Joe should have already decided on his future. He is putting himself above the team. My guess is he retires. My guess is, he and the team both know what he is going to do and the silence is because some how it’s benefiting the team. It would be a bad thing for agents/players to feel the Browns are desperate for a LT. Kinda gives the all the leverage. Again, the Browns don't sign Solder unless Joe is gone.

Wouldn't a player like Nate Solder assume that, because he has never played any other position besides left tackle, if the Browns are seriously negotiating with him, Joe Thomas is not coming back?

We might draft one early as insurance, but we wouldn't sign on at 14-15 mil a year this year.

Get on with it if your done already... The fact that nothing has been announced leads me to believe that the people who need to know, know Joe's decision. We just don't know.

Any chance that Solder is holding out on Joe's decision?

I was rather disappointed today with Joe T making twitter comments about Richard Sherman's money/deal.
As if it's your place to make a comment.
Don't be running your mouth dude.

Don't be running your mouth dude. Joe Thomas is a media person now. That's not running of mouths, that's analysis.

I love him too. I am just saying it is getting a little late in the process, don't ya think?
We have to move on no matter what he does. Stalling now doesn't help the team.

Don't be running your mouth dude. I have no problem with Joe Thomas saying whatever he wants about Richard Sherman. Cause I don't like Sherman. He's a big mouth who runs his mouth all the time.

Thomas said he would let the Browns know his decision before FA started... well its essentially started.. so if I'm Dorsey, I'm acting like Thomas is retiring. I'm doing whatever I can to get Solder.

I bet Joe's already let the team know which way he's leaning. He's probably saving the news for his own podcast

IMO, Thomas is waiting to see if they can sign Solder. If they do, I think he's gone. If they can't, I believe he will be back. The guy has to be craving going out in a winning fashion. And I believe Dorsey is in win now mode. The table has been set, produce a winning roster.

Obviously I'm not, but if I were JT I'd come back for one more year with this roster ... try to go out in a better place than last season
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

I believe that Joe has already given his decision to the FO, it's really the only thing that makes sense at this point IMO.

Interesting quote from Joe Thomas tonight, at the Positive Coaching Alliance's Cleveland youth sports award dinner and fundraiser. "For me as a player and for you guys as fans, it's a great time to be a Cleveland Brown." That sounds positive. (I hope) He didn't say "as a former player". Joe Thomas says his decision is 'right around the corner' as Browns continue to pursue Nate Solder | cleveland.com http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2018/03/joe_thomas_1.html#incart_big-photo

I’ve gone back and forth on guessing Joe Thomas’ decision. Tonight, he looked heavier than the last time I spoke to him and his “it’s a great time to be a Cleveland Brown” comment was interesting. https://twitter.com/twithersAP/status/973746829442584578

Was thinking about this. Do you thin Joe might have told them he's leaning toward retiring hoping to see if they can land an LT in FA?

In the interview Joe said he was keeping the Browns updated, so that is a good thing. It just didn't sound like Joe to keep us hanging.
If we like Solder, sign him even if Joe comes back. If Joe plays at all, it will be one last year. I doubt he signs for anything else.

Ian Rapoport tweeted that it sounds like Solder will be joining either the Giants or Texans today.
I really, really hope Thomas doesn't retire.

I really, really hope Thomas doesn't retire. makes sense to me. Either way it wouldn't be a good deal for Solder. Joe doesn't retire and he has to move to another position, or Joe retires and he has to be the guy to fill a legends shoes.

The only thing that makes sense is that Joe is not retiring, and that the Browns know it. Otherwise, I would be forced to believe that by delaying his decision by 1-2 days, he prevented us from going all out in signing a viable free agent replacement for him. In other words, it would mean he hosed us, and I really don't want to think that.

I don't know. If he is retiring, maybe he waited a bit long, but i read where he has been in contact with the team..
If he is retiring, the team is fairly busy right now. I also think they would want to set up a proper press conference at the facility. Announcing on Saturday would make the Sunday paper and Sunday news cycle...

I really don’t think Dorsey wants a player that isn’t 100% in anyway. I don’t think anyone should. Thanks for everything Joe, hope you have a great career in TV. Maybe, but this is afterall, Joe Thomas.. This is a stud Tackle... I'd think that if Joe wants to return, Dorsey would say, great... Let me know when you are physically ready to start.
