Tax reform continues to gain public support and drive record optimism, even as Washington Democrats still insist it’s all just ”crumbs”:

-“Tax Overhaul Gains Public Support, Buoying Republicans. The tax overhaul that President Trump signed into law now has more supporters than opponents. . . ‘Public opinion is moving in the direction of this bill,’ said Jon Cohen, chief research officer for SurveyMonkey. ‘Considering where it was, it is dramatically different.’” (The New York Times)

-“U.S. Consumer Sentiment Jumps After Tax Cuts Blunt Stock Gyrations. The rise in sentiment, which surpassed the forecasts of all analysts surveyed by Bloomberg, comes as Americans’ paychecks are getting bigger due to the implementation of tax cuts. . .” (Bloomberg)

-“Small-business confidence hits record high in 2018 after Trump tax-reform win. . . . Small-business confidence is surging in 2018 as optimism rises among small-business owners about the newly enacted tax-reform package. . .” (CNBC)

The rise in sentiment, which surpassed the forecasts of all analysts surveyed by Bloomberg, comes as Americans’ paychecks are getting bigger due to the implementation of tax cuts under legislation signed by President Donald Trump in December.

The increase is also consistent with data on solid hiring and rising wages released by the Labor Department earlier this month. Some 35 percent of respondents gave favorable references to government policies, matching January as the highest level in more than a half century, according to the report. Most of the positive news involved changes to tax policies and employment gains, while just 6 percent cited negative references to stock prices.

Small-business confidence hits record high in 2018 after Trump tax-reform win

Small-business confidence is surging in 2018 as optimism rises among small-business owners about the newly enacted tax-reform package, according to the latest CNBC/SurveyMonkey Small Business Survey, released Tuesday.

Let's keep this real here.

Survey Monkey is a website that any random person can use to make up any dumb survey. It isn't scientific. It isn't even a very good survey site.

I know this because I used this site in the past for my business. Before I implemented my own polling system that can actually enforce things such as "You can only vote once".

I would not trust any survey from that site. Or want to believe any "News Source" connected to it.

Sorry.

The CNBC/SurveyMonkey online poll was conducted Jan. 29 through Feb. 5, 2018, among a national sample of 2,080 self-identified small-business owners ages 18 and up, across a wide swath of industries. Respondents were selected from the nearly 3 million people who take surveys on the SurveyMonkey platform each day using its online polling methodology. Responses have a margin of error of +/- 3.5 percentage points.

That doesn't really mean anything.

You can vote multiple times fairly easily.

Thus corrupting the results.

How many russian bots did they choose from their "3 million people who take surveys daily"

All this really means is that they are a business partner in some aspect.

Bad News For Dems: The GOP Tax Cuts Are Getting More Popular By The Day

The Republican tax reforms are growing increasingly popular as people start to realize the benefits. For Democrats who unanimously opposed these tax cuts, this can't be good news.

This week, Home Depot (HD), Starbucks (SBUX) and Walt Disney (DIS) announced that they were handing out bonuses or raises — or both — as a direct result of the GOP's tax cut.

Home Depot is giving hundreds of thousands of hourly employees what it calls "tax reform bonuses" of up to $1,000. Starbucks is lavishing $250 million in pay raises and stock grants on 150,000 workers, also crediting the tax cuts. At Disney, 125,000 workers are getting a $1,000 bonus, and the company is investing another $50 million in employee education programs.

These companies join more than 240 others — many of them household names like Apple (AAPL), Wal-Mart (WMT), AT&T (T), Auto Nation (AN), Boeing (BA), Comcast (CMCSA), Southwest Airlines (LUV) and Verizon (VZ) — that have already done so, putting more money in the pockets of at least 3 million workers.

This string of tax-cut-related good news is just beginning.

I'll be worse off by about $2100 if H&R Block's tax calculator calculator is correct.

I assume it is close, because it was was pretty spot on for the taxes I just filed.

There are also a lot of companies giving their employees nice bonuses; Wal-Mart, Lowes, Smuckers, among others. Put an extra $2000 or so (tax cut and bonus) in the pocket of someone making $20,000, and that's a nice increase.

Australia's Malcolm Turnbull likes President Trump's tax cuts:

complimenting Trump’s tax decision to cut taxes, calling it “one of the most powerful arguments” he is using to persuade lawmakers to cut business taxes back home.

Sure guys.

Go ahead and brag about your tax cuts.

But there’s another side of the coin.

My monthly vacation/booze entitlement was cut by 5%.

Now how am I supposed to make ends meet?

Our president is a racist game show host who wears a wig that makes him look like a clown and who is so dumb that his reaction to a school shooting was "we should put ratings on movies so young kids can't see violent movies".

Of course the world is laughing at us.

I'm glad to see so many on the right are happy with their scraps. Over a trillion dollars in wealth shifts to the top and you guys are doing backflips over a few extra dollars in your check or a few thousand.

I don't think you remember that this tax bill gutted Obamacare and that will inevitably drive up the costs of your healthcare. Add in the passed on cost of these so called bonuses and raises, the inflation that is coming for sure, and a rate increase at the fed... We'll be lucky if we get to keep the scraps handed out.

Adding salt to the wound, YOUR tax relief is temporary. The tax cuts for the elite and big business is permanent.

I'm still waiting for my $600 bucks I asked Portland to send to me. He said it didn't mean anything to him.

No, that’s how you chose to frame what I said so you could argue.
What I said is, for me, $600 is not life changing or budget altering. I’d say that for most middle class people, living within their means, it would not be ‘life altering’. Welcome of course, but not budget altering.
Would I turn it down? No, of course not. But it’s not paying off my mortgage, or my car. It’ll just get absorbed into my savings account. It’s not enough for a vacation. For those with kids I’m not sure you could take a family of 4 into Disney for the day for that much.
Personally, could I fly to Hawaii with it? Yes, but I can do that now. And $600 would only get me there. Not cover the cost of anything once there. So if one weren’t planning Hawaii before the $600, it likely wouldn’t change that outlook.
What I’m saying is it’s $50 a month. It’s not life altering. I never said it was nothing.
Personally I’d have no problem returning it if I knew that my, my parent’s, my sibling’s, your family’s, GM’s, etc healthcare needs were taken care of through a single payer system.
See I don’t see taxes as a problem. They’re the price of a civilized society. What I have a bigger problem with is what our government chooses to spend that money on currently. Because it isn’t you and me. Our military budget is bloated beyond need. Meanwhile our infrastructure crumbles and our healthcare cost skyrocket out of control. That $600 is barely a dent in my $5000 deductible.
Just look at the corporate tax cuts to see where congress’ loyalty lies.
$600? Meh. That’s ‘couch cushion’ chump change compared to the tax cut the 1% and the corporate rulers got.

Market summary > Berkshire Hathaway Inc. Class A
NYSE: BRK.A - Feb 23, 4:40 PM EST
$304,020.00USDPrice increase $2,616.00 (0.87%)

You must be dreaming of some Socialist Future.

Or perhaps you didn't realize there is a class A and class B for Berkshire.
The primary difference between Berkshire Hathaway's Class A stock (BRK-A) and Class B stock (BRK-B) is the share price. As of January 2018, Berkshire Hathaway Class A is trading for around $304,180 a share versus $202 for the Class B shares.
