"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

T.J. Zuppe Verified account @TJZuppe Other Indians moves and decisions: - Optioned: Taylor, G. Allen - Re-assigned: Ogando - Talked to Torres/Belisle. Informed them decision coming Saturday - Urshela likely to DL. Gonzalez likely on OD roster - Naquin/Refsnyder informed to "hang in there." No decision made yet.
T.J. Zuppe Verified account @TJZuppe - Marshall and Beliveau informed not making roster but will remain in MLB camp - They will talk with Merritt tomorrow about his fate. Still working through size of bench/pen - Napoli will be released today, re-signed tomorrow to minor league deal. Will then decide what's next
The Indians have to cut Napoli, or they would owe him a roster bonus of some sort. They are then bringing him back on a minor league deal. (at least for now)

Indians to place Ryan Merritt on disabled list to start season, bringing pitching staff into further focus Published: March 23, 2018 - 8:29 PM
By Ryan Lewis Beacon Journal/Ohio.com
The Indians know Ryan Merritt has been trying to compete for a spot in the starting rotation, or at least the bullpen, this spring, but it hasn’t gone like he had planned.
The Indians knew Merritt had dealt with a sore left knee all winter, but he hadn’t mentioned it much this spring while vying for a roster spot. He tried to pitch through it but struggled, getting knocked around to the tune of a 9.31 ERA in five appearances.
Merritt was never quite right, and he’s now heading to the disabled list to start the regular season, according to Indians manager Terry Francona.
“We grabbed him a couple of days ago and said, ‘Level with us. We know you’re competing,’” Francona said. “And he admitted that he’s way behind and that because of his knee, he had to kind of shortcut it for the long-toss program. … I think he just had a tired arm, but I think it’s because of his knee.”
Merritt was in somewhat of a precarious position anyway, at least as it pertains to the Indians, as a pitcher competing for a spot with more established veterans but also one who was out of options. His inclusion onto the disabled list delays a tough decision, as it was appearing as though either he transitions to the bullpen — assuming Josh Tomlin had the fifth spot in the rotation — or he’d need to be traded or exposed to waivers.
“We’re going to get that knee good and strong and get that arm good and strong, and then when he’s ready to be himself, then we have to make a decision, where does he fit, but I think in fairness to him, it’s the best way [to go],” Francona said. “And I think he completely agreed. I think when he finally took a deep breath and thought about it, he thought this was the right thing.”
Merritt’s move to the DL brings further clarity to the Indians’ pitching staff to start the season. Francona earlier this spring had said Danny Salazar wouldn’t be ready for Opening Day. He added on Friday that Salazar will be staying in Arizona after spring training breaks to continue his rehab work from shoulder inflammation. It was mostly a foregone conclusion already, but that leaves Tomlin as the fifth starting pitcher along with Corey Kluber, Carlos Carrasco, Trevor Bauer and Mike Clevinger.
Thus, two question remain regarding the Opening Day roster. This move brings the competition for the seventh spot in the bullpen down to non-roster invitees Matt Belisle and Carlos Torres. The last question, for the 25th spot, is between the other aforementioned pitcher making it as an eighth reliever or the Indians taking either Tyler Naquin or Rob Refsnyder as the fourth player on the bench.
I just popped over to the Indians' message board and saw this:

So MLB teams will no longer maintain message boards. Its not like Indians.com MB was a very lively board, but it had 5-6 posters that I liked reading, and quite a few ignoramuses who added nothing much, but it was fun watching them get slapped around. I guess its no great loss, but I'll miss it after a big win, or a trade, or anything of any importance happens with the Indians.
Anybody know of any Indians' message boards? I check out "Indians Insider" every now and then, but it's run by Scout.com/247Sports and it never fails to clog - and sometimes paralyze - my browser.
Oh well, guess I'll have to make the Tailgate my official unofficial Indians' MB.
Sorry Dave , can't help ya .. I have enough trouble not letting my fingers get into trouble on this board , lol ! I just stay up to date on the Indians official site ..
Kluber gets the nod for opening day ; Well there is a surprise !
Speaking of the Indians, I turned on the game today, and Elvis Andrus came up to bat. I thought to myself "this guy KILLS us", and he immediately hit a 2-run HR over the left field wall off Kluber. When it gets to be the regular season, I think we should just hit him with the pitch. Don't even waste the other 3 pitches to walk him, just plunk him in the butt.

Miller has been someone who's come on strong as the year progresses, at least that was his reputation in NY

I don't worry about players, especially pitchers who have a slow start. No need to worry until we get towards Memorial Day and the guy is still having problems.
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.
Same thing happened with EE last year, started out like molasses. But he came around just fine..lol. I'm excited for this year. Get some players back, made some prudent FA signings, Tito looks to be in better health. Should be a fun season
Tomorrow is the most important thing in life. Comes into us at midnight very clean. It's perfect when it arrives and it puts itself in our hands. It hopes we've learned something from yesterday. -John Wayne
Albert Belle arrested on DUI, indecent exposure charges
Former MLB All-Star Albert Belle was arrested Sunday on charges of indecent exposure and driving under the influence in Scottsdale, Arizona, according to jail records.
The Maricopa Sheriff's Office booked Belle, 51, on two counts of indecent exposure, one count of DUI for a liquor/drugs/vapor/combo and one count of DUI with a blood alcohol content of at least .08.
Belle was a five-time All-Star who played for the Cleveland Indians, Chicago White Sox and Baltimore Orioles from 1989 to 2000. He led the American League in RBIs three times and hit a league-leading and career-high 50 homers in 1995.
Belle finished his career with a .295 batting average and 381 home runs.
Controversy has followed Belle over the years. He was caught with a corked bat in 1994. In 1997, he settled a class action suit after he was accused of chasing kids with his car and bumping one after they egged his house. He was sentenced to 90 days in jail and five years' probation in 2006 after he admitted to stalking his former girlfriend.
The thing I don't get is that people protest Chief Wahoo, but I have never heard a peep out of anyone protesting a big purple thing wearing an Indians uniform.

Is this a joke?
It was a joke.
Kinda.
I find the big purple thing to be rather offensive.
