Mueller's office questioned Sessions in Russia investigation

Attorney General Jeff Sessions was questioned for several hours last week by special counsel Robert Mueller's office as part of the investigation into Russia's meddling in the election and whether President Donald Trump obstructed justice since taking office, a source close to Sessions told CNN.

The interview took place last Wednesday. A source familiar with the discussion said it was the first time Sessions was interviewed and he was not under subpoena.
The White House said it is cooperating with Mueller's investigation and press secretary Sarah Sanders said she didn't know if Sessions and Trump discussed the interview on Monday when Sessions was at the White House. White House special counsel Ty Cobb did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The New York Times first reported on the interview, which is a major development in Mueller's investigation. Last week, two people familiar with the process told CNN former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon has struck a deal with Mueller's team and will be interviewed by prosecutors instead of testifying before a grand jury. The sources did not say when the interview will take place or if the subpoena would be withdrawn.
Sessions announced he would recuse himself from all matters relating to the Russia investigation in early March 2017. Politicians, including Republicans, praised the decision at the time, but Trump has publicly rebuked his attorney general and said he wished Sessions had not recused himself.
Sessions' recusal left Justice Department oversight of the probe to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who appointed Mueller to be special counsel after Trump fired former FBI Director James Comey in May 2017.
Earlier this month, the Times reported that Mueller is aware of an unsuccessful attempt by Trump to lobby Sessions to not recuse himself from the Justice Department's Russia probe.

The more we learn the LESS anything about this election was legitimate.

President Trump has read the Memo and as President he can declassify and release it, but won't.

He says the Memo is so bad against Obama and his administration that it could bring down the United States as a Nation and force the UN to take us over.

40 I think the bigger issue today is wether or not Sessions continued to back the Trump train or if he threw Trump under the bus with Mueller. Sessions has taken a lot of crap from both sides at different times and stood by Trump; but he knows lying to Mueller is not the same as saying I don't remember to Congress.

I think the big story should be Mueller switching his investigation from looking for collusion where there never was any to finding out how a sea turtle, inside a shell, can produce so many eggs at once.

Meanwhile Paul Manafort's high fashion ankle bracelet is leaving many other Russian oligarchs green with envy.

Was the special counsel on Clinton appointed to investigate oral sex? I think not.

How much time and how much money was spent investigating emails that turned out to be nothing? Or how about Benghazi?

So if after years, Mueller shows nothing then we will find another way to come at it. That play is right out of the GOP playbook.

I get the feeling that Trump and family have broken the law somewhere along the way and have not been very smart about covering their tracks. It could literally be any law or ethical issue just like with Clinton.

Obstruction of Justice if he told Sessions not to Recuse himself is serious but not Traitorous.

Past financial deals is minor and you could lock up half the government for that sort of thing.

Collusion was your big chance at "Getting Trump" and it has turned out to be another case of Liberal/Progressive/Democrat nonsense, like so much these days.

Mueller has already produced (2) guilty pleas and (2) additional indictments. You can probably guess that he is getting warm from all the feathers rustling on the republican side

Why would republicans feathers be rustling, they would rather have Pence in there anyway.

The feathers being ruffled are Don Jr. and Jared Kushner's right now who are waiting for the shoe to drop on them.

People cannot possibly think Trump will be removed from office, can they?

Mueller will now stall the investigation until after the 2018 election in hopes of having enough Democrat Senators and Congressmen to push any kind of impeachment.

That is the absolute goal of the left. They cried and moaned when trump said he would concede during the debate, yet they have been trying since day 1 to overthrow a democratically elected president of the united states.

Seems to me the collusion and traitors are those involved with this farce and anyone supporting it.

Just a couple weeks ago they said Mueller had more charges coming soon... Nothing since. But he did the other indictments a month in advance of us knowing, so there is that to think about.

He is also interviewing the bigger fish right now, pushing for Trump himself too. Can't imagine he would even ask for that if he thought Trump was unquestionably clean in all of this. But you are right this is a nothing burger that has already resulted in indictments.

According to Washington Post, Mueller is now ready to talk to the president as soon as next week. Some of the topics include the firing of Comey and Flynn

If the document is classified who has to declassify it before any info from it can be released? Can't someone go to jail for releasing classified information?

Have you seen how leaky the entire government has been? Nobody is going to jail for that right now. Everybody and their momma has something to leak.

Considering Sessions announced this DOJ probe of missing FBI text messages during a supposedly critical time of the Russian investigations, that alone could be considered obstruction of justice since he's recused himself of that investigation altogether.
