I like this a lot more than the Landry deal. Haha, I'm the opposite. I understand the Landry deal even though I think he is overrated. I don't get giving up a 65th pick for TT.
At DT, context and meaning are a scarecrow kicking at moving goalposts.

Did we really just give up a second round pick for Tyrold Taylor?
The Bills are definitely a trade up candidate at this point.

I think the compensation seems high but we have the picks to get the guys we want. I like Tyrod as a bridge to the rookie. TT doesn’t turn the ball over. I think that’s the type of veteran Dorsey wants. It’s why he went and got Smith in KC.

This makes me think we target rookie QB in the second or later, if at all.

I think that as a bridge, Taylor is fine. Not my first choice but better than several of the names we've been linked to. (Dam, ended a sentence with a preposition.)

I watched him a lot last season. My takes: Not a great downfield passer. Fairly accurate, is quick with decisions and can run. Protects the football.

Tyrod Taylor in 2017
15th in league accuracy. 16th in rating. 25th in passing yards. 30th in passing yards / game.
14 touchdowns and 4 interceptions.
Definitely seems like a game manager and a bridge QB.

This is one of the happier days I've had as a Browns fan in a long time. Keep the moves coming, nice to see this front office doesn't over value draft picks and isn't scared to make a few shrewd moves.
A breath of fresh air.

This is from the Jarvis Landry thread. I think Rapoport knew (obviously).

This makes me think we target rookie QB in the second or later, if at all. Taylor is a quite simply,a stop gap,a bit better than average. his signing will have zero effect on the drafting of a QB.
Indecision may,or maynot,be my problem

Just a question. It would seem to make sense to have similar style qbs at starter and backup. The thought would be that the offense would not change much if the starter goes down. Does this move give any indication whom we might draft? Mayfield at #4. Just a guess

I can't stand this move. Would have much rather had Mccarron. Taylor is a conservative qb. Caption checkdown

I like the move. I like it very much to be honest.
TT is barely 6'1". So much for Dorsey wanting height......is a Baker on the horizon?? Baker and TT are pretty much the same height.
A shorter QB to mentor another shorter QB??? Makes sense to me.
TT can show Baker how to move and find the lanes.

Per source, the Bills and Browns have agreed to finalize the Tyrod Taylor deal before his roster bonus is due. So the Browns are on the hook for that $6 million, and his $10 million base. https://twitter.com/AlbertBreer/status/972255206523260928

Browns strike again. This time, Cleveland agrees to trade a mid-round draft pick to Buffalo for QB Tyrod Taylor, source tells ESPN. Taylor now will throw to new Browns’ WR Jarvis Landry. And Buffalo back in QB market. More on SportsCenter now. https://twitter.com/AdamSchefter/status/972245838545252352 Well, we could still sign a FA QB, go QB at 1 or 4 and end up with 4 in camp. FA QB Draft pick Tyrod T Deshaun K Could be a sign all 3 of last years QB'S are destined for "THE JERSEY". You know, the COUCH, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc...jersey. Dunno.

Clicking.
I don't think TT's height means we'll draft a similar-statured QB.

We will not get a QB in FA. We will still draft one high.

Taylor is underated. Give him a running game and he will be fine. He doesn't turn it over. He didn't get any respect in Buffalo. They may wish they had him back next year.
I just want a winner. We need players who can be part of the solution not part of the problem.

18 months. Who stays in Cleveland longer than 18 months anyways.
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

Taylor is a lot like Alex Smith and Dorsey traded for Smith at KC. This is a great point. Underrated guy... not really on anyone's radar. Good observation.

I can't stand this move. Would have much rather had Mccarron. Taylor is a conservative qb. Caption checkdown So we went from losing games because a rookie QB was a turnover machine to having a Vet who doesn't turn the ball over much .... hmmm. I don't see the downside. Were there better options out there? Sure. Did those better options want to sign for the Browns and wait 6-8-16-20 games before being yanked for the heir apparent once the Browns take a QB at #1 or #4? .... I doubt it. I'm more than happy with Tyrod. I think he's going to play well for Hue and with Gordon, Landry, Coleman and company I think we're going to see a much better O.

Tyler had: 4 fumbles in 2017 ... Ok add his 4 Int's to that giving him 8 TO's meanwhile in Cleveland Kizer had 22 TO's ...

I'm glad we got a vet, and I really really hope that this means we're drafting a QB at #1...
but I can't help but be a little disappointed that it's Taylor. I mean, I'm one of the people that was talking about grabbing him during last offseason... but in this year's QB-rich offseason, we got the media talking about Drew Brees listening to offers and who's gonna pay Kirk Cousins when we've got all the money... and we're over there swinging a deal for Tyrod Taylor? :-\
Meh...

Also seen a decent point on Twitter - every chance that we get our rookie, develop him, let Taylor walk to a team in need of a QB, and his efficient play could potentially earn a 3rd or 4th compensation pick. Over time, this trade could be really damn cheap if it all works out.
