There was a rumor yesterday that a JR deal was almost done ...... but nothing I have seen after.

The new-look Cleveland Cavaliers: LeBron James JR Smith Tristan Thompson Kevin Love Jeff Green Rodney Hood George Hill Jordan Clarkson Larry Nance Jr. Kyle Korver Cedi Osman Jose Calderon Ante Zizic (Open Roster Spot) (Open Roster Spot)
(Open Roster Spot) replacing IT is a pretty good move.

Strong expectation in Cleveland that one of the Cavaliers’ soon-to-open roster spots — barring any more trades — will be filled by Kendrick Perkins https://twitter.com/TheSteinLine/status/961676130880237572Locker room guy.

Happy for Nance Sr. He's a good man and a great dad and this will be pretty sweet for him.
I don't know what it'll mean the Cavs bit Larry's a good dude. Our kids were pals once.

So no IT? I was really getting fed up watching him. Any newcomers who can be bothered to play defense. Hustle is just wanting to outwork your guy. We loaf. A bunch. Get hungry or get lost.

If we're signing Perkins, I would guess that means we're done with trades. That's a move you do to tie off the roster.

I'm told by a Cavs source that GM Koby Altman went to LeBron James before they traded Dwyane Wade to make sure he understood what was behind the move. Altman told James that the decision would be up to Wade and James thought that was fair. Cavs felt it was important to make sure James understood, since Wade is his best friend. http://www.espn.com/espn/now?nowId=21-0753332821329714281-4

Unless we pull off some miracle trade for Jordan, I think that we're content to see who gets bought out, to fill that final roster spot.

can't wait to see Nance here playing with lebron, PNR should be good with him too because he can hit that 15 footer and he's a really fast jumper with a quick gather around the basket, keeps the ball up.

I can't believe we didn't manage to trade for Jordan. Fire them all!

The Cavs got better and younger today. We took on some future money and sent out a pick (and maybe got one back?) but that is ok. The Cavs had to do something-- they were going off the rails.
Just getting rid of IT is a huge addition by subtraction.

word is Lebron and co were pretty impressed today and they didn't think Altman could do much. That bodes well, we have a strong core AND the nets pick to add that stud PG next year

I am thinking back to the beginning of the season, when we had a name who was set to take over basketball operations, and become the GM ..... but it all fell through. Thus, we were "stuck" with Altman.
Sometimes the best deals are the ones not made, and the best hire is the one not made.

Just listened to a tidbit of LA Sports talk on the way to lunch. The consensus seems to be that the trade wasn't all that great (for them). It gives them a shot at double-max contracts this summer, but outside of that they feel like they gave up a lot of youth, athleticism and defense (yes they said defense!) for two guys that probably won't be on the roster next October.
They also said that in order to get two maxes under the cap, they would have to waive Luol Deng through a stretch provision. It would give them instant cap space, but if they DON'T get two max-players like they hope, it would mean 5 years of dead-cap space tied up, so it's somewhat of a risky move.
That's just the Laker trade. I thought the Utah/Sacramento trade was unbelievable. Turned dead-weight on the roster into two legit starters in Hill and Hood?!? Hill is hitting 3 pointers at a 45% clip this year! He can also defend from what I've read. A 3&D Point Guard that doesn't need the ball in his hands all the time?? What is this madness?
But still, I think people would of been happy unloading IT, Rose, Shump and Crowder for a ham sandwich. Instead we got back some legitimate players and youth and it only cost us Channing Frye and a late first round draft pick!

I think that it was a kindness to Wade that we didn't bury him behind the guys we just picked up.
Plus, his wife was happy going back to Miami.

Man, I wonder how IT is going to fit w/all the young guys in LA? That doesn't seem like a good match.
I am most disappointed w/Crowder. I thought he would really help us w/his toughness, 3s, and defense, but he never got it together here. That's too bad.

One more thing to consider: There's rumors about a number of buyouts ... Derrick Favors, Brook Lopez, Corey Brewer, Joakim Noah, Ersan Ilyasova. We could easily pick up one or two of them.
