Casserly on NFL Path to the Draft showed a rating system they filled out.
This was no drum beat. Honest assessment by GM's.

Casserly polled 24 GM's on the the quarterbacks in this draft.
17 picked Darnold.
Second place 3 for Mayfield.
Not much else to say. Do you have a link?

Not much else to say. They can't all be blowing smoke up our butts. Hopefully one of those 24 GM's was Dorsey. They probably left out the first 8 GMs who were picking in this draft.

Funny to hear all the talk about the ceiling of Allen.
Put this in storage. Sam is the guy with the ceiling.
He has been playing quarterback for 4 years including high school. Look what he has done.
He is 20.
This guy is going to get better daily.
He is like 3 years younger than Wentz.
The Browns are in great shape to school Darnold.
Develop him into the starters roll.
In mind Darnold is the guy with a high ceiling. And based upon what he has already done; he has a high floor as well.

I can't help but notice the contrast of the dogma concerning the first and second picks. On one hand the rhetoric for the Giants seems to be Sam Donald or bust, (meaning they will go somewhere other than the QB position @2.) but with the Browns the field is wide open @1, and including Barkley?
So why is it, at least the rhetoric @1, so different than @2 in respect to which QB they should take or pass on the rest?
If the rhetoric is true,...I mean why pass on Donald @1, if he makes since with the 2nd selection.
This happens every year leading up to the Draft, when the media plays match makers, with respect to players and where in their perfect world each player fits and in their mind belongs.
But luckily this is a Draft for a reason...the team who picks first gets the first choice.

At this point I listen but don't really hear.
They have to continue to be beat the drum of interest.
The one thing that remains is Dorsey and his group will do everything they can to get this right.
Seems kind of hard to screw up the first two picks.
We can get the best players at their position.
That makes us better.
Logic will prevail. Real easy take the Best Player.

I am a Darnold fan, have been since the 1/1/17 Rose Bowl. I know he has flaws, they all do. But when I saw him lead the Trojans to victory over the superior Nittany Lions, I knew I wanted him to lead the Browns.
The Browns have been a very bad team for a very long time. But in all that time, until last year they had never been able to earn the 1st overall draft pick. Other teams always found a way to be worse for a year. So I didn't believe that having finally 'won' the first pick in 2017, we would have any chance of getting it again in 2018. I was dismayed that we were going to miss Darnold by picking first a year too early. (Not that I regret getting Garrett, at all.)
But then we did it again, 1st pick 2 years in a row, and we get the chance to draft Darnold. The part of me that has wanted Darnold to be the Browns QB for over a year is going to be crushed if they draft someone else. I get that Rosen and Mayfield are good choices for other reasons. I can live with it if they decide one of them is the better way to go. But Allen? No, just no!
It is my belief that Darnold is the one from this class that will become a top 5 NFL QB. I have no evidence to back that belief, I just know that if he can play on Sundays like he played in that Rose Bowl, we are going to have our QB. Finally, after all these years.
Comon Browns, don't Browns this up. Draft Darnold!

This happens every year leading up to the Draft, when the media plays match makers, with respect to players and where in their perfect world each player fits and in their mind belongs.
But luckily this is a Draft for a reason...the team who picks first gets the first choice. Think about all the reasons why a team might put out disinfo. They... - ...want a coveted player to fall, so they pump up a player they don't like. - ...want to increase trade value for their pick, or create confusion so other teams panic and make worse decisions. - ...put out disinfo to smoke out a leak from their organization. Say you're taking X player to one group and Y player to another and see what makes it to the media. - Some internet commenters need to stroke their ego so they pretend like they have inside sources. Some might actually have inside sources, but are subject to the above. - Bloggers need to constantly come up with new material (accurate or not) so people keep coming back to their site. More impressions = more ad revenue - There may be a sense of personal pride where GMs don't want people to know who they're going to pick until they hand in their card, just out of principle. And amidst all of that, some of the information is actually true, so you can't hear something and immediately think the opposite. The solution is to use common sense, and hope your GM also uses common sense (I think this is a safe assumption for the Browns in 2018. It clearly hasn't been in past years.) Just run the picks through the common sense filter and you can eliminate Josh Allen, Saquon Barkley, and Bradley Chubb from consideration for the #1 pick right off the bat.

