I'll be honest, I like this signing quite a bit. He might be a diamond in the rough and a good option w/so much attention on Gordon/landry

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

I also just read that he was rated as one of the best ST's players in the NFL ... a great gunner. So he is versatile

Hes an upgrade over any WR not named Gordon or Landry ...

If hes a special teams guru ... that just adds more value to him ...

We need all the competition there. Some of these guys we haven't heard of is likely going to turn into gems and I like what JD is doing. Bringing in guys with some experience, but not breaking all the cap space.

I like the signing cause its telling bums like Higgins and Louis you are no longer going to be handed jobs anymore which that mode of thinking for this franchise has helped ruin it for 17 years

Looking at his stats, he isn't much of a WR. From what I know, he is a great ST guy as well.

Packers fans on a few message boards also seem to be a little upset that they lost him.

Yeah Higgins and Louis will struggle to make the squad

Sure can tell there’s a new sheriff in town. The days of just showing up a getting a roster spot handed to you are over. Time to earn your spot and if you want to keep it produce on Sundays. May have a complete roster overhaul by opening day!

Next Christian McCaffrey? shocked

I did like him in the draft as a later round prospect.

Same here. He is an extremely good athlete. Tall, quick and fast, great on STs. If he could turn into a good outside threat as a 3/4 option its a steal

Sounds like exactly the kind of guy Sashi tried to rid the team of.

This guy has 200 yards receiving in four seasons. He's a special teams player and that's it.

So your saying that hes not better than Louis, Higgins or any of the other recievers not named Landry or Josh ....

FYI ... in GB ... last year he competed against Nelson, Cobb and Adams for targets ... this year the comp at #1 and 2 IF josh stays healthy is just as good ... the #3 and beyond guys ... a wee bit different level of comp ... thumbsup

I think Corey Coleman will clearly be better. That makes Janis the fourth receiver at best.

Him being a very good special teamer is not a bad thing, I just don't think we should expect anything more.

Maybe more of a Cole Beasley?

well, Beasley plays slot ... IIRC Janis is mostly outside

I seem to remember some on this board being pretty high on Janis as a late round selection when he came out.

Yup. I don't think this is an answer at the WR position.

I'd still like Jordan Matthews. This guy's kinda like the Marlon Moore

Let's put a stop this BS line of thinking right now.
Every coupla years someone new comes in and they bring "their own guys".
Someone will invariably post the same thing you did.
Which begs the question, aren't "their own guys "guaranteed a roster spot?
If the answer is yes, then we are right back where we where, with a different set of guys.
It's like the movie Groundhog Day.Every coupla years you and I can have this conversation.
Good-bye then,I'll talk to you in 2020.

I think he is a pretty good receiver from games I saw him play in - good size, good hands.

Tough to get playing time when Nelson, Adams, and Cobb are ahead of you on the depth chart.

He's a special teams stud, and your bottom guy on your WR core...If you paid attention to how bad Richardo Louis was as a receiver, he was even more horrid on special teams (watch how passive he was, avoided maintaining blocks, and would gear down during the play or plays) good signing that should improve our special teams

Dorsey made his career doing the things Janis and tank Carder do.

Show up, play hard. Find a way to fight yourself on to the team.

All good teams need a few guys like that. They make the good players better. Good players can skate. Watching a guy giving 100% all the time can inspire them.

Good on special teams. Better than the bottom of our WR group. I hope he doesn't play on offense.

I remember this guy at the combine. Ran a crazy fast 40 and was huge. I wanted us to draft him! I know he didn't really pan out as a WR, but I think he can help us.

When I read that part from Ballpeen I was going to say that sounds like Baker Mayfield(s' story).

But of this, they are building a whole new roster.

The Question I have is How Long can they keep this version of this team together?

Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

Do you think you can get away with that at the QB position?

WE DON'T NEED A QB BEFORE WE GET A LINE THAT CAN PROTECT HIM
my two cents...

I think 3 things,
1. Mayfields going to have a great career wherever he goes,
2. I think the Browns are down to 2, Darnold and Mayfield, with Darnold out in front.
3. I think it would be much easier to swallow, if I'm wrong, watching Darnold have his ok career somewhere else and seeing the Browns stuck with Mayfield,
then vice versa watching Mayfield have a great career with the Jet's or whomever and seeing the Browns stuck with a just ok career from Darnold.

But, I'll admit I don't know anything.

Back to Jeff Janis; You can never have too many good wide receivers.
Does the Janis signing put Jabrill Peppers on the bubble?
