Was saving this little golden nugget for the heated battle over the memo, but since Trump supporters are busy rethinking their views as info pours in on this, here is the slam dunk that this is a hitjob for Trump to fire people investigating him!
Over the years, I've watch and seen a whole lot of what Congress does. And FBI investigations, etc.
Lois Lerner, all the tax cheats in the O admin, investigating Trump, Bush, Clinton x 2, what ever comes of it?
Pretty much nothing. It's a dog and pony show for the "investigators" to get air time.
It seems congress spends so much time investigating, with no end result, that they don't have time to do the job they were elected to do. Wait, that's what they want.
Votes matter, and they'll do anything they can to get votes.
Jobs matter - for those fed. employees - they gotta come up with something.
Geez, just last night I watched so many vids of Gowdy tearing apart witnesses, Chaffetz doing the same. On and on. What ever happened to any of them?
Pretty much nothing. Nixon got canned, and that goes way back. Oliver North might have gotten penalized (I don't remember for sure, to be honest) I would guess some others did as well.
It's just a dog and pony show. Dem, or R.
Our nations politics has become a blood bath, with no consequences. And it will get worse as the years go by.
OCD, here's the thing man, virtually every person mentioned in this memo had a known and stated belief Trump should not be allowed to be President, ranging from being "desperate" to having an "insurance policy" if he does. The information was provided by some overtly biased players who had direct ties with those handling the investigation. At worst there is a clear and gross bias. I've tried to tell you guys in the past that this liberal approach of ends justifying the means, playing fast and loose is going to get Trump off scott free if there is actually criminal wrongdoing.
No, this memo doesn't negate the investigations of Trump associates prior to the FISA warrant, but it does blow a pretty big hole in the bridge trying to bring Trump in to it.
Even if there was enough probable cause for the warrant to be issued w/o the memo, the fact that the memo was blatantly misrepresented in the affidavit logically calls in to question the quality of the 'other stuff'.
I'm not going to say there's nothing at the end of the investigation, but the way these investigations are being conducted, it's going to be an unprosecutable case.

Besides using a fake dossier to get the warrant the dossier came from a source outside of the United States. I thought the left did not like other countries meddling in our elections? Or is the only when they assume the meddling was against them?

another suspect thing about the dossier is it was purposefully formatted to give the appearance of being an actual intelligence document. That there says the it was intended to be released or "leaked" to avenues outside the DNC.
It's a totally different thing for the DNC to hire someone like Steele to dig up dirt in the name of opposition research, kinda like hiring a private eye. I have zero issue with that.

I don't know about you, but I'd be ticked if I hired a private eye and he told me lies. If you hired him to tell lies, like the dems, then you gto what you paid for.
lol Rocket took all the Republicans here to school and they beat him down with their ignorance. If this 5G thing ever happens Rocket's gotta get it first. He can't be wasting his data cap teaching cons all day.

I'm sure Rocket is decent Dawg in person, but he's shown time and again a complete lack of knowledge on legal concepts.

That's a reasonable response Devil and I can see why you feel that way. However, this does not make the possible crimes uncovered by Mueller unprosecutable in any way. Just ask the guys he has charged so far.
If anything this just adds an extra layer and something else that needs to be fixed. It really doesn't matter rather the right like the process that the just voted to renew, right now it's law and it was followed.
The Kimmel video and this thread taught me one thing. The decent dawgs on here sit in silence, and those sipping from the fountain of fake news run wild like rabid dogs. This used to be a place where we could rationally discuss controversial topics, we could talk about factual data (as I routinely present), and we’d all learn a bit from each other. Long gone are those days.
My friends who enjoy playing whack-a-mole, keep doing you. I will no longer waste my time.
Maybe I’ll return when 45 gets impeached or leaves office in 3-7 years.

Well the whole "fake dossier" thing is Trump and company's spin or perception. And parts of the dossier were very accurate even if much wasn't (still not sure because I would need more info). As for meddling, I don't see how hiring a foreign intelligence agent to do some digging is foreign meddling at all, especially on the scale of Russian interference with the election! I'm beginning to feel like you are reaching for something, anything to confirm your suspicions. I understand that.
We'll know how important this memo is in a few months. Right now I don't see it.

I could see your point IF Steele wasn't a former British intelligence agent but this is how he is trained and has probably had many other similar gigs in the past. I'm sure nobody just paid Joe Unheardof to do this kind of research... Think about it Steele has probably been a goto guy for a while.

So begins my exile away from insanity.
Nah Rocket, you have to stay even if you only chime in now and then. I get tired of it too and get banned everytime I get ticked off, lol.
Just know that at the end of the day history will prove us right or wrong, not the far right on this board. There are a lot of good guys in that group, they are just blind to the truth right now. This must be what 1930's Germany was like for those that didn't buy into the fascism.

