fingers ...

I do think that the dumb ass fans think w/their hearts instead of the brains and overrated the roster and when reality set in, they needed to assign blame [just as I predicted they would a long time ago.]

I think Hue is getting the blame because so many of those people were "all in" w/the plan. Thus, Hue is the fall guy for the team not meeting their unrealistic expectations.

I think that the organization should stay strong and united in the onslaught of negativity from the media and fan base. I think they should be more like the Steelers and say stuff like, "we are not allowing outsiders to influence the commitment to our plan."

I also think [and know it won't occur] that the fan base back off and quit trying to get either the HC or any FO guys fired.

Stay the course!

I completely disagree with this point of view! If their plan was to become an abomination then congratulations, they succeeded.

In preseason camp, Hue liked the additional talent and said things were going according to the plan.

At least we won the preseason.

Still don't agree.
He's a positive coach, most coaches are like that. They don't want to throw their players under the bus (except for that good old southern boy botch) and will try to exude a confident demeanour.

Big changes maybe coming. With the Browns heading into their bye the rumor is someone in the front office or Hue, could be fired this week.

I didn't know where else to put this, but the front office deserves credit, so I'll put it here.

I could not have been more proud of how Spencer Drango played out there against the Vikings. To fill Joe Thomas' shoes, against one of the NFL's top pass rushing units, and allow nothing? What an incredible performance from that kid. I don't think he gave up a sack, and he allowed very little pressure.

I'll be the first to admit I was wrong; I thought he was going to get annihilated, but he more than held his own. He's certainly not Joe Thomas, but nobody is. Fantastic game from Drango.

Hue Jackson is a complete disaster in every department of the building. Watching rookie quarterback DeShone Kizer suffer again Sunday, falling apart in the second half, while other young quarterbacks soar, will doom every football person in that building. Because owners don't fire themselves. It's over for coaches and personnel. This ended up another lopsided loss, getting trounced in the second half by the Vikings in London. The Browns have one win since Jackson took over before the 2016 season and they have four wins since December 2014 (GM Sashi Brown, in differing roles, has been there for every single one of those losses). Cleveland is 4-41 in its last 45 games, an unfathomable degree of failure in a league of parity. They could easily go 1-15 again. It's over. Good luck somewhere else Hue!

At around the end of the 3rd quarter they put up a quick graphic that said at that point in the game Drango was matched up against that DE (I don't know his name) 16 times ... and given up 0 pressures!

Everson Griffen disrespects new Browns LT Spencer Drango

The new Browns left tackle isn’t getting any respect from the standout defensive end he’ll be tasked with blocking in London in Week 8.

https://www.dawgsbynature.com/2017/10/27...-spencer-drango

Following Friday’s practice, Vikings star defensive end Everson Griffen disrespected the young offensive lineman in an interview in the days leading up to his team’s London matchup with the Browns.

“He’s a guy who should be playing guard,” Griffen said, per Star Tribune’s Mark Craig. “He’s a little slower, so I’m going to use my gift, which is my get-off and my speed and go out and help my team win.”

Griffen said he has repeatedly studied Drango’s brief appearance last week against Tennessee to try to establish his tendencies, and that he’s upset he won’t be facing Thomas this week...

Awesome. I was hoping my eyes hadn't been playing tricks on me, but it's good to see the confirmation. I've been impressed with the offensive line over the last few weeks. Kizer's wounds have been self inflicted, and the receivers haven't helped, but this OL has been pretty fantastic. It's great to see that, even though Joe can't be replaced, Drango can do him proud.

To put this back on topic, that's one reason I'm a big fan of the front office and Hue Jackson both getting another year to see this thing unfold. Drango struggled when thrust in to the line-up as a rookie, but in year two he's holding off Everson Griffen when his number is called.

A lot of our second year players are beginning to find their feet. I would say Emmanuel Ogbah, Shon Coleman, Joe Schobert, Derrick Kindred and BBC have all kicked it up a notch. None of them have been perfect, but for second year players, I'm excited by the steps they've taken.

It would be exciting for Drango to add his name to the list. I like Corey Coleman, we miss him a lot, but he's been too banged up to make a real assessment. Seth Devalve has taken a step forward, but not a huge one.

