Howard Wilson is expected to miss the 2018 season following surgery to repair a left patella tear. Missed his entire rookie year after getting hurt in last year's rookie minicamp. https://twitter.com/dan_labbe/status/1006597594418679808

wow, that's quite a rehabilitation
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Sounds like the NFL dream is over for Wilson. He’ll struggle to get back into playing form after two full seasons of injury rehab. My guess is he’ll be waived once he can be, post rehab.

wonder if we look at Alexander or Beal in the supplemental now

Somebody believes something is there. NFL defense can be pretty nuanced. He doesn't have to be an overwhelming prototypical player. He just may be a tough matchup in nickel or some other 'specialty' defensive set.
Sounds like he could be a steal. Nice to be hopeful for a change.

Gambled on a round 4 pick and apparently lost.
If he's out for 2018 now then I cannot possibly see him playing in the NFL.

We have some decent depth in our secondary now. Do we release him or put him on IR?

Didn't we draft a cb a few years ago in later rounds? He was supposed to be a high talent but injured for the season. Can't remember his name. I don't think he is still on th Browns.

I think you mean the guy with a funny name ... something like Ikpre Efre Ornerback-Kay. He was good in college, but blew out his knee in his senior year, or something like that. Browns took a late round flyer on him, but he couldn't overcome the injury.

Don Carey was another one, injured and plucked by another team

Tough break for him. I hope he battles back, but at least he's making a few bucks. I wonder why the surgery now, though? When did he hurt it?
Anyway, good luck Howard! Prove us wrong!

They probably found that the knee was not healing well enough to perform. Probably had continued swelling.
I've had this type of surgery done... He should heal fine.

What's the shelf life like for this case? Two years older after two rehabs for season-ending injuries. Durability becomes a question. What is on the other side of the scale to warrant keeping him? Not a PUP if out for season. Cut him loose and look for him later maybe. His roster slot needs to contribute this season. Might be too mercenary, but can't play now for second year?

No need to just dump the kid. See how he recovers from this surgery he just had. Maybe you get a useful piece for the defense, if his recovery appears to be on track. No need to do anything right now anyway. It was a football injury, so he goes on IR.

Browns claim LB Brady Sheldon http://www.clevelandbrowns.com/news/arti...ef-c6f4bdc197d1The Cleveland Browns have claimed LB Brady Sheldon via waivers from Oakland. To make room on the roster, the team placed DB Howard Wilson (knee) on injured reserve. Sheldon is 6-5, 220 pounds and is entering his second season out of Ferris State. Originally signed by Oakland as an undrafted free agent in 2017, Sheldon appeared in two games last year. In college, he helped KSU to multiple GLIAC Championships and the NCAA Division II playoffs. Sheldon is a native of Novi, Mich. Wilson, a fourth-round draft choice in 2017, missed all of last season with a knee injury.

Hate to see this kid still injured and needing more surgery. Quite frankly I think that is it for his career, possibly can make a career out of being 4th or 5th CB on our team or another. The kid had loads of talent I don't think it will ever be the same and he is missing out on his learning experience. Sorry about this I pray the kid will be well physically and if the NFL is not in his future he has an education to rely on!
