Maybe we should get back to the abuse angle instead of the political angle?

His show was in its sixth season (where it costs way more) and was pulling a 1.7 in 18-49 (the most important demographic).
Those aren't awful numbers, but a cancellation isn't out of place, especially considering you can pull those same numbers with an old "Modern Family" rerun or a cheap, script-less reality talent show.
You seem to believe his show was cancelled because he's conservative, which would be more plausible if it was winning shares at a rate that made cancellation absurd.
But it's completely normal for a show at that stage, with those numbers, to go dark.
And now you've shrunk the argument from "pushed out of Hollywood" to "well, I'm not talking about movies".

You know damn good and well that most conservative people in your line of work (and every other line in the entertainment industry) have to keep their mouths shut about their views until they have enough star power that they don't get pushed out. I do not know this. I work and have worked with many vocal conservative people. They are all over the industry, in a myriad of roles. I do know many people who blame their failures on their politics, and sure, if you say something patently stupid like "I don't think gays should get married", you won't win many friends in the business. I can only think of two other people, (Kelsey Grammar and Patricia Heaton) that have enough juice to be able to speak about their views without losing their jobs. Top of my head - Donald Trump, Adam Sandler, Bruce Willis, Stallone, Dennis Miller, Jim Downey, Norm MacDonald, Tom Selleck, Tony Danza, Pat Sajak, Chuck Norris, Dean Cain, Ben Stein, Vince Vaughn, Dennis Franz, James Woods, James Caan, Jon Voight, Jackie Mason, Robert Duvall, Jeff Foxworthy, Tim Allen, Kurt Russell, Joe Pesci, Paul Sorvino, Jim Belushi, Mel Gibson, Adam Corolla, Gary Sinise, Fred Thompson, Andy Garcia, Larry the Cable Guy, Adam Baldwin, Heather Locklear I'm bored, but I can keep going. To some I would say, now that you mention it and others I would say, really, never knew, and one I would say, in it for the money. That being Dennis Miller. Never really struck me as someone that believed what he was saying when he had that talk show. But to all I would say, lotta star power there. And still not a big enough list for me to go, oh you're right. It's safe out there for conservatives. and didn't James Woods just retire because he wasn't getting roles for being an outspoken conservative? Just looked this up, James Woods tweets that he's blacklisted in August, his Real Estate Agent lists a house he's selling sometime later and somehow it gets out he's retiring and Woods lets it ride to see what the reaction would be. So no, he didn't retire. But he did say he was black listed.

Miller always had a conservative streak to him, even back in the HBO days when he was more traditionally liberal-leaning. A lot of old castmates at SNL have said the same about him.
But I never met the guy, so I can't say if it was earnest or a career pivot.
HBO still rotates seasons of his old "Live" show, sometimes it's interesting to put one on. A few weeks ago I put one on where he did a throwaway joke about Trump getting married but called her "Melanie". It was kind of surreal.
Also, I forgot Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The thing is that dressing provocatively is usually combined with at least one other risky behavior.. like getting too drunk, being isolated, or going somewhere with strangers.. then you really have increased your risk of something bad happening. All of that is true, but that is not a defense for guys who rape women. Dressing provocatively, getting drunk, and hanging out w/new people are not crimes. It's not very smart, but again, it is not a crime. The crime is rape and that is performed by the man who is taking advantage of the victim. Making poor life choices should not be punishable by rape. No means no. That's it. There is no excuse, justification, or rationalization for rape!!! Every time I (or anybody else) posts something like I did, somebody jumps up to say it's still not an excuse or a justification... I know that, but thanks for pointing it out, again. I'll just tell my daughter to wear whatever she wants, get as drunk as she wants, go where ever she wants with whomever she wants, flirt as much as she wants, dance as seductively as she wants.. and if some guy can't handle it and she gets raped, it's ok, it's still the guys fault. (I mean, it is still his fault, but that's not a big consolation at that point)

Okay, here is an article about the show and its ratings. TV RATINGS 'Last Man Standing' canceled despite high ratings By Sasha Savitsky Published May 12, 2017 Fox News ABC announced it has canceled Allen's show after six seasons. "This was a scheduling decision," wrote Jori Arancio, senior vice president of ABC Entertainment and ABC Studios, in an email sent to Fox News on Friday. According to Deadline, ABC and its production partner for the show 20th Century Fox TV typically negotiate licensing fees prior to each season, however the network simply decided to pull the plug. A rep for 20th Century Fox TV told us cancellation decisions are made by ABC. The cancellation came as a shock for many fans considering the show's high ratings. Deadline reports the sitcom was the network's second-highest comedy this season and averaged 8.1 million viewers, just behind "Modern Family," which averaged 8.7 million viewers this season and was recently renewed for two more seasons. It was also ABC's third highest watched scripted series behind "Grey’s Anatomy" and "Modern Family." So why was the show killed? Allen, a conservative himself who has voiced his support for President Donald Trump, plays Mike Baxter who is also politically conservative on the show. "Last Man Standing" has been praised for being one of the few shows that appeal to a conservative viewership, something the network was conciously trying to do. ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey said in December during a London media summit that broadcast TV was not paying enough attention to the Donald Trump voters. "With our dramas, we have a lot of shows that feature very well-to-do, well-educated people, who are driving very nice cars and living in extremely nice places," Dungey said. "... But in recent history we haven’t paid enough attention to some of the true realities of what life is like for everyday Americans in our dramas." Allen has not yet responded to the cancellation. He spoke to Jimmy Kimmel in March about being his right-leaning politics being an issue in Hollywood. "You gotta be real careful around here," Allen noted. "You get beat up if you don't believe what everybody else believes. This is like '30s Germany." http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2017/05/12/last-man-standing-canceled-despite-high-ratings.html

