This isn't going to be a well-received by some of our posters, but that's okay. I've been thinking about the Brown's continued poor play since we have come back.
We have had multiple owners, multiple GMs, presidents, scouts, head coaches, coordinators, position coaches, players, etc. All have failed.
What's the constant? The fans and media scrutiny.
Think about it. Regime after regime is hired. The majority talk about how we gotta give the new guys time. Yet, w/in 2 years, most of those same people are clamoring for people to be fired.
I heard a comment from Pat Shurmur during today's telecast. He said something like.........." ...except for Cleveland, where it was crazy." We have heard the similar comments from guys like Hoyer, Gipson, and many others.
Look at our very own board over the course of the last few months. It's dominated by posters who are on a crusade to get our HC fired. They ignore that firing coach after coach after coach has NOT worked and whine, cry, and stomp their feet to get their way.
Think about that...They are demanding that a person gets fired.
I have heard several commentators over the years say that the Browns ownership needs to ignore the outside noise and stick w/their guys. I agree w/this. I have seen too many ex-Browns, whether they be players, coaches, or FO dudes find success elsewhere.
I am calling for the Browns to ignore the cries of firing our coach and seeing things through. The fans and media who keep crying for firings haven't been right one time. Ignore the fools!

Thanks for trying to hijack the thread, but can you provide the names of the media members and fans who tried to get Sashi fired?

Hmmm. In your opinion which of any of the past head coaches really had clear vision and viable plan to insure success? How many of the HC since 99 went on to be successful HC else where after leaving Cleveland How many GMS went on to build playoff rosters after getting fired in Cleveland Truthfully most HC in Cleveland since 99 it was their first time being a HC and it showed The GMs an HCs since got themselves fired not the media or fans They don't prepare game plans or draft busts like Robiskie or Weeden or get routinely beat by AFC North teams

Pat Shurmur is suddenly one of the hottest candidates in the NFL, and we hated him when he was here. Ran him out of town. It wasn't like he went 1-31. And I wanted him gone, too. I think it is time we stick with someone, it just may be until we got the one who is least worthy of our patience. But Vers, your point is well-taken.

Evidence as to what I am talking about. It's cool.
You know, someone mentioned recently about all of the posters who have left the board over the last few years and suggested it was about the record.
I disagree. The Browns have sucked for years. I think many have left because of posters like you. Thread after thread is hijacked. Football conversation is minimal. Agendas are prevalent. It's not about real football talk. It's about personalities and it has driven many people away.
Y'all are a problem.

I do think the fire Sashi brigade ran a ton of posters off the board. They still think they own the board and will keep trying to run off more.

Thanks Big G. I actually think we have a lot of good posters on here, but they don't speak up because we have a group of posters who shout anyone down who doesn't share their opinion.

I am sure there are fans in Pittsburgh wanting Tomlin fired tonight. Cincinnati fans are mad Lewis wasn't fired. It's not only Browns fans. I can only speak for myself but I am so tired of the losing year after year only to be told we are 2 or 3 or 4 years away. Wait til the draft and we get our franchise QB, year after year. Well I am excited with the hirings of Dorsey, Highsmith and Wolf. I trust they will make the right decisions. All Browns fans have different views on how to make the team better but we all have 1 thing in common. We want a winner. I guess that's a whole lot better than some fan bases who don't give a [censored]. I read a lot of stuff on here from people that I don't agree with but it's their right to voice their opinion. I don't argue with them I just state mine and move on. I doubt Haslam cares what I think anyway.
I just want a winner. We need players who can be part of the solution not part of the problem.

Can you name the posters who tried to get Sashi fired? I don't remember anyone. I remember reading some of questioning some of his moves. I also remember a bunch of you trashing people who dared "question" any move he made. I also see that the same guys who freaked out over questioning even one move Sashi made are now posting SEVERAL posts per day about how terrible Hue is.
Again, guys like you are the problem. I hope to God that Haslam ignores you guys and continues to build the team in the right way.

I think many have left because of posters like you. One of us is involved in the vast majority of conflicts in these forums. One of us gets routinely banned for provocative and inappropriate posts. One of us repeatedly whines about being a victim. One of us tries to bully those that disagree with him. Here's a clue, it ain't me.

I gave you his address and phone number. What more do you want? I don't think he reads Dawgtalkers, so you'll have better luck with that. I don't need to name anyone because everyone here knows the list. I should give you some special mention because you are still celebrating the firing though. Perhaps you could create your own message board where you would only allow people to post what you agree with? I'm just trying to be proactive here and help you out.

What in the hell are you talking about? I'm talking to the members of the board. I don't think I have any power over decisions. LOL
I am pointing out something that I have been considering for awhile. I read comments from Hoyer, Gipson, and Shurmur about how crazy it is in Cleveland. I read comments on this board about how we have to fire this guy and that guy. Hell, I read a post by Diam the other day that sickened me w/it's personal nature against Hue.........and predictably, several of you who ruin almost every thred, "liked" it. I just logged off because I was so disgusted.
I am posing an alternative opinion to guys like you, Diam, device, rasta, Memphis, 32, Vambo, and peen who trash Hue constantly.
I'm saying you guys are wrong. I'm saying we should stick w/Hue and ignore the guys who are always crying for someone to be fired. I have tried to politely ask you guys to back off. You have refused. So, don't freaking cry when I make posts that defend Hue.

