Last regular season I watched the Browns almost exclusively. I watched very few other games. It sickened me to see how the Browns were playing and I just couldn't force myself to watch other teams who were playing real football.
Since we started with the trades and the FA signings I'm excited enough I've been watching replays of last years games on NFL Network and enjoying them. Though I don't expect the playoffs this year I do expect the Browns to play respectable football and not be the laughing stock of the week, every week.
I'm not predicting anything, but I'm saying we have a chance to compete for the playoffs.
Tyrod has weapons, he's not a turnover machine, is the best QB we've had in a decade. Our offence will be much better, no matter who we draft.
Our D should be a lot better too. If we stay healthy and get some breaks, we might have something THIS season.
Edit: we also need 2nd and 3rd-year players to step up, in some cases dramatically.
I agree. I am not saying this as some form of set-up for Hue.
We should have won some games last year.
TT is as good a qb as we have had since we returned
We have a bunch of rookies who aren't rookies anymore
We added some good vets at key positions via FA
We have 5 picks in the first 2 rounds. I'd say at least 3 of them will be key contributors this season. Maybe a couple will be impact players this season.
Hue now has a O coordinator so he can do what a head coach is supposed to do and not try to be a super coordinator.
I expect us to make a push towards the playoffs. That doesn't mean we will get there, but we should be playing in meaningful games in December.
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.
Every team should feel this way. And I agree our division is there for the taking. When Dorsey said we would be in the playoffs this year, I wondered what QB would take us there. I think Tyrod was the best and most important move. I'm happy with the overall moves the Browns made, they may not have been the best moves but they were necessary moves. Whomever we play week 1, it's going to be a must win. If not a division opponent, the Jets or Chiefs would be a great first week matchup at home that we should win.
Myself, I've experienced the euphoria with every change in management and the coaching staff. I experienced euphoria last year after the selection of Myles Garrett and Peppers...
...but then the season began and reality set in..not enough offense..not enough defense and not enough leadership.
Free agency is being used to upgrade weaknesses and hopefully the draft will add enough talent and leadership to get the Browns over the hump.
I will allow myself to be cautiously optimistic and accept reality, whatever it is.
I was perturbed last year when we didn't get Garrett + Hooker. I thought Hooker was a way better fit for us than Peppers. I didn't like Peppers at all (still don't).
BUT, it also gave us the #4 pick (yes, we were lucky Houston tanked). So, I guess getting Chubb/Barkley + Peppers FAR exceeds just having Hooker.
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

lol, me too. Until the playoffs (which I always watch), I couldn't really bear watching anyone else play. Just made me depressed.
I feel pretty good about this upcoming season though. Nothing too great, but at least we'll be winning some games.
I think the addition of an O-Coordinator, and one like Haley, will be a big benefit too
I agree. I don't watch much pro football other than the Browns like I can college football.
I have a mild interest in both the Falcons and Titans since they are my "local" teams, but even then, I don't watch them much.
Yup, same with me and the Jets/Giants.
But, when the Browns are winning, I'm in a much better mood on Sundays (and with the NFL) and can watch more football.
College, I don't have this affection or alliegence like I do to the Browns. So I can watch the UConn Huskies suck it up and continue to watch more games
I have a bad feeling, but am hoping that most of the reports are false and that Dorsey and crew are smarter than the media.
So if we end up taking Darnold you are going to be that upset as in we didn't take who you think is the best?
Rosen and all others are a mistake?
Losing culture was here a long time before Sashi arrived.
Sashi actually put us in the great position we are here now with and giving Dorsey tools for him to utilize with prowess.
I see both TT and Landry very excited and energized - they are tweeting and building up excitement about the Browns.
I'm glad young players are not afraid to come here. As in I'm sure Darnold was hesitant at first but now feel comfortable. I know Mayfield feels good as well. Not sure about Rosen as I haven't read it too much but I think he feels good about the Browns as well.
We have a tough schedule not an easy one in 2018. Yes, I think we will go up and the other 3 teams in our division Down but will it be enough for us to take over the Division?
I like what we are doing we are going to get a legit franchise QB no matter who we take at one and an amazing player at #4.
Great value in the 2nd round.
Things are definitely looking good for us. Love our staff. HC, DC and OC!
jmho
Defense wins championships. Watson play your butt off! Go Browns! CHRIST HAS RISEN! GM Strong! & Stay safe everyone!
Haley, GW, Miles Garret, a real QB, at least two serious receiving threats, a monster TE, a running game, a stout D-line, a good O-line, a decent set of linebackers, and a revamped secondary, plus a franchise QB and four potential starters yet to come in the draft. There is reason for optimism. The buzz is real.

Roger that. I have forgotten what it is like to be playing for something after week eight. Insult to injury. I would welcome being in the hunt later in a season for a change. We have done so much to "payroll" our division with wins that it is just wretched. I want to see us compete and win some of these. We often split.
Let's go to war and win some of these.

