It seems like there have been more cuts than usual at this point in the off-season.

The ones off the top of my head are Tavon Austin, Brian Cushing, Doug Martin, Josh Sitton, Jerrell Freeman, and Darrelle Revis.

The only one of the above names I would even have a small amount of interest in is Tavon Austin. I think he was totally miscast with the Rams and then last year he got buried once the Rams added more quality players.

Bucs released DT Chris Baker.

Baker signed a "three-year, $15.75 million" contract last March but was a huge disappointment his first year in Tampa. The Tampa Bay Times reported in December that both teammates and coaches had questioned Baker's effort. Baker faced similar questions with the Redskins. His entire $4.875 million cap hit comes off the books. Baker, who notched 0.5 sacks in 15 games in 2017, turns 31 in October.

I was only a Chris Ivory fan in DFS when the lead back went down. He'd get the bulk of carries AND play the third down receiving back. Those situations were few and far between but injuries will always be an issue, especially for the RB position. I'm guessing he'll find a similar role at 29 w/ limited carries.

At DT, context and meaning are a scarecrow kicking at moving goalposts.

he actually did well with opportunities last season IIRC

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

Ivory is a decent back and will add something to a vet team. I could see the Pats signing him.

I think Ivory is a pretty good back. He runs hard and can catch it.

Ivory is a back that needs to be constantly given the ball. He's a rythem kind of back
The more touches the better he gets
Once he squares his shoulders and and gets a head of steam he's effective

in other words, he'd be awful in Hue's 2-touch-per-half system

Thankfully, Hue isn't in charge of that anymore.

I have heard rumblings that we might look at another DT in FA or the draft to put next to Shelton, and if we did I wouldn't mind this guy, but I think we are pretty Solid at DT with Shelton, Coley, Ogunjobi, Brantley and Meder ...
superconfused

Btw is that GM still there?
Just about as smart as giving the Browns your 2nd round pick to fake your high priced QB you signed the previous season...

We haven't been a whole lot smarter, though. That's the problem.

#Seahawks CB Richard Sherman has told teammates goodbye over the past 24 hours, sources say, and that he won’t be on the team. Those close to him say nothing is set in stone and there has been no official word. But clearly bears watching.

Well, the small thought of them cutting Earl Thomas seems even more far fetched now. If Bennett, Sherman AND Thomas went, that fan base would probably set the city of fire having Lynch retire and come back to a different team recently as' well.

There has been nothing linking us to him, but we have been in the market for a veteran edge defender.

I imagine us signing that guy from Cincy makes this improbable. Is Vinny Curry good? Looks like (stats-wise) he hasn't done much in awhile

You might be looking at the wrong Curry... because he dominated last year. He's a stellar 4-3 end and I'd LOVE to have him!

Philly wanted him to take a pay cut but then got Bennett so, it's not shocking he was released. CALL HIS AGENT, JOHN!

*EDIT*
http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/7531/vinny-curry

Quote:
Curry probably saw the writing on the wall after Philadelphia acquired Michael Bennett from Seattle earlier this month. The 29-year-old dominated last year, earning PFF's No. 10 grade among 4-3 defensive ends. He should attract widespread interest on the open market.

I would take Curry in a heartbeat even if its a short term gig...We lack any rush when Myles and Ogbah are out...Vinny would be great to supplant a rush in the rotation.

If he's good, you know i'm down.

A lot of folks liked him coming out of college. I remembered his highlight video was impressive.

Smaller school guy vs lesser competition and not that athletic were the questions

He didn't have a lot of sacks, but he was constantly pressuring the QB, and also played the run well.

Verse, what I gathered through Rotoworld was that Curry and the team were miles apart on a restructure, so they had to let him go...But he will be big on the market...Imagine him rotating in with Myles and Ogbah...We wouldnt miss a lick when they are rested or injured lol

Not sure where to put this, but I can't make logical reason out of this:

Crowell being released in the off season, Hyde brought in, but Hyde didn't beat Crowell out in camp, and if Hue is doing everything to help this team, Crowell was not benched or even did they spend more time giving Dayes a chance the past year and everyone knows the W-L record.

And Dayes most playing time came in week one, and he looked ok out there.

Because if Crowell was good enough to not give Dayes more of an opportunity, then he should have been good enough to force someone to beat him out in camp.

And if Crowell was not good enough that Hyde shouldn't have to beat him out in camp, then Dayes should have been given a chance, maybe some starts, in 2017.

Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.
