He was pitching pennies with some teammates in the back of the building after a rain. He slipped on the wet pavement landing awkwardly.

My point was trying remember what happened to Watson with the injury .. To lazy to look it up .. Not all of us have agendas / hyper sensitive / defensive / deflecting and so on .. lol .. It was a simple ?????? He was hurt running a non contact drill in practice ... Its his 2nd major knee injury i believe ... not sure if it was the same one ... Hopefully he doesn’t just have bad knees ... i’d really like to see what he develops into ... he’s a GREAT KID and i’ll be rooting for him ... Watson isn’t very accurate IMO and that will hurt him in this league ... i hope i’m Wrong and he played very well in a half a dozen games this year ... we’ll see on that ... with that said .... Watson is WAY MORE ACCURATE than Jackson ... its not even close ... Thats based off the 4 games I watched of Jackson yesterday .... im gonna watch more ... but my guess is that doesn’t change ... Jackson’s more innacurate than Kizer ... Go watch him against North Carolina ..good lord ...

My bad for any attitude, but I still stick by statement, that I'll take an offensive weapon who could get injured over what we have

Can someone help me close the gap I have with all of the Manziel vs. Mayfield comparisons?
Manziel was heavy into the parties, into drugs, women, etc. Mayfield planted a flag, grabbed his crotch and what else? Does he have the same partying type issues?

It's all good ! Being a member of this , and going back to the ORIGINAL board has a tendency to warp ones mind ) lol )..
I remember a time ( around 2000 )when I was all down on our Middle Linebacker and my only defender was Diam ... My Hero ! Can't remember his name , made a ton of tackles 4/5 yards down field .. I was called everything but a " Nice old Fart" .

He was publicly intoxicated in Arkansas one night and ran from the cops. Personally I thought grabbing his crotch on national tv was worse. At least in Arkansas he can claim he was drunk. But that crotch incident pissed me off because he was representing Oklahoma in a very bad light.

He better not do that in the nfl, cause it will be his head being taken off.

Kinda odd how none of the QBs have declared yet. I wonder if our franchise is scaring them all away.

My Top 3 are Darnold, Allen and Rosen ...

I don't want Barkley with the fourth pick, but having more QBs is better. We can only take one, which just means other team(s) will be taking players that we don't want anyway.

1. Rosen
2. Mayfield 3. Jackson
4. Darnold
5. Allen I should amend this and say that if we have a legit veteran QB (of which there are not very many), then I'd put Darnold second. His ceiling is the highest.

Jackson - Most like Russell Wilson Not seeing this at all. Wilson and Jackson were very different college players. Jackson reminds me a bit of like RG3 almost EDIT: I imagine the most talented guy out of the bunch and safest is Rosen. Just who i'd pick if i had to pick right now. Started three years in college. Was a good player from his first year as a true freshman. Throws a beautiful ball and looks like an NFL QB. Safe bet, so long as health/character checks out

Maybe Michael Vick would be a better comparison. I don't see the RG3 comparison myself. Maybe Vick. Vick was an awesome college player. Probably the best i've ever seen (him or Johnny Football). I loved Mike Vick. Can't believe Chris Weinke beat him out for the Highsman Trophey. That was a different time though. Vick did it all. Jackson just looks a lot taller than Vick out there. Otherwise i can see some similarties. But def Jackson is closer to RG3 than Wilson IMO.

Rosen - Best mechanics Darnold - Smartest Mayfield - Most like Brett Farve Jackson - Most like Russell Wilson Allen - Most like Big Ben My takes: Rosen: Best mechanics. Best accuracy. Best drops. Best reads. Best ability to make each throw. Smartest...by far. Concussions are a concern. Darnold: Lot's of upside. Gamer. Poor mechanics under pressure. Long windup. Nice potential. Mayfield: Most moxie. Most immature. Most likely to bust. Doesn't make 3, 5, and 7 step drops. Erratic feet. Jackson: Best candidate to make a position change. Terrible accuracy. Bad reads. Best athlete. Love the kid, but nah... Allen: Best guy I haven't studied. LOL Seriously, I watched one game, but I didn't evaluate. I have no idea about him other than what I have read.

My takes:
Rosen - Best pure passing QB in the draft. Will probably be the best one. Manning-esque
Darnold - Reminds me a lot of Brett Favre. He can remain cool and operate under extreme pressure.
Mayfield - Will have to change his game the most. Won't have the time to operate in the pocket nor can he scramble like he did against the Big 12. Could either flame out like JFF or could carve through teams like Drew Brees.
Lamar Jackson - Most potential. Has some accuracy issues, but makes up with it in play making ability. Almost impossible to game plan against him. If people want to talk about stats, then Lamar put up 9000 passing yards and 4000 rushing yards in 2.5 seasons. He's most like Deshaun Watson, but is faster than Vick and RG3. Could easily flame out in an old school style offense.
Allen - At times he looks like a real QB. Most of the time he looks like garbage. NFL comparison: Unfinished Michaelangelo statue. You can see the beauty there, but it's never going to be finished. Might want to move to TE or WR in the NFL. Worked for Matt Jones, might do well for Allen.