I've heard and felt all the excitement before. It's not real, none of it, until it is.
I'll wait to see some real results before getting worked up.
Not me man ... i get it ... were al slick of the last 20 years ... but i’m Taking the opposite track ...
I’m sick of being BUMMED about the Browns ... im sick of this place being GRIEVELAND instead of BELIEVELAND ....
When Sept. gets here we may SUCK AGAIN ... so i’m ENJOYING THIS WHILE I CAN ....
Were in GREAT SHAPE ... we’ve got a shot to turn this around RIGHT NOW ... and i’m Going to enjoy it NOW WHILE I CAN ... just in case this sept. And oct. Are like the last 20 ....
ENJOY WHILE WE CAN ... thats my approach anyhow ...
I think we all suffer from the " Battered Fan Syndrome " .lol
I don't think it is a syndrome at this stage - it is and has been out reality. I'd say that once again getting excited without seeing any actual results, yet, would be the side that is experiencing some form of syndrome.
Browns is the Browns
... there goes Joe Thomas, the best there ever was in this game.
I think we all suffer from the " Battered Fan Syndrome " .lol

I'm cautiously optimistic but I really worry about the hole Joe Thomas leaves since there isn't a viable replacement in this draft.
You can't fix stupid but you can destroy ignorance. When you destroy ignorance you remove the justifications for evil. If you want to destroy evil then educate our people. Hate is a tool of the stupid to deal with what they can't understand.
Taylor holds the ball forever just to check it down. Remember Sammy Watson the horrible bust in Buffalo. Maybe he gets it and improves but I have my doubts.
Carlos Hyde was a fantastic RB but when has he been healthy?
Hue has been the worst coach in the league. Haley could help there but again, what happens if things start slow and the team is struggling.
We lost a hall of fame player.
Now the positives
Gordon and Landry with NJOKU improving byleaps and bounds. Scary. Duke is legit.
Hue appears to be a great motivator and with less focus on trying to micromanage a rookie laden offense he may improve.
Fully healthy entire offseason of getting healthy for Myles Garrett, Jamie Collins and Ogbah.
Gaines is a stud designed for this defense. Randall is a stud when it comes to reaction.
Anyway additions on offense other than Landry are blah at best. additions on defense along with healthy returns, has me very excited for a playoff caliber defense.

lol, you can knock Taylor all you want, but he is a far superior QB to the guys we had last year.
While, you might wish we had a better QB, it's still an upgrade.
Like going to the Kentucky Derby with an actual horse instead of a donkey. No, it's not like we have Secretariate (greatest horse ever), we're at least bringing a horse instead of a donkey. That upgrade alone gives me a smile.
Dorsey, Hue, Haley, Highsmith, Wolf, McCloughan, Williams, and Zampese will look at these guys live, up close, and personal; throwing, working on the Board, and in interviews one after the other.
We can watch game film, read what others say about the prospects, watch the Senior Bowl week, the combine, and pro days.
When you are able to see these guys and interact with them like our staff is able too. And, you see them in that light one after the other.
You can make a decision on which guy fits your culture.
It is fun for us to play GM. For them this there livelihood. And this staff has paid their dues to get this point.
Whatever they decide I am willing to give them the benefit of doubt.
I think they will get it right. And I accept that it may not be who or the way I would have done it.
on paper the Browns are vastly improved the rest of the North is taking notice what's the Browns record in the AFC North since the return 10 and 88 or something like that the Browns will win some games in fact the Browns might be a better team than the Ravens but I will be convinced when this team can reach .500. I've seen this off season optimism every year since 2001. prove it to me
I'm cautiously optimistic about our future. We still have to wait for the draft and any more signings we may make. If we have a good draft we should be able to start competing on a much better level. Our players have to learn a new system and gel together. Let's give it some time but things are looking up for a change!
Pre-draft this is still a less than 6 win team. Corners are weak at best, Safety is a huge question mark with Peppers who was outright terrible and Randall who was a mediocre safety prospect coming out changing back.
Tackles are a major concern on offense. QB, while Tyrod is an upgrade the Bills wanted to get rid of him for 3 consecutive years and inexplicably did not. Drew Stanton is a career backup that has never really played all that well when in the game.
Landry is different than the rest. He is a legit pro bowl slot WR, something this team hasn’t had ever.
“Buzz” I get, but we have not drafted a single player and this team was 0-16. I’ve seen this team turn a 10-6 year into a top 5 pick in a single season. I am certainly not buzzing until I see with my own two eyes a QB that can play.
I hate being the downer when it’s the time of year to be optimistic but this team was 0-16.
yes, because there would've been zero point in trading Allen for Damarcus Randall.
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”
So what if Dorsey/Highsmith/Wolf really want Allen ?? Is Dorsey all of sudden incompetent ??
I dunno. But my faith would be tested like never before.
Obviously I have to trust in Dorsey. I'm very excited about Dorsey.
But it'd be like Jesus telling me to jump off the Empire State Building. It'd be quite a leap of faith (And I bungee jumped once. One of the worst experiences of my life. Never again. So I hate leaping off anything)
Lol .. I am excited ( guarded ) for the first time in ages ( I'm OLD ) .. I believe the Draft is going to be Hoot this year .. I Think we will be able compete and regain a certain amount of respect this season because of the team Dorsey has put together .. So I just gotts to go with the flow !
Have you been reading this board? lol If you look at my sig. you can see exactly what Dorsey thinks of the job Sashi did. Yet as I said, do you read the board?
Yes it does have to play out. But the results may not reap the responses you expect.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.
