What does everybody think of Cardale Jones? If I'm John Dorsey (and I'm not) I offer San Diego a couple 2nd or later round picks for him.
Big guy, bigger arm.
As far as running backs go, despite the fumble I keep Duke. If Crow walks who cares? He'll probably trip over a blade of grass going out the door. I find myself someone no smaller than 225-230lbs. that can punish you on the way to an average of 3.5 per carry minimum.
Get some corners that can run with the fastest receivers in the league so they don't have to drape themselves all over the guy hoping they don't get a PI call.
That's where I start.
WE DON'T NEED A QB BEFORE WE GET A LINE THAT CAN PROTECT HIM my two cents...

I say we keep both Crow and Duke. They were not the problem this year.

I wasted all that time this season waiting for the supposed NFL parity to kick in and excuse Kizer's inane play; didna happen.
Worse than I believed possible. Not sure "Get 'em next year" is positive; it seems cold comfort at best.
If Kizer were a car, maybe some weird "lemon law" might kick in to save us.

Now it's over...thank goodness.
I do see positives headed in to next year. It's odd, we didn't win a game but I honestly don't see us all that far away.
On D, our D line is stout. Stout enough in fact we might consider trading Danny. I think he is more of a 3-4 nose. Coley, Ogun, and Brantley have show they are pretty stout in the middle.
We need a corner and a FS to really make a difference IMO. I look forward to Peppers playing near the line. Something we didn't see much was him blitzing. I think he can be dynamic as a pass rusher.
On O, we have a pretty good line, especially when Joe comes back. Maybe add a RT via the draft.
The addition of Gordon helped a lot in the receiver room, but we still need a better mix there. Very doable with the draft and free agency.
We are good enough at back as it stands, but will make some additions this off season.
It's QB play that holds the O back. We all know that.
My first option would be go go all in for Cousins. We also have the ability to draft any QB we want. We have a bunch of 2nd rounders. It wouldn't bother me if we backed up a first round QB selection with a 2nd round QB selection as well.
Would it really upset any of you if we selected a Rosen(or add any name you wish) in the 1st and backed it up with a Riley Ferguson or Luke Faulk in the 2nd? It wouldn't bother me.
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn. GM Strong

I don't think Hue is a bad coach. He just isn't a good enough coach to extract a couple-three wins from this talent limited roster. He's not Todd Bowyles(sp).
If you think your coach is good enough to win with talent then you have to ask yourself IF not winning maybe 3 games on a talent depleted roster is fire-able offense?

Haslam is convinced this is going to work because he now has "football guys" leading his franchise.
Some people here are also convinced Hue needs to stay saying he is a strong factor when bringing in free agents. Let me ask you, if you're a free agent, are you going to be excited to come to a team that retained a coach who won 1 game in 2 years?

This team needs leaders. From the owner through the coaches to the players. We have none. We let Pittsburgh punk us every year, along with every other team on our schedule. I hope Dorsey sees this. Our team has some talent but we are too young. No veteran to look up to to lead when times are tough. Our veterans are more concerned with getting veterans days off in practice. We have accepted losing and a wait til next year mentality. Excuses and more excuses. I like Kiser because he's tough and doesn't quit under adversity. He doesn't make excuses but he's too young to know what he doesn't know. I also know we cannot depend on him to be our QB next year. Maybe down the road he will be but we need to bring in a veteran starter this off season. That veteran must be able to lead a team as well as perform on the field. We also need to add a veteran leader or leaders on defense at safety and corner. As well as a veteran wr who will be a leader. The key word is leader. In my opinion we have the talent to win games but no leadership. This losing, woe is me attitude has to change before we can think about being a good football team.
I just want a winner. We need players who can be part of the solution not part of the problem.

We coulda, woulda, shoulda won around 5-6 games.
Well now that the season is over, I'll take what we earned.
A crap load of Cap space to get some key FA and no not Britt caliber. More Zeitler types.
We got a new Football man running the show who knows how important it is to fix the QB thing and its a great year to do so.
We also have the #1, 4, 33, 35 picks in this draft!
Time for all our young players to progress and get some Vets in here!

Heart breaking really.
In 1964 the last Championship of the Cleveland Browns I was in 11th grade. I grew up with the Browns as a NFL powerhouse.
Never would I have thought that this team would sink so low.
My heart goes out to all the loyal fans of the Browns.
For those who want to lay the blame somewhere the target is easy to find: Haslam.
Moving forward I an hopeful that Dorsey will get this right. There is some talent but there is also some need.
Five high picks in the first two rounds. And plenty of cap space. The personnel moves made by Dorsey will dictate the future.
As powerless fans we can only hope.

I sure hope so, and I too am hopeful. However, we all thought and said the exact same thing when Lerner hired Mike Holmgren.

