I see, when all else fails then fabricate.

What I and the other dozen or so people have been saying this entire time is that Hue had a say on taking Wentz and Hue didn't want him at #2. His Buddy backs that up. If Hue wanted him at #2, we would have taken him at #2. Hue really liked Goff, but he was gone. Hue liked RG3, we got him. Kessler, and we got him higher than he should have been drafted. Kizer, we got him.

Your argument that Sashi didn't get Wentz for Hue doesn't hold water. Hue didn't want Wentz. You already admit that Hue had a say and it's already been shown that Hue didn't like Wentz at #2. Your house of cards argument has fallen sport, and the only question left is whether or not you can count to 52 to make sure that you pick them all up.

So Hue was responsible for Sashi not picking Wentz? So you're saying Hue was the one who made the draft picks?

Sashi has set us up to be in a good position to succeed. He did his job, and it's the job he told us he was going to do when he was hired. It was a five year plan and we are on track to finish the plan now.

Not unless it's actually your responsibility to make those decisions.

Looks like Hue was punked.....Dorsey isn't listening to him. Neither would I.

Just go to the corner Hue and be quiet.

"It matters because we play in a division where all of a sudden there’s rain, there’s snow and it’s different,” Jackson said on Wednesday. “I think guys that have big hands can grip the ball better in those environmental situations and so we’ll look for a guy that fits what we’re looking for in a quarterback.”

The Browns own the second pick in the draft, and we all know that they are taking a passer.

Chalk up a point for North Dakota State’s Carson Wentz, who might also be the first quarterback drafted, with his huge, 10-inch hands.

Not so fast. Listen to Sashi Brown, who in his new role as executive vice president for football operations actually has the final say on the Browns’ decision.

On Thursday, Brown downplayed the hand-size factor.

“If a guy can throw a ball in college, he can throw a ball in the pros,” Brown told a small group of reporters at Lucas Oil Stadium.

He pointed to Minnesota Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater as an example, and said that it’s important not to get distracted during the evaluation process.

Sashi Brown’s plan wasn’t to acquire draft picks and cap space and lose forever. It was to set the ORGANIZATION up to do stuff like THIS in THIS PARTICULAR OFF-SEASON, one he & Haslam have been pointing to since plan started. Its that work that put them in this great position

This is the pick #Browns acquired for P Andy Lee in trade with #Panthers. Lee is now with the #Cardinals. So CLE wound up getting Jarvis Landry for Andy Lee and a 2019 7th-rounder.

Sashi Brown’s cap space, draft picks made Browns’ trades possible

Browns fans celebrating the team’s flurry of trades should thank the man who was run out of town last year: Sashi Brown.

Brown was the General Manager who has been lambasted for building the Cleveland roster that went 1-31 the last two years. He was fired for the team’s failures, and particularly for trading away the draft picks that became Carson Wentz and Deshaun Watson.

But Brown’s strategy was always about building for the future, not about winning in 2016 and 2017. And Brown is the one who left the Browns with the most cap space in the NFL, and the most draft capital in the NFL. Having extra cap space and draft picks is why the Browns were able to trade for quarterback Tyrod Taylor, wide receiver Jarvis Landry and cornerback Damarious Randall.

Browns owner Jimmy Haslam was on board with Brown’s long-term approach, until one day last year he decided he wasn’t, and fired him. Haslam replaced Brown with John Dorsey, who is now drawing praise for this week’s trades.

Dorsey, however, should be thanking Brown. Dorsey inherited a bad team, but he inherited a good situation: No G.M. in the NFL has more cap space and draft picks than Dorsey, all because of the way Brown spent the last two years building for the future.

Somewhat more convoluted than that, but seemingly true. Or, did someone make up Jimmy's mind for him? flamingmad

I hate to rehash everything - but that article and the idea that Jimmy was throwing his toys out of his pram in 2017 are a stretch or at least an opinion without any facts to support them that I know of..... I am truly hoping Haslam has realized that he needs to leave football operations the hell alone ....

My recollection of what led to Sashi being fired --> After the bye week in which Hue had discussed and arranged for a trade for AJ .... Sashi failed to complete the deal. This was followed by the first public indication of angst and conflict within the FO - there was various airings of ill will through Hue's daughter's tweeter or FB account and Hue friendly reporters commenting on what happened ... the bottom line was it was apparent there was a giant fissure between Hue and Sashi. One of them was going to have to leave. To me that is not Jimmy losing patience and being a child...... Blame Haslam for creating the structure (the same one we have today) that creates the potential for this same scenario to keep materializing .... but don't say he's knee jerking when up to that point and through a massive series of losing, he was sticking to the course. jmo

The article in the athletic was very telling. Jimmy listens to anyone he thinks is an expert. Things were going well until we still hadn't won a game the first half of the season. Jimmy assumed the plan was failing despite reassurance from Sashi that things were on track and we needed patience. The rift between Sashi and Hue was probably real. A move was necessary and Jimmy sided with Hue. Now it's on Hue to win some games.

Google the athletic and Jimmy Haslam. It should pop up as the #1 article. Fun read, kinda, and explains a lot. I have hope for Jimmy and the Browns after reading it.

So Jimmy was incapable of getting his employees to play nice together? There must have been a lot of 'emotion' ( willynilly) involved and backroom politics going on...

I'm currently not on my computer so I couldn't post the link as it kept sending me to the app. But that's it.

I paid for the service just to read the article. I got from the article Jimmy doesn't know what he's doing but he's trying. It takes time to learn, so I'm hopeful he'll figure it out. Eventually.

The organization (FO-coaching staff-players) will be vastly different this coming season so any comparison between Hue's performance last season versus this year would be apples-to-oranges...
