It's interesting Tomlin has already walked two batters.

Tomlin is always among the league leaders in fewest "walks allowed per 9 innings".

A great stat. Except that he's also always among the league leaders in "homers allowed per 9 innings".

For a couple years now, I've been thinking he needs to "nibble" the edges of the plate more.

Maybe he's finally gonna sacrifice a few more walks per 9 vs. homers per 9.

Tomlin has always needed to pitch on the margins, and when he has done well its because he did. If he's out over the plate, he gets hammered. His stuff is just not good enough if his command isn't pinpoint. That said, he has come through for us quite a few times - 22 wins for a 5th starter over the last two years is pretty good.

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

And don't you forget it! Dave schooled me on this a year or two ago.

Haha, but I respect the realm of proper nomenclature.

Cody Allen did well to close it... good game.

So... We don't have a hitter above a .200 average right now and we are atop the division at 6-5.

Wow.

Was a great match to win. Glad we had good throwers to finish things up in the 9th period, and make up for our lack of swingers scoring.

smile

I'm not knocking anyone, really. But this, and the 1 point thing, remind me of my wife talking about our daughter's softball games.

On the way home from a game wife will say "So, Sooga had 4 hits tonight, right?"

No. She had 1 hit.

Wife "What? She hit the ball each time she was up. 4 hits"

That's not how it works honey. She had 1 hit. The double to left center. In her other at bats, she popped out to the shortstop, grounded out to second, and even though it was a long fly ball to right field, it was caught. It was an out. She was 1-4.

Wife: Well, that's not how I say it. I say she had 4 hits.

Okay.

And heaven forbid if Sooga got on due to an error. No way I can explain to my wife that it wasn't a hit.

I said that very thing to my son tonight at the game. I looked up at the scoreboard and at the start of the game, Davis was the only one hitting over .200.

Once the bats get going and with this pitching staff, the Tribe could be scary good.

Bebo got his first HR of the season at the right time tonight.

Go Tribe!

Nasty line drive off Kip's bat to Zimmerman's jaw. Could have been ugly had it hit his temple.

Carrasco looking good. I'm hoping the warmer weather leading to better offense in the innings to come.

Zimmerman passed concussion protocol and going for x-rays. Hope the man is okay, that looked horrible.

Our pitcher though is destroying it. Carlos rocking it, no one in the bullpen - looking like he's going for a complete game.

I've been enjoying this entirely too much. My Bro in Law in Lansing is a tigers fan. He's been texting me crap at 5am the last few days...

J/C....

Another outstanding pitching performance. Carrasco was lights out and he started out the game giving up a double. Cookie's first complete game at Progressive Field.

Lindor's defense had been incredible.

Bats finally warmed up.

The Indians have been successful stealing bases this season. Love the aggressive base-running. Several double-steals.

Go Tribe!

In our last 10 games against the Tigers, dating back to last September, we've posted a 0.80 ERA ... That's pretty good.

We look to sweep the series tonight with TB on the hill.

I really should be enjoying this 70 degree weather but I'm electing to stay inside, drink beer and watch the Tribe!

Continue the killer pitching Trevor. I hope this game indicates many of our hunches with the previous game... in terms of the bats heating up.

This is exciting. I'm jealous of the people out at Progressive there watching this game in this weather. Ramirez always has the most grumpy, I hate the world look on his face lol.

Well, of course this post is premature.

I mean Zimmer prior to this year has only had 335 ABs in his career do far.

But boy I'll sure look forward to digging through the archives to find it if Zimmer finishes this year with something like 500+ ABS, 25 HRs, 25 SBs, ,280 ave.

I think he meant defensively... but yes, I think offensively he has that ability too.

No doubt. That was a great catch he made last night.

Plays like that are nearly becoming routine for him.

Wow his helmet bounces back and cut his face badly, big knot where it hit, and he's still in there. Davis is a beast.
