I'm not really concerned with Arsenio. The guy is quite right - Arsenio is most likely going to end up in jail or dead.

This has very little to do with Arsenio and everything to do with the elected official.

And frankly I don't see this as politically motivated...As in, he did this in order to get re-elected....In fact it may cost him the next one.

I don't think he did this in order to get re-elected either, but you never know - he is a politician.

I was actually visiting some black friends in that ward today and we were talking about "the letter." They applauded him for sending the letter - they don't want thugs and drugs in their backyards. They actually spoke very highly of Polensek and the things he has been trying to do over the years in the neighborhood.

Good for them, goes to show you, only thugs are complaining about the letter.

To be honest, I might have actually said what the hell had he not CC'ed the Plain Dealer.

I thought his wording, tone, etc. was juvenile, and also not his place to judge...but a guy fed up with things? Yeah, I can understand blowing that steam the wrong way...but to make it a publicity stunt?

That's the only place I really have a problem with it too Phil.

You want to send "this kid" that letter? Fine. While I think it could have been worded in a more constructive manner by which the kid may have actually given it some consideration rather than just further incite the kid.

But him "writing the letter" is not something I have a problem with at all. In fact,I agree that he needed a shot of reality which this letter is. So...................no problem.

The problem? USING it to garner publicity and holding the kid up to public ridicule for personal gain. Once he forwarded the letter to others, including the press, where the kid was probably only one of millions who've read it and heard about it. (just saw it on MSNBC and the counselman being interviewd). So yes, millions have heard it.

This letter wasn't simply "a letter to a kid".

That's a pretty "self-seving way" to "send a kid a letter". That's the aspect I have a problem with. It wasn't "just a letter to a kid trying to send him your message". It was used a publicity stunt and an attention getter to further this politicions goals.

That'a two different things in my book.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Maybe it was a way to bring attention to the problems in his community, and he's making an example of "this kid" since "this kid" has been a thorn in this guys side for a couple years.

With one of those goals being to rid his ward of crime. All the more attention the better.

Bravo.