I think it's a good look for the direction of the team. They've not put it together, and Hue is desperately trying to get them there, but we're steadily adding talented young players to the roster.

Yes, the O-Line has been greatly improved. Drango had a great day, but I think we shouldn't overlook Bitonio's contribution to that. I saw a lot of communication and trust between those two guys. It was good to see Bitonio take that kind of leadership role when it really hasn't been something asked all that much of him.

WR's aside, I think last year's crop of players overall have progressed I think a bit more than I would have anticipated to be honest.

I don't know if I made one of these posts since you've joined, but in the midst of all the "we should have got this guy, kept this guy, etc etc" arguments, there really is a plan in place and I think it's evident. I'm not saying people should agree with or like the plan, but for anyone to say there is no plan I think is disingenuous at best.

The FO comes in and tears it down to the studs. Risky, and costly in terms of experience and even talent, but what they wanted as a foundation for this team is a core group of players who are dedicated to the Team. That condition was necessary in order to establish a new culture. Having some expectation that things were going to get worse before they got better, you absolutely have to have guys wholly dedicated to what you are doing in order to make it through those times.

Just look at this FO's first Draft: the theme common across everyone we selected was: a) physically gifted b) football junkies and c) were productive at their positions in college.

Now what's interesting is these claims that the FO is clueless, that they are screwing Hue over with the players they give him... well, aren't these the very same players that through 1 and half seasons of losing games week after week, have yet to give up on their coach?

Yes, we need upgrades and more top tier talent. Can't and won't deny that. So Now accompany me and the Ghost of Cleveland Future to next years Draft... we have less than a handful of positions that we need major help at: QB, WR, CB, FS. And if we get the right guys, 3 of those 4 positions require less development before they can make significant contributions.

Think about what that means... by Week 1 of 2018 we could finally have a complete team in place. If we still somehow don't have the QB, well then we have a team already built for whomever we do find.

Yes, we'll still be young(ish). But we'll also be on the upswing.

Absolutely, this set up needs 3 years. I'm not opposed to bringing in an OC and honestly at this point I wouldn't be opposed to possibly a new ST if it came down to it.

Final thought, I don't think this FO is simply trying to put together a winning team. I think they are trying to put together a sustainable program that once we do get to the point of being that playoff caliber team, that we will be a perennial playoff contender.

Your more full of crap than 10,000 used, dirty, baby diapers notallthere

One observation I had concerning this year's draft...Hue Jackson was not a member of the Browns War Room. I'm not sure how much responsibility Hue could have had for any of our picks in the 2017 draft. It was said that IF the Browns were not able to move up and get Trubisky after taking Myles Garrett with their #1 pick, Hue did like QB, Patrick Mahomes.

Better make that 20,000 used, dirty, baby diapers.

Want some more proof

7:51 PM: Man, time is flying, at least for me! Hue Jackson was just on the NFL Network being interviewed by Mike Silver. He headed back to the war room right afterward, but did tell Silver that while they do need a QB, “they’re going to let the QB come to them.”

The rest of your made up total bull crap is not even worth wasting more of my time responding too. Your so full of lies your making Coach B look honest.

j/c What I find frustrating is that prior to the season, just about everyone on this forum predicted that we'd win a few games, and that we were in better shape than the Jets, Colts, Bears, and Texans....but they've all managed to win at least 2 games by this point. Granted, some of those wins were against the Browns. Why do we have to get to a point of unprecedented suckitude while these other teams can at least get a taste of victory every once in a while? Some are saying that they knew we'd be in this boat, but I didn't see but 1 or 2 0fers in the prediction thread. Cripe, the Jets were thought to have the worst roster of all time.

I feel the same way. I don't think our roster is that far behind some of those other teams.

I suppose it mostly boils down to the QB play. The D has played well, at least in the first half. I think they get lackluster when it is clear the O isn't going to score many more points.

I guess we decided we were going to go with Kiser, sink or swim.

Too bad that isn't working out. Kiz did have a couple of nice loner throws..I wouldn't call those a flash moment for me, but at least it was something.

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.
