Looking forward to seeing Bauer pitch today. He said he's been working all off-season on a slider that is like Kluber's.

I think Bauer might be getting ready to become our 3rd ace, a true front-of-the-rotation starter. I'm also pretty encouraged by Clevenger's progress. We could conceivably get 70 wins from our Big 4 starters. Anything Tomlin provides above .500 as #5 starter would be icing on the cake.

Thanks Milkman.
I'll just use Stubhub. I hope to catch a couple games at Progressive Field this year too when visiting family in Ohio.

I was stoked when we traded for him, not because I knew a ton about him. I knew he was a top prospects....but besides that, it was his attitude. Sure, he wanted to do it his way coming up. But he was/is always looking for an edge to make himself better. Dude has top of the line stuff and the last couple years he's finally putting it all together. The crazy thing is we have 3 pitchers that were in the top of the line stuff, just needed to mature as a player, figure out how to use it and control it. (Bauer, Carrasco, Danny Salazar). 2 of the 3 are finally showing consistency the past couple years.

Not sure how late I'll be able to stay up, but hopefully enough to get a look at Clevinger.

Alonso smashed a HR.
With MLB players increasing their launch angles in recent year, ESPN showed a stat that Alonso's launch angle in 2016 was 9~ degrees and in 2017 it was at 19~ degrees. 2017 was his career high in HR.
Naquin with a HR as I type this.

Clevinger is becoming a real beast!

Clevinger is becoming a real beast! No doubt. If he keeps up his trajectory I won't be surprised and would expect Salazar to be used as trade bait come the trade deadline.

1st hit of the season is a 2-run HR for Ramirez!
2-0.
Gives Tomlin a cushion.

Well that cushion didn't last too long Indeed! As a team, the Angels batting average is .347 against Tomlin.

Wow.
Tomlin is serving meatballs.
Salazar needs to get his mind right and take over that 5th spot in the rotation.

I click on the Indians site and it's 2-2, I blink and it's 2-6 and the bad guys are winning.

Even most of Tomlins outs and foul balls were hard hit... He starts the season with an ERA of 54...

He did seem to be coming into his own late last year. Kinda thought he shoulda pitched over one of the other guys in one of those series.

My ERA of 54 prediction won't exactly be true now since Tito evidently determined that Tomlin needed to stay in the game and get bashed around a while longer.
Not sure if his logic was to see if Tomlin could find a groove and get a couple good innings in.... or if he was willing to sacrifice the game rather than have the bullpen pitch 8 innings.

I'm thinking it was the latter. No need to kill the bullpen this early in the season IMO.

That was my opinion too. He was hoping for the former but expecting the latter. Because there was NOTHING in the way he was pitching to inspire confidence that he was going to get it figured out tonight.

yeesh ... that was ugly. On to the next!
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Tomlin should be a BP guy, he just doesn't have consistent stuff. If you are going to be a soft tosser, you better have pinpoint accuracy, being a soft tosser and a fly ball pitcher is not a good combo. If i was francona, I'd use that 5th slot as an experiment for most of the season and try different guys there and see if someone can take it.

Yeah, Tomlin is lethal if he's in the zone, but when he's not - his pitching style gives up hits left and right. Wouldn't mind seeing someone else in the starting rotation.

I know the crack about Tomlin as a BP pitcher was just hyperbole, and I also know he can be hard to watch pitch sometimes, because he has to nibble the edges of the strike zone to be effective, but he has won 23 games for the Indians in the last two years. That's not bad for a 5th starter. I guess I just have a soft spot for a guy who doesn't have elite stuff but still goes out and competes every 6th day. Every now and then he'll get shelled, but most of the time he keeps you in the game.

Just what the Indians DON'T need on getaway day - extra innings. 2-2, going into the bottom of the 12th.

What bothers me the most is when you get a Quality game from your Starters and can't finish .. Not sure how a guy like Kluber handles it .. What a champ !
