Hey, bud!

Who's your carrier?
What channel?

I've always preferred CBC's coverage over any US coverage.
It's truly awful now that NBC owns the rights.

Make me a grilled cheese, would ya? wink

George Carlin had a routine years ago stating what qualified as a sport. The main qualifier was the chance for serious injury.

In the world of competition, I'm pretty sure 'sweeping' ranks way down there on the chance of getting injured.

Equestrian sports are legit. Not joking at all. Dressage included.

Did you all see Red Gerard's dad rocking a Browns winter hat as his son won Olympic Gold?

Buckeye Broadband....59 and 625(HD) are channel 9 out of Windsor. We were able to pull it in with our old antenna, also.

Thank you. Dressage is what I used to do. And some jumping.

And equestrian prolly meets Ted's George Carlin injury requirement.

Given that being around horses is inherently dangerous. You don't even have to be riding one to be mangled. (Drove friend to ER when horse broke her nose and all she was doing was standing next to it.)

Red Gerard grew up in Cleveland. His dad, Conrad, was wearing a Browns stocking cap today. And while he was ecstatic his son won a gold medal, the happiest I saw him was when someone showed him that Bernie Kosar had tweeted about Red. "BERNIE KOSAR!?" he said. "Holy ...!"

Watching women’s hockey this morning. Watched USA vs. Finland earlier and now Canada vs. Dopey Russians. These gals are not only good, but tough. Almost a fight in the USA/Finland game when the Finland team took a cheap shot to the face of one of the Americans.

This NBC app is pretty nice, watched some biathlon and a women’s ski jumping training run. No announcers or crowds, just some guy in the background saying the names of the athletes as they made their jumps and the results. It was nice. The feeds aren’t all from USA NBC, some are from Australia also.

banghead banghead banghead

U-Verse isn't allowed to carry CBC.
They can't be broadcast south of the 42 parallel, unless the service is grandfathered in. We used to watch back in the old Buckeye Cable days.

Enjoy, my friend.
(I miss Hockey Night in Canada, too. Is Don Cherry still working it with those loudass suits he always wore?

Chloe Kim is the cutest little Korean/American kid in the world... oh, and she is one bad-arse snowboarder too.. she was toying with the competition in the qualifiers.. the other ladies looked like they were working so hard to score in the 70s and 80s.. Chloe just looks like she's out snowboarding with her friends with a big smile on her face and rocks home a 95...

That young lady is IMPRESSIVE!!!!

Agreed. There is a halfpipe competition in Colorado every December. I've seen Chloe compete in it since she was 14. Amazing seeing here compete with competitors that had multiple olympic medals.

I got to meet her at the event in 2016. Compared to other skiing/snowboard athletes I've met, she is really down to earth. Not caught up in the fame, but like you said, just out there having fun.

Chloe Kim is a beast.. posts a 93.something.. next closest competitor is at 89.something... she secures the gold medal prior to her 3rd run, does it anyway and sticks a 98... un-freaking-believable.

I don't even know that much about snowboarding but you can just tell from watching, even with an untrained eye, she gets more height all the way to the end, hits smoother landings.. it's one of those things that I can't tell you technically what she is doing better but I can just tell she looks head and shoulders better than anybody else.

I loved the interview after when asked why she went for it on her 3rd run when she didn't have to.. her response was that she didn't want to take home a gold medal knowing she hadn't given her best run...

I think I want a pair of the Luge booties, a quick search brought up nothing though.

The men and woman normal ski jumping was fun to watch. Can’t wait for the big hill and the bobsled.

NBC almost impressed me on Monday. I figured in typical nbc fashion, they would tease the womens snowboard final all night and not show the final medal runs until the last 10-15 minutes of the broadcast. They showed all 3 runs right off the bat and showed more than just the Americans. Well done.

Fast forward to mens snowboard and as soon as Shaun White takes his 2nd run, they cut out. I hate that NBC has this contract until 2032.

Those guys land hard when they don't land right. Watching the half pipe is like watching a Hail Mary pass 5 or 6 times in about 20 seconds!

A question was posed by my girlfriend while watching last night. On average, which would hurt more/be more dangerous...falling in a halfpipe jump/trick? Or falling during the freestyle jumps/tricks?
Halfpipe you come down more vertically. Which can cause injuries. Freestyle you’ve got speed mixed in.

It was fun to watch last night, but I was wondering if him dragging and stepping on the flag would become a big deal... apparently it was for some.

And I hadn't known, but I saw he has a sexual harassment lawsuit against him... NBC never mentioned when I was watching. Unfortunately this news made me sad and I'd rather have a better person represent our country no matter how good or bad he might be at the half pipe.

Seems like we just aren't doing as well as we normally do. Our speed skaters suck, and the skiers aren't coming up big either.

Gotta say I'm a bit let-down. I get these guys are doing their best, but I felt like we used to dominate both Olympics.

Now without a quality Men's Hockey Team, I guess all I'm looking forward to is Women's Hockey and whatever Lindsay Vonn and Michaela Schiffer manage to pull off. Maybe one of our female figure skaters can pull something out of nowhere.

But yeah, over-all, by USA Standards, I feel like the squad has dissapointed. Thank god for the Snowboarders
