Probably but those teams didn’t go 0-16, and some of them decided to replace thief coaches.
And I wasn’t comparing anyone to anyone, just saying that it isn’t always the most talented teams that win on Sunday. I wasn’t even thinking of it in terms of the Browns, really. I think you're spot on. The NFL is structured for parity. The League wants parity. It's incredible how well the Cleveland Browns have defeated parity.

IMO, what that article is saying right there is enough to fire Sashi, by itself. That's bad.
It does stretch credibility. The idea that Belicheck effectively turned down more and higher draft picks to avoid the hassle of dealing with a certain team does seem unbelievable. But what you said is right, Schefter is no Grossi or MKC or that douche that prints all the dirt from Lombardi.
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

Any article on the JG trade that doesn't mention the name "Brian Hoyer" is missing a key piece to the puzzle. The article may be spot-on, but leaving out Hoyer makes it moot IMO. (With thanks to Pit for correcting my continued and lifetime misuse of a word I know...but somehow refuse to use.)

I was thinking that, New England was gonna need a backup to Brady and they wouldn’t settle on just anyone.

(With thanks to Pit for correcting my continued and lifetime misuse of a word I know...but somehow refuse to use.) We now have the parts of the puzzle. JG was sent out by Brady and JG had the support of BB, who called Kyle to make the trade. Nothing to do with he Browns, Sashi or trades... It was the end result of a NE power struggle, with the owner stepping in and forcing JG out to keep Brady.

The whole narrative that is being built to defend Hue is comparable to the new Star Wars plot, so much fantasy with so little sense and logic... I am getting really tired of you insulting everyone who doesn't want our HC fired. I do not like being branded as senseless and illogical. I wish the Refs would clamp down on posts like yours because it just leads to bickering. I read a comment like your above and typically let it go. Then, there's another. And another. And another. After a half-dozen insults like those, one gets sick of it and lashes out. Go ahead and bash Hue, but please stop acting like those of us who don't want him to be fired are ignorant! Thanks.

See....even Joe Thomas gets it. I knew the @JimmyG_10 smelled fishy! Belicheck trading him for only a second round pick “out of the goodness of his heart” makes zero sense and runs counter to everything #Belichick believes in. Especially since he didn’t offer @JimmyG_10 to any other teams to get the highest bid. Good reporting by @SethWickersham getting to the bottom of this. https://twitter.com/joethomas73/status/949349864810467329
At DT, context and meaning are a scarecrow kicking at moving goalposts.

At least you're honest enough to admit you have an agenda. I get you want to trash Hue. I just wish you would keep it in the threads that pertain to the subject, like this one without trashing every thread on the board.

Its odd that this information 'got out'.
I also thought it was odd that the Pats gave up Garapolo for only a 2nd then turned around and gave away Brisett for a WR that never plays.
They gave away 2 QBs that started last season and only got a 2nd round pick and depth WR in return.

Cleveland Browns rumors: Patriots weary of Browns trade tactics You see this sometimes in the NFL (and other facets of business/life.) Those who are good with numbers/analytics, like Sashi Brown, also have to realize that in business there are other things that matter too. A trade or business transaction should be one where both sides understand where each other are coming from, and the deal is in the parties' mutual best interest. Nobody likes to get nickel and dimed. There's a way to approach these things that is in the best interest of your franchise, but also preserves relationships in this highly interconnected league (and world.) I used to think to think a similar thing about Joe Banner. To Banner's credit, he has actually helped build winning teams, so he has clearly done some things right.

Yet they made the Jamie Collins trade just a year earlier.

Haslam didn't sit down and mull over whether he should fire Sashi or Hue. Jimmy sought the advice of others. This wasn't Haslam solely thinking for himself. In fact in the beginning of October he even came and stated how happy he was with the work of Sashi and the front office. Sashi was fired because he's not a football lifer. It's that simple.
Also, the NFL doesn't care about parity. They might say they do and they might want to give you the impression they do, but they don't. The NFL is making a crap load of money with the Patriots on top and the Browns on the bottom. If it ain't broke, why fix it?

To a point I agree with you. I do believe Haslam didn't make his decision in a vacuum. But I also don't feel it's realistic to think that what the men brought before him and proposed to him didn't enter into the decision. I don't believe the two are mutually exclusive. I think it would be naive to say that he just asked some people what they thought without giving them some background about what each man had proposed and the direction each had throughout the time they had been here to that point. I think you're oversimplifying things a wee but.
When it comes to parity, I agree that the NFL is probably pretty happy with the status quo. Yet at the same time, it's not the NFL that makes the draft picks or signs the FA's of each team. It's not the NFL that dictates the hires of each owner in regards to FO personnel and coaching staffs. They give the worst teams the best picks and each team has the same cap space to spend. So while the NFL may be happy with the status quo, it also appears that every team does have the opportunity to get better.

