The thing about NK and our response to them is how do we respond today, now that they are a Nuclear Power, when they do things like they have in the past.

In the past they have attacked a SK island and killed some people and their Subs have attacked SK ships.

If they pull that stuff today, will it be the beginning of the end?

Honestly, I don't know. I don't think so. KJU is pompous, arrogant and believes he is stronger than he is, sure, but I don't think he is so hair-brained as to go the nuke route.

No doubt that he is doing this to enable himself to be more aggressive on an international stage and use as a deterrent against strikes.

The problem is there is really no easy solution to what's going on. That's prevalent throughout all the past administrations.

Personally, I think we should shoot the next one down. A more aggressive angle is to allow SK to develop their own nukes. I'm not necessarily agreeing with that last option, but it's still possible depending on what administrations are present in SK in the future.

I agree with most of what you said on this but I was questioning what will happen if Kim attacks another island or his subs attack a SK ship, conventionally.

If we retaliate conventionally many experts think he will go with all out war, including Nukes.

I just don't see us sitting on our hands if he attacks an island or ship and saying "Oh Well".

So if what has happened in the past happens again today it could have an entirely different outcome.

I think it depends on the gravity of the retaliation.

The end game for North Korea is to reunite the peninsula under Northern rule.
With long range Nukes, Kim is betting the United States will not risk San Francisco, Seattle or Washington for Seoul South Korea.
This will allow him to invade the South.

The South Koreans are beginning to say they want their own Nukes because they don't want to put all their trust in the United States.
They want to be able retaliate on their own.

Our response, in my opinion, is to demand the North give up its Nukes and the only means we have to do that with is to either attack, allow the South and Japan to have Nukes too, or starve out their economy completely with sanctions and the cooperation of China and Russia.

We also need a campaign of showing the world just how bad Kim treats his people. Show the defectors and the poor shape they are in, undermine any credibility Kim has as a leader.

Next we attack NK to eliminate his Nuke capabilities as all that great tech protects the people of South Korea.

This way we don't need to protect the homeland at all.