Barkley, Chubb, Darnold, Rosen, trade....

Not true at all! I have a legitimate Browns source. And my source is saying the Browns take Baker Mayfield! My legitimate Browns source And my source probably has a better accuracy than some of those guys out there!

This draft I have done a ton of film study.
I have been waiting to get a premier quarterback for what seems like forever.
I have stated there is a strong case to be made for three of the four. Allen, only if you ignore tape and go on potential.
But Sam is special. I see his flaws. I know what has to be done to correct what needs to be corrected. He will fix it.
But talent and what he can do; I have no doubts. In 2016 as a redshirt freshman he lit it up big time. He showed what he can do with some talent around him. 2017 he showed he can still do it even though it was clear his OL struggled and his receivers were limited.
He has innate abilities to see the field. He moves when needed but continues to look for open. He throws of the move very accurately. He can make every throw. He can do all the physical stuff. But what will make this guy great is leadership. He gains the confidence of his teammates. They believe he will make the plays that have to be made.
That goes a long way. Be the man every day on and off the field. There will never be an issue Darnold the man. He will do the right things.
I believe Rosen to be a great quarterback prospect. My only concern with Rosen is long term health.
I get Mayfield. Great leader and very productive. I think he will be a very good player.
But Sam has most potential. He can be a complete quarterback. I want him in a orange helmet.

10 spins went as follows:
6 - Darnold 2 - Allen 1 - Rosen 1 - Mayfield

I call Barkley or Allen Wide open, because if youn concider them with the first pick, then you would have consider the rest of the QBs' because Allen is probable not better than the 4th - 6th QB in this draft.

I was shocked. lol I updated it to add Fitz and then gave 20 spins: 6 - Rosen 4 - Fitz 3 - Chubb 2 - Mayfield, Barkley, Darnold 1 - Allen Then, I removed all QB's because we're not taking two of them, and added in some other players listed as being top rated at other positions. I ended up having to give 30 spins to break ties on who we're taking at #4: 7 - Denzel Ward 6 - Derwin James, Fitz 4 - Courtland Sutton, Chubb 3 - Barkley So, Rosen & Ward is the answer.
Browns is the Browns
... there goes Joe Thomas, the best there ever was in this game.

In todays presser with Dorsey a lot was asked about the fumbling of Darnold.
Btw, Mary Kay, does she just get dumber and dumber, I can't believe she is the National face/expert on the Browns regarding all the other Journalists...
For the record Darnold's hand size is 9 3/8" Just 1/8th of an inch bigger than Mayfield. for his height you would expect a bigger hand.
I know Baker has played a lot of cold weather ball but Darnold has not - I wonder if that will play into any of it. I know that is why they made a big thing about the rain at Darnold's pro day. But rain actually isn't a detractor its the wind!
Darnold with the Fumbles tells me without looking at him that he carries the ball too low. He has to get that baby touching his chest almost. One of the best Running QBs I ever saw played for Hofstra back in 1972 (I saw him play) he carried the ball with two hands on it against his chest...ran like that and in a split second could throw a pass if it merited it. and if he got hit he never fumbled!
Defense wins championships. Watson play your butt off! Go Browns! CHRIST HAS RISEN! GM Strong! & Stay safe everyone!

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Yes as much as I personally like Mayfield...like underdogs and kids who work hard and sees results like he did.
But Darnold: 1. Is going to be the pick. 2. When the pick is made I am going to be very happy. I like the kid he will be good for us.

Yeah we are down to cases.
I am all over the place. Nervous, check. Anxious, check.
Confident, check. Still nervous, check.
Regarding Lamar. I have never been critical of the guy. Yet when I tell it like I see it; it seems to be taken that way.
I have looked at this every single way possible. Tried to measure each guy logically. Wanting to see the best guy for the Browns.
It keeps coming back to Sam Darnold.
