Oof. I dunno. Making business personal is often bad for business.

They do look pretty geared up to make a run at a QB though. Maybe they expect Brady for one more season, max two seasons

I agree. Don't burn bridges.

I agree but then again, I can't think of too many things New England has that I would give up the #4 pick for... unless they would send us Belichick.

Yeah, my comment admittedly on the childish side but there's the truth. We're still too high for them at 4 to likely work out a trade.

#Browns reserve QB Kevin Hogan has requested and received permission for his agent to seek a trade out of Cleveland, I’m told. Hogan started one game last year, but had his best moments coming off the bench against the #Jets (122.4 passer rating).

Can't blame him, he's going to to be buried on bench or possibly released after camp anyways

Yep, Barring an injury he wasn't likely to make the team anyways.

nobody will give up anything for him, but I'd be right with him too ... I'd want released

His best bet would probably have been to stick through a preseason game or 2, and then ask to be traded or released. At least then he might have put up some solid looking tape against 4th string players.

I cannot see another team giving up even a special teams backup player for Hogan.

Finding a trade partner will be a tall order. His agent has his work cut out for him.

I dunno...if Clipboard Jesus can get a call up after not being in the league for awhile, I'd think teams could do worse than Hogan as a 3rd stringer or mid-season acquisition due to injury.

Along the same lines... if Cody Kessler can be traded, Hogan should be able to be traded as well.

Hopefully Hogan finds a spot because yes, way we're shaped now will get him buried on the roster or as said, released. I always wanted to see more of him. Showed some power and ability to take pain and continue playing, especially when he had that rib injury.

John Dorsey already cut Kevin Hogan once (after drafting him), so this is not surprising. Hogan had no place on the team.

I was kinda hoping we could hang on to him, but once Stanton was brought onboard...

Hogan needs a lot of work. Even if we didn't sign Stanton, how much attention is he going to get?

If so .. then why did Dorsey sign him as an ERFA. He was cut in KC to go on the Practice Squad.

If a team likes a QB, they don't cut him at all. He was signed as an ERFA because why not? If he's cut there is no salary cap ramifications and you have an asset that some other team might want.

Yeah, it's magic. If we get anything for Kevin, then it'll be another thing I can say I'm digging with this JD led operation thus far.

What other teams are in the market for backups?

A team in the market for a backup shouldn’t want Kevin Hogan.

Browns trade Kevin Hogan to Washington

http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2018/04/browns_trade_kevin_hogan_to_wa.html

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Browns quarterback room in 2018 has now completely been remade. Quarterback Kevin Hogan was traded to Washington in exchange for a 2018 sixth-round pick (No. 188 overall), the team announced. Washington will also receive the sixth-round pick the Browns acquired from New England in exchange for cornerback Jason McCourty (No. 205 overall).

This is the second time Hogan has been jettisoned by John Dorsey. Originally drafted by Kansas City in the fifth round of the 2016 draft, he was cut before the start of the season. The Browns signed him to their practice squad.

Hogan started one game for the Browns against the Texans this season in place of DeShone Kizer. He was intercepted three times in the first half.

Hogan appeared in eight games for the Browns in his two seasons, completing 59.4 percent of his passes for 621 yards, four touchdowns and seven interceptions.

The Browns have traded all three of the quarterbacks on their roster at the end of the 2016 season and both quarterbacks drafted under former Executive VP of Player Personnel Sashi Brown's watch. Kizer, a second-round pick in 2017, was traded to Green Bay in exchange for Damarious Randall. Cody Kessler, a third-round pick in 2016, was traded for a conditional seventh-round pick in 2019.

Dorsey is looking good. Getting draft picks for these guys is fantastic. You can find good ST players in these late rounds.

Probably more like good job Kevin's agent, but either way.

Hogan and his agent knew he couldn't stick. We just signed Taylor and Stanton, and are drafting a QB early.

No team keeps 4 QBs on the active, though I am sure it has probably happened a few times

It's a good move for Hogan and a good move by whoever requesting the opportunity.