Did you see Mike Vick in college? Do you know what his 40 time was? Take a look. I doubt Lamar is faster. Given it wasn't electronically recorded then, Vick ran 4.33 At 36, Mike Vick beat LeSean McCoy in a 40 (And McCoy ran a 4.45 at the combine). I remember Vick verses us in 2001 or 2002. The game that got us to the playoffs. I've never seen anything like it. He was ridiculous. Greatest scrambler, then a throw on a rope to Stephen Jefferson with a flick of the wrist 40 yards. Wonderful game (and the Browns won thanks to William Green and Dwayne Rudd (Redemption story)) Guy was my favorite. Unbelievable. Not the best NFL QB, but man, he was great at Virginia Tech and in the NFL he could really do some special things.

Did you see Mike Vick in college? Do you know what his 40 time was? No. I only know him from the PETA commercials I'm also 12 years old. I saw him play in real life at West Virginia in 99. I remember him and Andre Davis tearing it up that afternoon. I remember watching him play that season and the following one. And he was a freak. I remember playing against Braxton Miller in HS. No one on our team could touch him. I thought what he could do was insane, but I knew it didn't really compare to the speed I saw Vick run at. Now I have yet to see Lamar Jackson play in real life, but I have watched enough tape on safety prospects in the ACC (Derwin, Whitehead, Blanding, and Van Smith) and I've seen Lamar outrun them all constantly. Have you watched him play? Also, why aren't you going this ham for RG3? RG3 almost made the US finals in the 400m hurdles at the age of 20. The dude had wheels too. I think his unofficial 40 time was a 4.35. You don't become the quickest player to get to 9,000 passing yards and 4,000 rushing yards in college football. The other two players to do that were Kaep and Tebow. The dude is special.

I am pretty sure that Pittsburgh would have to trade up to get Allen
Browns Giants Jets Denver Arizona San Diego
Possible
Buffalo New Orleans Jacksonville
So at this point I think he is in the top 10.
Welcome back, Joe, we missed you!…. That did not age well.

My 2 cents:
From a physical skillset stand point Lamar Jackson to me is a more explosive, liver armed version of Deshaun Watson.

It seems to me that Dorsey and Highsmith have a very tough decision to make. I believe they have to draft a QB at #1. There are 5 QBs who could be special...or none of them. They all come with risks. We get first choice, but it has to be the right choice.
This is the Browns. We have a history of making bad choices. Every time it seems it can't get any worse, we find a way. This could be the great turnaround. Or we could pick the wrong guy while all 4 others go on to HOF careers in what will be remembered as the greatest QB class ever.
And of course we have to handle it right. We can't pick a guy who needs to be developed and throw him into the fire like we did Kizer. We could pick Rosen who is most ready, and he ends up with concussion shortened career. Or we roll the dice with Allen hoping for a Roethlisberger and end up with bigger version of Kizer. Or Jackson only to see his knees destroyed after 2 seasons. Or Mayfield hoping for Wilson and get JFF2.
Part of me wants to go conservative and take Rosen, the surest bet to be good. Part of me wants to take Darnold in the hope that he learns to play the NFL like he played in 2016 for USC. Part of me says Allen could be the best of the bunch, so ignore that he is the highest risk.
Like Bonefish said, all we can do is trust that Dorsey makes the right decision.

It has to be Darnold or Rosen at 1.
My head would also explode if we took Mayfield or Allen over Darnold or Rosen. I’ve watched Allen probably 5 times and I just don’t see IT from him.

1. Rosen
2. Mayfield 3. Jackson
4. Darnold
5. Allen I'll play.... 1. Rosen 2. Allen 3. Darnold 4. Jackson 5. Mayfield Rosen - Best mechanics. Amazing accuracy to all levels. Best post-snap reads. Best anticipation. NFL-ready at working under center using variety of 3/5/7 step drops. He's a douche but I can live with it. Concussions are a big issue. Best QB prospect since Luck. NFL comparisons: (ceiling) Aaron Rodgers/Tom Brady - (median) Eli Manning. Allen - Prototypical size. Best arm strength. Accuracy is hit or miss. Didn't dominate mid-major competition but had a really young team. Will need to be coached up but has all the physical tools. NFL comparisons: (ceiling) Ben Roethlisberger/Carson Wentz Darnold - Good accuracy and touch with decent arm strength when under control. Will need work on pre/post snap reads at NFL level. Footwork gets really messy when pressured which affects his accuracy. Plays mostly in shot gun. Still young and inexperienced. Lots of potential but needs more time in college IMO. Jackson - Great college QB. Awful mechanics and accuracy. Big plays tend to come with his feet instead of his arm. Needs to learn to play within the pocket. Stats are a product of their funky offensive style and play calling. Slight build and running style makes him a huge injury risk. Most likely QB to change positions. Mayfield - Just no. God no. Go grab your crotch, flip off people, throw footballs at their heads and spit in people's faces somewhere else. Or go get drunk and arrested again if you feel like it. Maybe he can make a living doing his stupid sprint down the sidelines while doing windmill arms for an Old Spice commercial or something. His college success will translate to the NFL as well as Johnny Manziel's did. He'll be out of the league as quickly as Manziel was too. Just no.

My feeling is selecting QB's is as much about luck as it is about scouting. You can look at many players who checked all the boxes and never really panned out as expected. On the other hand you have many guys who didn't check all the boxes and ended up great.
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn. GM Strong
