Nicely done, for sure. I could hear the ("slow-build") architecture Decent mixing/soundscaping.
Wow. I learned something new tonight.
The internet still freaks me out regularly. Someone in the Atlanta area just posted a soundclip of something I never even imagined might exist... and even though it's brand new, it reminds me of other stuff I haven't heard in 30 years or so.
I love street musicians. YouTube allows you to fall into the rabbit hole and find street performers from all over the world. Here’s two of my favorite.
Zaz... I can’t speak a word of French but I can’t take my eyes off her.

There is, or was, a street musician in Portland who plays a cello. But, not just a cello, he has a looping pedal where it records and then he can loop it through an amp and play live over the recorded loops allowing for multiple layers and textures. It is absolutely brilliant. He could also utilize other guitar pedals to distort the signal which added even more textures. He used to always be at First Thursday in the Pearl, super long hair...grubby clothes and a beat up cello with duck tape all over it. Sometimes he would have a female singer too. Man, he was superb. That said, I haven't seen him around town for quite a while. Last time was before the art school moved from NW13th & Johnson down to Broadway and Hoyt. So, that is going back a few years now. Maybe he hangs out at Saturday Market and plays for the kids and tourists who go there? I very rarely ever pop down to the Market these days. Sadly, I suspect he may have been edged out due to the ever increasing rents.
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”
kind of a different song... Jerusalem of Gold, written in 1967 around the time of the 6-day war. Our family went on a vacation to Europe and Israel in summer 1968 and they played this song on our tour bus as we entered Jerusalem. song link
when i'm feeling down, i admitted run to Enya. this song is just....make it hits my soul. i can't explain it. i love it and i can't imagine life without knowing this song:
yea, it's Enya.
absolutely beautiful - thank you for sharing that.
It’s Chali 2na from Jurassic 5. He’s working with DJs and calling themselves the Funk Hunters. They play EDM type festivals and blow it up. If you have SoundCloud give this a try. It’s an entire set from a festival in western Canada called Shambala. If you like funk...
I got my looping station about 3-4 years ago. Work consumes so much of my time, I'm too exhausted to pull it out for playtime/experimenting when I get some down time.
Nonetheless, I've put together a short set list that includes:
Beatles: Come Together (Funk version with popped/snapped bass line) 3 voices Roberta Flack: 'Killing Me Softly' 3 voices Joni Mitchell: Dry 'Cleaner From Des Moines' 4 voices an original 4-chord loopjam in b minor (7/4 time) called 'Rising/Falling' 3 voices O-Jays: 'For The Love of Money' 3 voices
... and a non-looped cover of The Police: 'Walking on the Moon.' On this cover, I play Sting's bass line totally in the left hand (plucked and hammered-down), while I simultaneously play Stewart Copland's drum fills on the body of the instrument and sing the melody. I may have to add a loop track of Andy Summers' rhythm guitar line to flesh out the final sound, because I kind of have my hands full with the bass and drumming.
I've played perhaps a half-dozen dates since I bought the JamMan XT, but none of them were ever captured for posterity.
Maybe this summer, I'll work them up and post them to YouTube or somewhere.
cello + looping station = multiple coolness.
In a conductor's score, the designation for cello is vcl: an abbreviation of its proper name "violoncello" (VEE-O-lonchello). When I loop, I go by the initials "VCL" (the Virtual Cello Legion).

Speaking of Enya, her signature song is very nice too.

Got to see RHCP in 1992. Great show. A ton of energy. Fun trippy stage design. They all came out with their hardhats on fire. Rowdy.
1992 was probably their creative peak. Album wise, "Blood Sugar Sex Magic" most certainly was their pinnacle. Great tunes, great lyrics and their musicianship just seemed to all come together seamlessly on that album. Before "BSSM" they had some good punky, funky tunes but the albums were inconsistent. After "BSSM" they seemed to be trying far too hard to recreate that album over and over again. I spent the summer of '92 working in the Poconos and we would go to a tiny local bar on our nights off to drink cheap beer, play pool and listen to the jukebox. "BSSM" was one of the highlights of that summer and it will forever take me back to that hot, humid summer in the rural mountains of PA.

BSSM is definitely their best album, IMO. It's actually fun to listen to.

There’s a great documentary about them making that album. It’s called Funky Monks. Very good watch. So much behind the scenes stuff of them sequestered away in a big mansion/studio making music and having s good time.
A couple songs that you may like. Primarily female leads with electronic, not necessity trip hop, backing. Both produced by a DJ that goes by The Polish Ambassador. Swish you’ll likely dig these too. I may have already shared the song, Kumite, with you.
Something different. Something with a little world flavor. I don’t speak the language but I know a sexy song when I hear it. I have a coworker that does speak the language, listen with me. Basically the singer is saying how much she loves to be with her man. How she feels sexy and dangerous when he’s near her. Without speaking the language you can hear it in her voice. A little Latin electro swing music for all your ears. Enjoy...
2 members of the rock band "Hardline" have joined forces once again, as Gioeli Castronovo. (after 19 years)
Those who like Journey (maybe a little harder) and such should enjoy their debut (kinda) effort. I am so glad to see that Dean cleaned up his life, and straightened himself out. He's a talented guy.
