Woman Accuses Senator Al Franken Of Molesting Her During USO Tour

News anchor Leeann Tweeden accused Minnesota Sen. Al Franken Thursday of sexually harassing her multiple times during a USO entertainment tour in the Middle East in 2006.

Tweeden alleges that Franken, a writer for Saturday Night Live before he became a senator, wrote a script that featured him kissing her, and harassed her during rehearsals, Tweeden writes for KABC.

When Tweeden returned from the tour, she noticed a photo from the tour where Franken has his hands on her breasts and is smiling into the camera.

“You knew exactly what you were doing. You forcibly kissed me without my consent, grabbed my breasts while I was sleeping and had someone take a photo of you doing it, knowing I would see it later, and be ashamed,” Tweeden wrote.

“I’m still angry at what Al Franken did to me,” she added.

Tweeden is a model, announcer and tv personality, and is the news anchor for “McIntyre in the Morning” on Los Angeles radio station KABC. As a model, she appeared in Playboy, Maxim and FHM.

Franken volunteered to go on many USO tours to entertain troops during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and said the tour was a moving experience.

The USO tour also featured country music acts and cheerleaders of the Dallas Cowboys, and Tweeden said she only expected to emcee the event, “but Franken said he had written a part for me that he thought would be funny, and I agreed to play along,” Tweeden said.

The skit featured Franken kissing Tweeden, which the model says she was not happy about but thought she could play off in the act.

Franken insisted that they rehearse the kiss, according to Tweeden, and when she agreed, he grabbed her and “mashed his lips against mine and aggressively stuck his tongue in my mouth.”

“I immediately pushed him away with both of my hands against his chest and told him if he ever did that to me again I wouldn’t be so nice about it the next time,” Tweeden wrote.

After the tour ended, Tweeden was sent a CD of photographs from the tour, and saw the picture of Franken with his hands on her chest while she was sleeping.

“I felt violated all over again. Embarrassed. Belittled. Humiliated. How dare anyone grab my breasts like this and think it’s funny?” Tweeden wrote.

Tweeden said she told her husband what happened, and wanted to share her story publicly but feared for her career.

“I wanted to shout my story to the world with a megaphone to anyone who would listen, but even as angry as I was, I was worried about the potential backlash and damage going public might have on my career as a broadcaster,” Tweeden said.

Hmmm... Al Franken immediately apologizes for his actions with an adult woman. Says he doesn't remember the kiss that way and the pic was meant to be funny but he shouldn't have done it. Sends sincere apology to accuser.

Now we can watch the GOP try to compare this to Roy Moore's numerous peophilic assaults. SMH at Al Franken.

What he did was wrong. Not sure it's kick him out wrong, but definately black eye wrong. Unlike Moore, this was a grown ass woman. That doesn't make it right, but it does make it NOT in the same class.

If we start kicking out everybody that was ever sexually inappropriate at any time in their life, we'll be firing a lot of them.

As was said about Moore - he shouldn't even run - and I agree.

Now Franken - if things were equal-should resign immediately.

Things aren't equal, and please don't anyone assume I'm saying that. Moore - some underaged girls. I get it, get rid of him.

But, sexual assault is sexual assault. yes, it's worse when minors are involved - I agree.

But, it's not okay, ever.

The fact that Franken immediately apologized is telling....the fact that he says he doesn't remember it that way is...........an excuse. (especially if there's a picture of him fondling her when she was sleeping - I haven't seen it, but that's what I've heard)

I'm all for Moore not being elected/kicked out.

I'm also feeling the same way about Franken, and others, right now, Including Trump.

This crap has to stop.

And, while I don't have a link, I read a headline this morning - don't have a link right now - that last year Congress paid out $15 million in sexual harassment/abuse claims.

I'm not doing anything. I'm not defending Franken's actions. I'm just not going to let them be compared to Moore's peodphilia.

Franken most certainly should not have done this and I have no issue if he is pressured into resigning or investigated. I'm really not sure if this will be taken that far at this point.

According to the Alabama GOP standards it takes more than 5 victims.

If that is the picture in question, it seems the INTENT to me was not to sexually assault her, but more of a horrible attempt of a bad joke. It doesn't look like he was trying to do anything sexual to her in that photo. Not saying its ok, cause its not. But should sexual assault have to deal with something of sexual nature or sexual intentions? Idk anymore, seems like we are going down a slippery slope.

She is claiming that he forcefully put his tongue down her throat after she repeatedly expressed disinterest.

And it's not a slippery slope to say that a senator on a USO tour shouldn't pose for a photo where he mimics putting his hands on the breasts of a woman he barely knows.

Maybe I am reading it wrong, he was a writer for SNL at the time, not a senator.

The kissing part, was supposed to be part of the script, I didn't see where it said forced his tongue down her throat.

I can only imagine the 24/7 outrage by the Media if this was a picture of a Republican or of President Trump.

There is outrage.. it's all over the news.. nobody is defending him.. stop feeling sorry for yourself.

I think the difference is that the sicko in this case admitted to it, issued an apology, and decided to launch an ethics investigation into himself.

I only feel sorry we have to wait for the Democrats in Congress to step up and call for his resignation.

So far we are getting "This is disturbing" from them.

A victim named Melanie Morgan has come out now saying that Franken stalked, harassed and intimidated her 17 years ago.

She found it to be so creepy and disturbing that she finally threatened to call the Police on him if he did not stop.

I was just watching MSNBC reporting about the picture of Franken "Mock Groping" the woman. I can promise you if it was a Republican, the word "Mock" would not be found anywhere.

I see far more of the real world than you can imagine.. because I don't go into every situation having already determined which "side" is right and which side is wrong... or looking for news coverage slants to be outraged about.

In the real world the Left is more concerned with Paper Towels, First Lady Shoes and scoops of ice cream.

He's referring to the dozens of allegations of sexual assault and rape against Trump, which are highlighted by his bragging about sexually assaulting women in an apparent attempt to impress Billy Bush.

Two things about this “story” strike me as curious:

1) Tweeden appeared naked to the whole world in Playboy magazine. Any girl that wants to arouse unknown men is not the “girl next door” and is certainly capable of lying.
2) Why these “horrific” allegations 11 years later?

One other thing. The “story” above is suspiciously choppy. Like bits and pieces of “facts”.

By the way, I’m not at all an Al Franken fan.

This is why I push so hard for Trials and Hearings and such.

It is wrong to accuse falsely and it is wrong to blame victims for coming forward. We have a Justice System in this Country that isn't perfect but it is one of the best in the world.

All sides need to be heard fairly.

I think the playboy comment is a little off base. The women did something to make some money. I don't care if your a stripper in a 10 dollar cover charge club, doesn't mean you cant be assaulted or worse.

This is appalling, and on par with "what was she wearing?/she was asking for it".
