Mora was on Path to the Draft.

Basically to talk about Rosen who he has known since he was fourteen. He explained how at first Rosen didn't think about the impact his words may have and how much he has grown since then.

He went on to talk about how he admires the man Rosen has become.

He also cautioned that unless he goes the extra mile he will not go from good to great. Stay late. Study more film. Do the things that made Brady, Brady. When Mora was asked how will he do in the pros? He said it all up to him. He needs to be with the right coaches.

That put me off some. I don't think a NFL coaching staff should make a difference to a great player. Great players will overcome. They will become great because they will do what it takes to be great.

Maybe I am reading to much into what was said. I don't know but what he said struck me wrong.

I am a big Rosen fan but I still have Darnold ahead.

Interesting take. As you sort of said, it's up to all of these guys (and any QB, period) to become great.

No one, at the QB Position, in the NFL can just walk in, go through the motions and become great.

That's the difference between the best ones and the others. The best QBs work their tails off.

Interesting take on having the right coaching staff. Hard for us to really figure out if there's much to look into there, or if he's merely referring to something that applies to any QB.

I'm sure we'll do our due diligence as an organization and figure it out though

I saw he Mora interview and the comment about the right coaching concerned me too. I love watching Rosen and think he's going to light it up. Clearly the best passer. I just can't be sure he'll be in the league in five years or if he can stay on the field. Too much at stake. I'm with you, I have to go Darnold if I'm the GM.

I would disagree with this to some extent.
Look at Joe Montana and Terry Bradshaw.
Both Great players and HOFers

But what would have happened if you had put Bradshaw into the 49ers timing and precision offense and Montana into the Steelers big armed passing game offense

I don't think either would be in the HOF right now

They were both on great teams.

Montana went on to play great at KC.

Teams for the part adapt to the strengths of their quarterbacks.

So to me they both would have succeeded. However, Super Bowls are the result of great teams.

The discussion of player/coaching matches reminded me of something Cowherd said awhile back (before the Browns hired Haley.) He was talking about Rosen's questioning his coaches, that Rosen wants to understand the whys behind every nuance of every play. He mentioned Haley specifically as being a coach with whom that will cause friction. Isn't not getting along with Roethlisberger a large part of why Haley was released from the Steelers? I'm not saying this should be the deciding factor, but it could be a factor. How would Rosen and Haley get along?

A good coach will
A bad coach would had tried to make Montana throw a bunch of boms because that was "his system"

A good coach adapts
That is where I say the coaching staff matters

A Josh Rosen interview on the Rich Eisen show.
22 minutes long.
I'm about half way through and nothing controversial
No red flags but he just seems to have a very flat dull personality (IMO)
I wonder if he got coached into that?

Just an observation, not meant to criticize.
Darnold doesn't seem to have the most engaging personality either.

Maybe they're just 20 and 21 and not that comfortable interviewing on camera.

I mean, RIch Eisen, NFL Network. It can be a bit intimidating and they're trying not to screw up.

It wouldn't factor at all into my decision making process.

It's all speculation about who was at fault more Roethlisberger or Haley.

I think Haley is very sharp football mind and I think Rosen is a good QB prospect.

I expect both to be professionals.

And if they're having difficulties I expect my HC to manage the personalities.

How poetic would it be if Rosen was trying to skirt the Browns so he could play with OBJ and OBJ ends up somewhere else.....or even more poetic, the Browns.

Now this is interesting............. I dunno what to think about this. Is this Rosen asking his coach to keep him from Cleveland? Is this an indictment from his coach? Why would Jim Mora say this about his star player?

EDIT: Here's a link to the real video. It's not that bad. He immediately says Josh Rosen to one of the New York teams "In a heartbeat". He says it's because of fit

Yep, that looks bad.

I just wonder what came before that quote. The first word that he uttered in that tweet was "Because..." I doubt that is where the conversation started, but I could be wrong. I'm curious.

I just read your edited post and saw the video. No two ways about it.......that's not good news for those of us who want the Browns to draft Rosen.

Oh well...................and it continues....

I think the Giants really want Rosen and he really wants to go there. I've heard Mara is enamored with him. I think Mora is trying to grease the wheels for that to happen. Saying that Darnold is more of an afc North QB, when both QBs were born in raised in Orange County is lazy. A more helpful insight would be that Josh Rosen has the name of a great Browns player. Think about all the J named players we've had since the Return who have played well. Both are outlandish claims made on very flimsy, circumstantial evidence.

Eh, it's not up to Jim Mora.

Rosen's still my guy. He's who I want with the number 1 pick.

But, as I said, if it's Baker or Sam, I can accept that for sure.

I just hope there's no truth to these Josh Allen rumors

It's weird because in an earlier interview w/Skip and Sharpe, Mora said that he would go w/Rosen over Sam.

Thus, I'm wondering if he is saying that Rosen wouldn't be happy in Cleveland?

well the key word is "fit".

what that actually means remains to be seen.

but when i watch the video, Mora comes off as wanting his guy to go to a more stable location. and there's no argument that the giants are a way more stable organization than the browns.

with the browns, there's a chance he will absolutely start at some point in the season. with the giants, unless eli goes down with injury, rosen is absolutely gonna sit no matter what.

Giants probably make more sense if you think about Rosen's brand. I've heard the Giants ownership love him too. I've ever heard them rave about his dinner table manners. It sucks to hear, but there was going to be no way that Zampese, Hailey and Rosen don't kill each other before the season was over.

Is Zampese hard to get along with?

I've heard nothing but wonderful things about him as QB Coach it seems

I'm basing that idea on the fact that the Bengals' players complained to Marvin Lewis about him in great lengths, which got him fired. I heard AJ Green doesn't like him and that dude is mad nice and very low key, so Zampese must be doing something wrong.

That's what i figured. I feel great about Zampese as our QB Coach. And I was really relieved when I found out our next OC was Haley and not him. I've heard nothing but really really good things about him as a QB Coach. He's done it awhile, and people have nothing but great things to say about him.

The comments by Mora were curious.

It's not like he was unprepared. The answer was calculated. Why would he say the Browns should draft Darnold?

Fit? What the hell blue collar Cleveland?

Rosen should play for a N.Y. team? Why N.Y.?

Weird to me. Only a guess; Rosen wants to play in New York.

I see no way that there has not been a discussion between Rosen and Mora.

That was strange.

I saw the entire interview and his comments sounded pretty stupid to me. It actually had nothing to do with playing the position at all. Here's the jist of it......

Darnold is a gritty kid. That fits the image of Cleveland. A blue collar town with a gritty QB just fits.

Rosen is more polished. It just fits a city like New York.

I think people need to quit thinking everything is run by the deep state and that this is the latest conspiracy. lol

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I just want the guy who's going to be the best. Polished or Gritty means nothing to a team that just went 0-16 and has made the playoffs once in 20 years