To piggyback off this...... Scott Petrak ct @ScottPetrak #Browns Jason McCourty was joined by Duke Johnson in saying players were bothered by people within organization continuing to say the talent on team wasn't good enough. i hope the players continue to speak out.
the coaching staff had no problems continuously tossing players under the bus. serves them right that its smacking them back in the face.
Gregg williams refusal to play a safety anywhere in the same stadium as the game being played led to so many TD drives. the excuse of "we dont want to get beat deep" went flying out the window early, as we were getting beat deep regardless. on top of that, teams nickel and dimed us all game because our safeties were so deep, leading to massive YAC gains.
Hue's refusal to run the ball and give crow more than 20 carries is one of many coaching blunders that directly led to a winless season.
teams would score a FG, and he'd act like we were down 17 or something, and make Kizer throw the ball left and right. we have two good RB's, an ok O line, and yet he decides to make Kizer toss the rock as if we were down big in the 4th quarter.
the Green bay loss, for example, was ALL coaching. we had that game.
so yea, i don't care if the players start teeing off on the coaches. the coaching staff absolutely had it coming.

Maybe I'm just an OSU homer, but I think Cardale Jones is a freaking stud, he needs to be worked with, and given a chance. I think its preposterous that he hasn't been given the starting role in the NFL at least once. I mean, who the heck have we got at QB, I'd take Jones in a heartbeat right now.

Let me ask you, if you're a free agent, are you going to be excited to come to a team that retained a coach who won 1 game in 2 years? In all fairness, who would replace Hue and "attract more free agents"? The stigma is in the ongoing futility more than the head coach. The stigma is also in the big red "reset button" that Jimmy keeps hitting. Hiring another marginal NFL coach, with a new plan, a new playbook, and new coordinators, would seem to be more of a negative to a lot of free agents. The bottom line is that Hue is well respected by players in this league... and no one in their right mind would look at this debacle and say "It's all Hue Jackson's fault". There is no savior on the horizon, there is no "we gotta go get this guy!" Our fantasies revolve around where Gruden ate Thanksgiving and whether Cowher bought a house near Cleveland. If anyone of these stoic coaches even had an inkling, they would wait til after next season. Hue Jackson is our coach next year and it's probably for the best. Until I hear we're talking to another candidate and his resume knocks my socks off - I'm cool with that.

Why is Hue respected and by who? He never really accomplished anything. Is it because he is a smooth talker and a nice guy. How foolish for Jimmy to retain this guy when he doesn't even know how to handle a rookie QB. Plus the debacle of not having a QB on the roster who has won a game in the NFL. How stupid is that. It's looking like Dorsey is another puppet who needed a job and is taking advantage of the millions he will make instead of taking charge and demanding his own coach. Seems cowardly to me!
Exciting football will be back in Cleveland this fall!

he's sitting behind Rivers, and before that, a (now) playoff caliber QB in tyrod. he hasn't had the opportunity to show anything.

When the Browns hired Jackson two years ago he was on the radar as a head coach candidate for a bunch of teams.
If you look at all the coaches that are getting fired they too were hot candidates as well.
If you look at the resumes of all these guys; they are filled with football experience.
Del Rio, Pagano, Fox, Caldwell, Arians.
Almost every team fan base has issues with their coaches (including the Steelers).
Jackson and these others didn't forget what they have learned over many years. Why did they fail?
The answer is complicated. Each case is different. There are many factors.
I have seen all kinds of "hot coordinators" get there chance and fail as well.
Success is the combination of ownership, GM, head coach, and the organizational structure.
Consistent winners are tight from top to bottom. Pats, Steelers, Ravens.
Look at all the other teams and you see the same turnover as the Browns.
The only answer is for ownership to find the right combination and stick with them. There may be ups and downs but as long as the "structure" holds together it well produce. Some years things happen. There is some luck that is needed especially related to injury.
Hue may not be perfect but he is not as bad as the record.
If Dorsey and Hue click the answer to our all hardships may be near.
All those that keep up the banging on Jackson are wasting their breath. Haslam made the decision to hire him and to keep him now.
Send Haslam a letter with your grievance.

Are you out of your mind? Hue should be 0-32 but not for Meders rare blocked field goal. You are what your record says you are!

Cleveland #Browns point differential should have meant 3.3 wins according to "Pythaganport" projection. Ties 2001 Chargers (5-11, 8.3 pyth wins) as the most underperforming team ever on 16-game schedule. https://twitter.com/FO_ASchatz/status/947873574349672448

What do you think of him? Cardale has a great arm and a lot of NFL guys probably drool over it. But Cardale lacks a lot between the ears to be an NFL QB. I always thought he was a long term project and without seeing anything else from him this year, I wouldn't give much for him.