I think its rather simple, Winning is the cure all.
We have leverage now with the draft picks to hire a coach, after we chose, and if they are bad, nobody in his sane mind will com here. Then Get Gary Busey! I bet even he'd win 3+ games, even with these Browns! There is no possible scenario that we win keeping Hue... NONE..
Well he's the coach so, that's the breaks.

versatile, I agree 100% with the decision to keep hue. 100%!! but I do find it a bit odd that you condemn a poster who thinks hue should be fired for branding you senseless and illogical. just in the past couple of days you have called the fans who want a coaching change dumbasses and morons.
while I absolutely support hue as our coach I can understand the position of those who disagree with me and I do not think they are dumbass or morons.

I think you're right. I oversimplified things. I'm sure there were discussions about the people in place. Haslam was picking brains. That's what he does best. I have little doubt that one of the main reasons if not THE reason Sashi was fired is that isn't a football lifer. I think all of us can spin it however we want, he botched a trade, he didn't draft well, he wants to win the deal b.s., etc the fact remains he wasn't among the NFL elite. Sooner or later this was going to hinder the Browns, so if you want to blame Sashi for that, so be it.
However the truth remains we have an awesome young core of players. Two 1st rd picks and 3 2nd rd picks in the upcoming draft. We have superstars here ready for deployment, Coleman, Njoku, Garrett...
I think some people also erroneously put the quarterback situation on Sashi. Hue's hands are all over this. Hue was given the reigns on the position and Sashi listened. Cutting McCown, not drafting Wentz, drafting Kizer.
I think the thought is that hue finally got fed up and said we are getting McCarron because the other quarterbacks have sucked. But I sometimes wonder if the dessention came the other way around and Sashi said he was tired of Hue butchering the position and said there was no way he was trading two picks for a backup... but the way it was set up, whatever Hue wanted at QB, he was to get... Sashi said no, the two were at odds, someone had to go but continuity was necessary, and hue was the obvious choice because of all the football people Haslam talked to, Hue was the well respected one within the NFL "fraternity" and....football lifer.

Dorsey is going to WIN now with his actions as GM. That means a veteran QB as we train the New QB...Also FA expenditures to shore up the team along with the 5 impact picks, 4 in the top 35 Plus the progress of a lot of good young players entering year 2 and 3! My first reaction, (To Dorsey is going to WIN now with his actions as GM.), was to laugh, I know you know Gm's don't win football games. Later my reaction, (to the picks thing), is to say, Didn't we do this last year, isn't this exactly what happened last year. Thirdly my reaction is to say: If Dorsey Could do it all; it would mean Hue is powerless, or pointless, and has no bearing on the result, just a victim, and if a victim of Sashi being bad.?. How would it be fair to Hue to make him a product of whether Dorsey is either Good or bad at decisions? ^But none of that is true, because Hue is not a victim of Sashi, Hue is the head coach that means he has a part in the things that go on around him. Simple part...if we win Hue stays if we lose Hue will be gone.
Well NO! We could have said that last year... And Hue is still here!
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

Here we disagree 100%. To me there's no way in hell that Hue wanted to go into this season with Kizer, Hogan and Kessler being his QB room. Now neither of us can actually prove that we are right, but let's look at what was said when Dorsey was hired. Haslam said Dorsey's #1 priority was to get a QB. Until Dorsey got here, we had two numbers guys in charge and one of those numbers guys was the tie breaker. Yet somehow it was the only football guy making the call? I don't buy that. Well that's a wonderful hypothesis but it really in no way explains why the guy who botched up our greatest need is still here and the guy who had no say in the QB position got axed except some theory about, "Well he wasn't a football guy." The math doesn't work for me. Every HC wants a QB. They don't want a third round project or a cast off 5th rounder from another team. They don't want the fourth QB drafted at #52 if given the choice. Only numbers people would say that a QB isn't drafted much higher. Because numbers don't tell you that the QB position is the most highly valued position in the NFL. They don't tell you that the QB position makes picking them higher worthy of the pick. Numbers just go strictly by BPA and that's never actually been a part of the process when drafting a QB.

Fair enough.
But I don't think for an instant Hue takes this job without a say in quarterbacks. Hue took the job having full control over quarterbacks. Probably how we sweetened the deal so he didn't go to the giants along with guaranteeing him 3 years, hence why he's still here.
Also, Haslam reiterates over and over that now we have football guys in place, football lifers. This isn't a coincidence. That is all.
That's my stance and I know people agree with me and I know people agree with your take. No big deal. We disagree.
