let's not forgot that we'll also be re-signing Duke soon in all likelihood
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

If true, then we must not have made much an offer his direction. I'm certain we made an offer. I'm also certain that it wasn't the largest offer. As a receiver, there really are only two teams that know him well... The redskins and the Browns.. having that experience should make them the best judge of what he's worth.

Allen Hurns - WR - Free Agent
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Cowboys, Jets, Ravens, and Browns are all "vying" for free agent Allen Hurns.
Hurns met with the Cowboys on Wednesday, and he is also scheduled to speak with the Jets. Based on this report, it would not be surprising to see him travel to Baltimore and Cleveland as well before he makes his final decision. Hurns caught 39 passes for 484 yards and two scores in 10 games with the Jaguars last season.

Am I the only one thinking forget about FA receivers and look to the draft now? Yes, lol. I'm thinking, forget drafting a receiver. Let's get a FA receiver that's hungry for success

Am I the only one thinking forget about FA receivers and look to the draft now? Absolutely not... FA WR's have been very sketchy for us. IDK much about him but it seems like he started strong in 2014 and 2015 and not so much thereafter. Higgins was close in stats and only 170 yards short in Hurns last year. Hurns had 39 RECs and Higgins only 27. Again I don't know much about Hurns but I'd probably take a ride on Higgins over him and not deal with another FA WR.

It's not the same thing. Pryor probably wants another one year deal, while the potential draft brings a cheap contract for four years (with an option for a fifth year). Also, the draft pick is much younger and has more time to develop. Furthermore, in an unrelated note, some would say we should still draft the first round receiver even if we signed Pryor. I guess we'll see. I'm not excited about the idea of drafting a receiver. Not at all. Maybe in the later rounds, but early guys........ We never have success with them. Seems like a waste of a pick. At least until we know what we have. I'm excited about Njoku, I'd like to see where Corey Coleman stands after this year, and I'd like to see if Josh Gordon can play this year I feel better about signing a WR. Jordan Matthews or Terrelle Pryor. I mean, Allen Hurns, really? Who the heck is he EDIT: I mean, think about this. Corey Coleman is coming into his third season. We have him signed for two more years, if we don't pick up his fifth round option. Josh Gordon we have as a ERFA, then a RFA. Then, if we have to we can franchise him. That's three years of Josh if we want him, no matter what. Njoku shows a lot of talent, and Seth DeValve really improved last year. It's a lot of question marks, but if they work out, it's great. I think we're better with one of these FA receivers on a short term deal, and we re-evaluate next year. I mean, Jordan Matthews and Terrelle Pryor are both good players. Not sure why Matthews isn't getting more interest Oh, and we gotta lock Landry up before the season begins. Otherwise we'll lose the guy to FA

Hurns honestly might be a good choice to play opposite Gordon

Am I the only one thinking forget about FA receivers and look to the draft now? Probably not, but I don't care for the receivers in this year's draft. I think it's a pretty weak group, similar to the class in which Saint Sashi decided to draft four of them. I think Hurns has some value. He made some big plays in Jax.

You made a very valid point about the draft where we took four WR's. You have to look at the strength and weaknesses from a positional standpoint in every draft. I agree with you that this draft is very weak at the WR position. There are a few exceptions but the class in general is very weak.
The two positions in this years draft that stand out a lot to me are RB and QB. The LT position and the WR positions are terrible. Luckily there are a couple of FS options and some good CB options but I don't see it as a deep draft at either position.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I agree that the QBs and RBs in this class are really good, although I don't think the overall talent in this draft is as good as last year's.
I do have to admit I really haven't studied the DL, LBers, and OL though. In fact, I have done almost no research on those players at all. So, I could be mistaken about the quality of this draft in comparison to last year's draft.

As per usual I've looked at the OL talent. In summary I'll refer to the current draft projections. When the top rated OL player in the draft is a G I think it speaks volumes about the OT position.
I really like the play and potential of a kid named Desmond Harrison, but he has all kinds of drug problems and he reminds me a lot of Josh Gordon in that regard so I crossed him off the list.
He was kicked out of Texas for failed drug tests and ended up at West Georgia. Sound familiar?

There are very few no-brainers in this draft.
Not one of the QB's is a no brainer, although there seldom is one in the draft.
There is one RB, Two FS's, one guard, two DE's and a couple of DT's that you can feel pretty safe about producing as soon as you draft them.
There is a whole ton of talent that is 1st round caliber though. Lots of defense, a ton of RB's and more Giant WR's than you can shake a stick at.
It's a very good draft for us to have those extra 2nd round picks because value will be there.

Performing at the University of San Diego's Pro Day on Thursday, free agent Johnny Manziel completed 36-of-38 passes and reportedly had a "strong day" in front of representatives from 12 NFL teams. Manziel looked to be in good shape and generated positive reviews despite throwing in "light rain." Manziel said he has an offer from a CFL team and is well aware he still must prove himself before returning to the big leagues. Still only 25 years old, Manziel has sounded humbled after partying himself out of the pros. He recently appeared on Andrew Hawkins and Joe Thomas' podcast and apologized to both ex-Browns for blowing his first opportunity and wasting their time. Rotoworld

Report: Drew Stanton didn’t really visit Cleveland Posted by Charean Williams on March 22, 2018, 7:18 PM EDT Getty Images Drew Stanton did not visit Cleveland after all. Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal clarified an earlier ESPN report that the Browns hosted the former Cardinals quarterback. Instead, according to Ulrich, the Browns’ braintrust ran into Stanton while on the West Coast scouting draft prospects. The Browns notified the league of the talk. So it doesn’t sound as if the Browns have any real interest in Stanton. They already named Tyrod Taylor the starter for 2018 and are expected to draft a quarterback in the first round, perhaps with the No. 1 overall pick. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2018/03/22/report-drew-stanton-didnt-really-visit-cleveland/

Maybe they have to report whenever they talk to a player. In this case it's nothing but maybe still had to be reported to keep out of trouble. What trouble I don't know. But I would think there could be trouble or they wouldn't have said anything.

j/c:
--EJ Gains is a guy I liked in college and I even pimped him as a guy I wanted us to draft. He is 5'11", but has long arms and plays tall. He also makes good breaks on the ball. At least that is what I remember from his days at Mizzou.
--I would prefer Stanton over Kessler.
--I know it almost certainly won't happen, but I'd like to see us sign Suh. He is one guy who could provide inside pressure. That's huge considering we have a couple of guys who should be able to pressure from the outside. If Myles and Ogbah get pressure from the outside, the qb has to step up and Suh could clean up. That interior penetration was severely lacking last year.

Like I've seen you post more than once, some of us have reached an age where we don't know how many seasons of Browns' football we have left. I've had enough drama; I need to see my team win some games. 8-8 looks like a freaking oasis to me compared to the garbage we've had to watch in the recent years.