And I think Hue has entirely earned his reputation here in Cleveland. You can make posts to defend Hue all you want. What you can't do is expect others to change their opinions to match yours simply because you want them to.

I think Haslam should stick w/Hue. And I think Haslem should have stuck with Pettine! Hue is the coach, "you" should be the happy one. The future is bright.
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

The one year where it would’ve been perfectly expected to fire a coach, Haslam decided to stick with Hue.
IMO, it’s because he needed to in order to have any hope for bringing in a quality candidate in the future.
This franchise has no credibility. We have fired coaches repeatedly, even one after just one season. We have fired GMs and other front office personnel at the same rate.
Haslam had no choice but to stick with Hue. He finally got the guy he wanted, not some guy that was kinda forced upon him, but because of his front office hirings, so far this rebuild has been a collosal failure. We can’t even rank properly.
I hate to say this so early, but Sashi’s overall draft choices aren’t looking so hot.
But these situations all have to be tied back to the owner.
Here’s the problem: we haven’t won a title since 64. So how many owner(s) did we go through that we’re also failing?
Is it Haslam... or is it just the city?
Look at our other sports franchises. Come on, title-wise we’re trash.
It a Akron-born kid to bring us our first title in how many years? 52?
Hell, he bounced and almost didn’t come back.
Imagine everything playing out the way it did, prior to “the decision”. We draft him #1 overall etc etc.
**accept** Lebron James isn’t from Akron. Say he’s from LA.
He never comes back. That’s how much divine intervention it took for the city of cleveland to end the title drought. We have had the most backbreaking sports moments in history.
The shot, the drive, the fumble.
I don’t know if any owner can save this franchise. Because here’s the problem:
Haslam HAS made the right decisions. We have John Dorsey, and he’s made some nice hires in the front office.
And we got the coach that YOU, Vers, are going to war for.
So we have the coach and GM. Sounds like Haslam did his part.
But it’s time for these football guys to do their part. Because we have had quality guts running the team before and we still sucked.
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”
- Theodore Roosevelt

The problem is not the fans.
Fans don't know squat - me included. That's why nobody with actual power and half a brain listens to a word the fans say. Ever.
The problem is Jimmy Haslam.
I think he just MIGHT actually listen to the fans. I mean he let them convince him to draft Johnny Football. Who's to say he won't let them convince him to draft Baker Mayfield next?
No, the fans and this board are just fine. We have actual, real, legitimate problems - and it starts at the very top.

"the guys responding are the guys I am talking about."
careful there, a ref might look at that as trying to bait others.
Correct me if I'm wrong but your post was supposed to be about how ownership is supposed to respond to the media and the fans?
That would be why someone might be posting about Hue's daughter leaking things to the media.
I am certain your post was intended to spur Jimmy into doing the right thing and not to bait other posters.

Deal w/it. Who is it that has cleaned house on the offensive side of the coaching carousel? If firing coaches has not worked it’s quite possible you should look at who is firing those coaches. Looking at users of this board who have absolutely no input into the hiring and firing of coaches is a bit redundant.

Swish...........I think you make some very good points and I hope this thread can w/stand the BS from guys like jfan and Dep and actually evolve. I get that most don't want to face that group's wrath, but it's an important topic.
We run coaches out of here every couple of years. We have run FO guys out of here almost as much.
I think Haslam wanted to stick w/the plan, but when you have a situation where the coaching staff and Sashi won't even speak to each other.........LOL.....what the hell are you gonna do?
I think Haslam brought a lot of guys in to examine the situation. I think he brought in guys like Singletary, Manning, Parcells, Wolf, etc to study what was going on w/the two opposing groups.
I think that the above experts informed Haslam that the failures were more in Sashi's hands than Hue's. That is WHY I think Haslam chose to keep Hue and fire Sashi.
Thus, no matter what some of the Sashi lovers say, I am hoping Hue gets a fair shot at coaching this team. I am hoping that Haslam doesn't listen to the media and the hateful fans and fire yet another coach.
Does that make me right? No. It's just my wish...

I probably should not speak for Vers, but I took it as him saying as a fan base - and we on this board are sort of a focus group of the core of the Browns' base - we are angry, fickle and unreasonable. Maybe it is one of the reasons - one - that we can't ever seem to build anything in Berea. But folks that say "fire Hue" aren't crazy or wrong. I mean, 1-31 .... Since we are stuck with him, I'm hoping he learned a lot from getting his ass kicked.

I would love a link to this one! When Mike Singletary gave Jimmy his expert opinion, were his pants up or were they down? On an unrelated note, does anyone know if this board has an emoticon for a dream sequence?