Oh, I'm not disagreeing about Steele's qualifications... Research and intel gathering are right up his alley. It's not uncommon to get civilian work with that kind of skill set. And i have zero doubt that every other candidate hired their own ex-intel types to do very similar things.
Is it possible Steele uncovered legitimate criminal activity? It is. But that dossier was never viewed by anyone as credible from the start. BuzzFeed was the one to publish it, even though many more news outlets had it. Not even the CNN types believed it was credible enough to publish.
Again, I'm not saying there won't be anything at the end of all this, even in light of the fact that to date no.one can describe exactly what Russia did to change votes.
Campaign donations? Illegal from foreign sources but it was widely known the Chinese funneled money in to the Clinton campaigns years back. That's a wash.
Disseminating fake.news about the opponent? It's American politics bro lol. You can't cry fowl if someone else is better at it.
Honestly, if the media outlets ran it after the DNC "leaked" it to them, I wouldn't care. Just typical mudslinging nonsense.
The problem is that if was used wholly or at minimum in part to justify domestic surveillance of a US citizen.
Just my advice, but if you guys really want to hang Trump, then you should be demanding a higher quality of investigation.

In the spirit of light hearted tom-foolery, this is how liberals appear in their quest to oust Trump... The mob trying to burn the witch in the Monty Python sketch. (I hope this link goes thru from my phone)
This is a pretty good view from the middle left about the memo, why it's meaningless to most of America, and why the investigation of Russia and Trump will absolutely continue despite whatever Trump and the GOP do.
Nunes came out and said he didn’t even read key documents and just released the memo anyway.
Lmfao. He didn’t even read the FISA warrants, and essentially admitted to just being triggered about the warrants themselves.
What.
A.
Complete.
Joke.
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”
Politicians maybe, but most of us liberals wanted the memo released.
Y’all hyped it up, so we wanted to see what’s up.
Needless to say, it was disappointing.

Disappointing! A political candidate bought and paid for a dossier against her opponent and then used that dossier to get a warrant to spy on a member of that campaign.
Now, remember who that candidate was Hillary Clinton who was caught red handed by emails stealing an election from Bernie Sanders. The DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wassermann Schultz actually resigned her position after being caught fixing the election. The same Clinton who was under suspicion from the FBI for crimes herself. That we also found out that the FBI had no attention to find her guilty.
Where is the outrage over this? All the left cares about is finding evidence that Trump colluded with the Russians or since they cannot prove collusion they turning their attention to obstruction of justice to the firing of James Comey who we are finding out played a large part of this illegal FISA abuses.

it's funny how you trump zealots keep forgetting that the thing was started under a republican.
that right there literally throws a wrench into the entire argument you're TRYING to present.
waste of time lmfao

Something stupid did happen, Dems and Libs tried to pull a fast one and got caught. Take a Memo on that!
got caught doing what? their jobs?
i know doing your job is considered a bad thing in trumplandia, as you guys like to instead dodge drafts, harass underage girls, and not pay contractors.
but in the rest of the world, doing your job is generally considered a good thing.

If their job is to subvert Democracy and our Constitution then they did just fine.
lololololol man you guys are trying way too hard right now.
hey, did you know the FBI had page on their radar as early as 2013? a whole 3 years BEFORE the dossier even was a twinkle in anyones eyes?

I did not realize their job is to hire a foreign ex-spy to gather info on your opponent for President. Then use his bias findings to secure a legal warrant based off of faked facts. Then spy on the other campaign then continue to spy on the President elects newly forming regime.
This kinda job makes Watergate look like a ridiculous non news issues in today's world.

The memo also shows that Trump hired two pro Russian guys in his campaign. One, who is already under indictment.
That got lost in the sauce somehow by the trump cult.

Bro! Belly rolling, I'm laughing so hard at the Trump team trying to keep this alive this weekend and make it a big deal. This is so pathetic, Mueller will have a field day with this snafu! Nunes might have just landed in the ole obstruction hot seat himself on this one! lmao

No it is the FBI/DOJ that is on the wrong side of the law. Nunes is starting phase 2 of his teams investigation.

'That's it?' Comey rips House committee over memo By LOUIS NELSON 02/02/2018 02:15 PM EST
Former FBI Director James Comey lobbed criticism at Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee on Friday, asking his Twitter followers, “That’s it?” after the release of a disputed and much-hyped memo about alleged bias at the FBI and Department of Justice.
Comey suggested that the memo had failed to offer proof of malfeasance while doing significant damage to the intelligence community.
“That’s it? Dishonest and misleading memo wrecked the House intel committee, destroyed trust with Intelligence Community, damaged relationship with FISA court, and inexcusably exposed classified investigation of an American citizen,” Comey tweeted. “For what? DOJ & FBI must keep doing their jobs.”
The memo, written by the staff of the House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) and released on Friday with the blessing of President Donald Trump, contends that the FBI obtained and then renewed surveillance warrants against former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page based on a salacious and unverified dossier of information about the president compiled by a former British intelligence officer, Christopher Steele.
The memo suggests that the bureau and the Justice Department acted improperly in seeking and renewing the warrant against Page because they did not disclose in its documentation seeking the warrant that Steele’s dossier had been funded in part by Hillary Clinton, the Democratic presidential nominee.
It was Comey’s firing from his position as FBI director last year that prompted the appointment of Robert Mueller as special counsel in charge of the Justice Department’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election and allegations that the Trump campaign or individuals connected to it colluded in those efforts. Trump said in an interview days after the firing that he had removed Comey from the bureau with the ongoing Russia investigation weighing on his mind.