Yes, it's absolutely the guy's fault. Especially if she's further intoxicating herself in his presence and still saying no. Alcohol is not a password. Inebriated people cannot give consent. It would be his fault entirely. However, if you wanted to point out all of the risky behavior and the consequences that they would incur, then be my guest. However, it's still completely the dude's fault.

(I mean, it is still his fault, but that's not a big consolation at that point) That wasn't my point, DC. But, if you wanna take it personal.........go ahead. My point is that the BIGGEST problem is that we have males who think that they can rape women if they are dressed provacatively and consume alcohol. That's BS! I have a daughter and have advised her pretty much like you are describing. I get all of that............but, there is no rationalization for rape!!!

Yes. And we should encourage them to expose their rapist. It's not their fault, let the world knows who rapes them. Even if it isn't legally proved in court. We should also be teaching our boys that no means no. That if she's drunk, don't have sex with her. The thought of rape is so adherent that it's crazy to think that rapists are not punished or ostracized enough.

DC, even though you kinda go out of your way to criticize some of my posts in other forums, I have always admired your takes in this forum.
However, I don't get where you are coming from on this one. Perhaps, I am misunderstanding your intent?
I get that we should teach our children and especially our daughters to protect themselves, but damn DC, I don't see how we can blame them for just being people who are influenced by societies influences.
In my opinion, the fault doesn't lie w/the young ladies who dress provocatively or drink too much. Instead, it lies w/men who think they can take advantage of these girls/women. When a woman says no.............she means no! It's time to stop.
And a man's drunk mind that believes because she has a short skirt on and partied w/you means she wants you to do whatever you want w/her is delusional.
There are times when a woman wants to have sex w/a man. That is obvious. However...........when she says "no," she means "NO!!!" and how she dresses and how much she drank does not matter.

Let me see if I can help you understand where I'm coming from.. I get that we should teach our children and especially our daughters to protect themselves, but damn DC, I don't see how we can blame them for just being people who are influenced by societies influences. I...AM...NOT...BLAMING...THE...GIRL...FOR...BEING...RAPED!!! In my opinion, the fault doesn't lie w/the young ladies who dress provocatively or drink too much. Instead, it lies w/men who think they can take advantage of these girls/women. When a woman says no.............she means no! It's time to stop. I agree... my whole point is.. all of this "it's all the guys fault", while true, isn't a great consolation for a girl who was raped when some precaution could have prevented it... Let me put it this way, if a college kid is out at a club in a bad neighborhood and runs to the ATM, gets out a couple hundred bucks and is making it very visible and waving it around.. and gets robbed.. is it their fault? No, it's not.. but it was still a damn stupid thing to do. And a man's drunk mind that believes because she has a short skirt on and partied w/you means she wants you to do whatever you want w/her is delusional. He's not delusional, he's drunk.. maybe too drunk to make a rational decision... it's still on him for getting that drunk. But let me ask you a question.. why is it that if a guy gets so drunk he can't make a rational decision... and a girl gets so drunk she can't make a rational decision... and they have sex, she's a rape victim and he's a criminal? To me, that does not sound like the law is being applied equally... There are times when a woman wants to have sex w/a man. That is obvious. Thank God for that.

I don't know, man. If I ever watch programs like the Emmys(ies?), Oscars, etc with all the mainliners from Hollywood, it's not exactly a Republican convention.

The idea that you have to hide being a conservative or risk being blacklisted is simply not true.
Not to mention, this notion erases entire segments of the industry - the crew, producers, bookers, etc.
I'm not claiming it's an industry basking in conservatism, but these depictions are hyperbole at best.

Someone is floating down a river in Egypt this morning. 1) Explain to me your experience in the industry 2) What if I told you what the world of painting is like, and what they thought, and when you shared your experiences, I told you that you're in denial? Go hang out at a craft services table during a five and listen to the grips, cameramen, carpenters, painters, etc. talk and tell me it's void of conservative opinion. Sit in on a producers lunch at Nobu and tell me they're not espousing traditional conservative fiscal views. And I've a already listed quite a few working actors who holding conservative views. I'm not saying it's not a predominately left-leaning industry, but the notion that you'll be run out on a rail for identifying as conservative is simply not true.

Also worth noting-
Breitbart is doing early damage control on a Times piece with 30 sources claiming Alabama Senate candidate Ray Moore is a pedophile (another open secret). He certainly isn't the first. No industry or ideology is more pious or worse than another- rape, assault and harassment occur everywhere.

But I think you already said that wouldn’t happen.

One of the funniest people I've ever met (his show is more avant grade, though).
I've heard stories like these starting around 2003 or so. Didn't take long to believe them.
