He has yet to play a down at FS, so how can you say this with confidence?

I still think that we will use at least one of our second round selections on a FS, if not in the first round.

Peppers is the FS, Randall the backup.

I think we will draft some CB's, safeties I'm not that sure...

I'm pretty sure Randall is the FS and Kindred and Peppers will duke it out for SS.

In fact, there's probably going to be an open competition for both positions if we are smart.

The fact you are pretty sure does not mean its the truth. Peppers was the FS last year, and nothing points to the fact that he is not going to be the FS next year.

The "de facto" FS and until further notice FS is Peppers.

Peppers has been the Browns FS since he was drafted, IMHO, and until we see him moved, all leads to believe that he was drafted to play FS.

We just have to look at our roster and depth chart to see this.

Regarding being pretty sure, I'm also pretty sure that Peppers will play FS, then be moved down in the depth chart and finally be cut.

No more than your insistence that Peppers will not be moved from FS is the truth.

I think Peppers will be a SS, if anything at all.

He's got to improve quite a bit

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

By the defensive coordinators own words Peppers played the 'angel' FS role because no one else, even your boy Kindred, wasn't good enough.

They brought in Randall to play FS, his college position where he was the top rated FS in his draft class.

Randall may not be handed the FS spot, but he's certainly the front runner.

Even by your own words if Peppers is terrible at FS then why in the world would they keep him there? That goes against your own logic.

The rest is just your personal bias against Peppers.

I think training camp will start with an 'competition' at the FS and SS spots.

I think the spots will shake out with Randall at FS
and Peppers/Kindred at FS and 'big nickel' LB.

"pretty sure" is a figure of speech.

I know Randall is the FS. Is that better?

I'm actually not sure why you would think Peppers is the FS. You've even said yourself he was the weakest link on defense last season and needed upgraded. Of Peppers, Randall, and Kindred, I'd say Randall has the most experience at the position. If we draft another safety I still wouldn't think Peppers is the FS.

Ed, just take a look at Pepper draft reports. IMHO GW needed a player to play Angel, and that's why we drafted Peppers.

Peppers is (was supposed to be) a very intelligent knowledgeable football player (on par with Luck the most intelligent player Rarbaugh coached), versatile, fast learner, great range type of player. Not a ball hawk, but if you play Angel, that's not a requirement.

Not only that's the draft report for Peppers but Gregg himself has vouched for Peppers playing Angel. We also didn't have anyone on the roster to play FS, we didn't sign anyone, so my conclusion is that Peppers was drafted to play FS/angel in GW's D.

I'm not saying Peppers couldn't play in theory the SS position, but he'snot the type of SS for GW defense. I personally think he would be even worst playing SS, since he's not a disciplined player, he's tackling is putrid, and his football instincts and reaction are very bad also, but I'm a minority one this one, most of the Browns fans thinks he is actually a good player, on what grounds it beats me, because he was hands down the worst player this season.

Yet when he was moved to a more natural position the last three weeks of the season, he did much better.

I'm not sure where this fantasy you speak of comes from?

You may actually wish to look at the depth chart ed posted before you continue. lol

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

He wasn't moved from the position, GW changed the D. I also I'm almost sure that all safeties improve their play on bad weather conditions....

Regarding him doing much better, he did it because he was less exposed, but still the putrid tackling was there, the inability to identify and react to a screen pass, the backpedaling on the snap, etc.

The kid has some athletic ability and potential, problem is that he has a massive ego problem and he does not learn from his mistakes, so he does not improve and keeps making the same mistakes.

Huh?

Peppers started at SS the last couple games while Nacua started at FS.

Minkah Fitzpatrick - DB - Crimson Tide

An anonymous player personnel executive said Alabama DB Minkah Fitzpatrick is a "Solid player, not an elite player."

That executive continued by saying "He’s a tweener. He’s a heady guy in their system. He’s not an elite talent." A few months after likely being selected within the top-5 picks of the NFL draft, rumors are that Fitzpatrick may slide out of the top-10 picks. A personnel director is equally pessimistic on Fitzpatrick's potential saying "He’s a good football player but there’s no up side to be great. He’s solid, soothing and solid. Welcome to Alabama football. There’s a lot of hype." Despite the negativety from some in the NFL, Fitzpatrick is one of the premier talents in this draft class and will likely be drafted within the top half of the first round.
