I went to search for the "because you'd be in jail" line from one of the debates, and on Google up came, "because you'd be in jail thug life".
Apparently this was a pretty popular thing. There are some funny videos but the language wouldn't be appropriate here. Maybe a screenshot will suffice.
Home Depot hourly employees to receive up to $1,000 bonus due to tax reform
-Home Depot joins a growing list of corporations using new tax benefits to invest in their workers. -Certain additional expenses and the bonus payments will negatively impact Home Depot's fiscal 2017 earnings. -Home Depot is still evaluating how new tax legislation will impact the business in fiscal 2018, but said it should be "beneficial."
Small business confidence blasted off the day after the 2016 election and remained in the stratosphere for all of 2017, making last year an all-time record setter for the NFIB Index of Small Business Optimism, released today.
“2017 was the most remarkable year in the 45-year history of the NFIB Optimism Index,” said NFIB President and CEO Juanita Duggan. “With a massive tax cut this year, accompanied by significant regulatory relief, we expect very strong growth, millions more jobs, and higher pay for Americans.”
The Optimism Index for last month came in at 104.9, slightly lower than the near-record November report but still a historically exceptional performance. That makes 2017 the strongest year ever in the history of the survey. The average monthly Index for 2017 was 104.8. The previous record was 104.6, set in 2004.
“We’ve been doing this research for nearly half a century, longer than anyone else, and I’ve never seen anything like 2017,” said NFIB Chief Economist Bill Dunkelberg. “The 2016 election was like a dam breaking. Small business owners were waiting for better policies from Washington, suddenly they got them, and the engine of the economy roared back to life.”
Home Depot never could have afforded such bonuses before that tax break. I mean the company's sales totaled $28.1 billion last year. They were barely financially solvent before that tax cut. Whew. Just in time.
"Frankly, if you look at the bonuses, which I haven't heard of a corporate bonus more than $1,000 so far—which by the way is taxed, so it's not $1,000," Schultz said. "And then you spread $1,000 over the course of a year—to think of about how much that is—of course they get it all at once. But I'm not sure that $1,000—which is taxed, taxable—goes very far for almost anyone."

It's pretty disingenuous for folks to be bashing companies like Home Depot or anybody else over these bonuses.. HD has over 300K employees.. I don't know how many of them are hourly but this bonus is going to cost them a $100 million+... They also have an average hourly rate over $10 and they offer benefits even to part-time employees...

To be equitable.. most folks aren't getting $1000. You have to have 20 years of service to get the full $1000 and I doubt most hourly workers have been there 20 years. Most folks are going to get $200 or $400..
Now, these are also people in the pay range of $11-12/hour.. so if they work 40 hours/week, they make $22-25K/year.. A few hundred bucks is a decent bonus to them.
Shultz is just showing her elitism here by downplaying the value of a few hundred bucks to people like that. If an Obama policy had been the cause of them getting a few hundred bucks in bonus, she would be calling it "life-changing"...

I am not sure which business you are talking about, but most business have stated that they will ALL get 1000.00 bonus. I haven't heard the 20 year thing, so I would have to see a link stating otherwise.

You are 100% correct with this. 1000.00 to employees making 10-12 an hour is I would be more than their life savings in liquid assets. I remember the left touting cell (Obama) phones - yet they are bashing 1000.00 bonus'/

Agreed. But it's not just Shultz. It's even some posters on here.
The whole "well, that company could've done it anyway", or "well, that company could do more"...etc.
Bottom line is, the company/s did it, and they didn't have to.

I’m not discrediting the fact they are doing it. I’m merely stating it’s not as though they NEEDED the tax cut to be able to do it. They’ve been making record profits for years. Sure they’re doing it now. Good. Good for those that get the money. But to think that these companies, prior to the tax cuts, were too strapped for cash to treat their employees financially better is disingenuous. That’s all.
Yeah, it just goes to show you can't make everyone happy.
Had these companies NOT have done anything, one side would say "look, those greedy companies, keeping it all." (which, not sure if you're aware of how stocks and stuff help everyone, even the little guy).
The companies give bonuses and it's "that's nothing, they could do more."
I can walk into my front yard and look in either direction (left or right) and see 2 neighbors that make much more than me. Now, some people in that situation might say "that's not fair, I deserve more".
I don't.
I look at what I have, and am thankful for it.
I look at what I have, and think "man, there's probably a good number of people that think my wife and I have it made."
Quit looking at what companies "have", and what they "could do".
I know you know that, so I'm preaching to the choir here.
I promise you, if any companies give out a bonus this year, and business goes to pot next year, those employees won't be saying "Ah, bad year. Let's give the company last years bonus back."
I'm fairly certain the $1000 for employees with 20+ years was Wal Mart. Fairly certain about that.
It was Home Depot in the article I read.. their bonus plan started at $200 for newer employees and went up in $200 increments based on length of service to a max of $1000 for anybody over 20 years.. I was talking specifically about Home Depot, which had been referenced, I would assume other companies have their own plans..
You say you were the best man in someone's wedding that is a different race, and you wonder why people may question if you are xenophobic or racist...
And then you say...

Do you not understand the irony in this?
You see, what you completely MISSED in the post because of your sheer outrage and hatred, was the fact that when Obama gave out cell phones, they touted him. I was referring to that, as when a corporation gives out a 1000.00 bonus, they are demeaned.
I used THE ACTUAL WORLD FAMOUS QUOTE to show this analogy. However you take it as racist.
You really wanna know what racist? When i said i had a person of a different race in my wedding, you automatically assumed he was black. . . . Apparently in your world, black people are the only race to white people.

Do you know how often I've seen "the enlightened" from the left want to imply something is stupid so they include "y'all" or some other southern expression because they think that makes it sound less intelligent? Yet they will simultaneously claim they don't judge people or profile people, blahblahblah...
Walmart's wage increase will take effect in February. The company said the one-time bonuses would cost the company $400 million and will be based on length of service. Employees who have worked for at least 20 years will get the full $1,000, but most will get up to a few hundred dollars.

A "few hundred dollars" for a low skill, low education job bonus sounds like a pretty good bonus to me.

It is. These folks typically don't get bonuses at all.
Haus with yet another trashing of blacks that fit his views.
How surprising.
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”

What's the sense of talking about the free phone video, without actually posting the video. Don't like it? Kick rocks.
Some people have a sense of humor and don't have to get offended at everything. When I posted the goofy looking Bernie supporter and mentioned OCD, he came right back with an ugly looking, single-toothed Trump supporter. That's the kind of back and forth I like. You've gone soft.
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”
Calling racist again? Now that everything is considered racist, racist has lost all meaning.
Did I call him a racist? Link?

See that big old question mark after my comment? Yep, the universal sign for asking a question.
The problem is you continued on with your rambling.
I know you trump supporters love playing captain save em, but Haus has a pattern of pulling this nonsense.
It’s higly stupid and why I don’t treat him with any sort of respect when it comes to those sorts of discussions.
But I’m sure you agree with your fellow “forgotten American”.
